  1. It sounds pretty neat Darren, and if she’s had first hand success, like yourself, then that’s even better. Thanks for the info.

  2. It’s a shame I’m at work right now, without any speakers on my pc. But I’ll be sure to check it out when I’m home! ..

    Thnx!

  3. It definitely seems to be a great book. I’m currently looking into the whole social media thing myself, cause I’m working on an article for my blog. Doing serious research on Twitter, HubPages, Digg, and so on… So this might be a great addition to everything I’ve collected so far.

But first I’ll have to finish 31 Days to Build a Better Blog.

    Regards, Daan

  4. I also read the book already. Tamar has been in the trenches for a long time and knows what she’s talking about. Definitely worth investing some reading time

  5. Darren – this truly is a great introduction to the entirety of social media, and would be a great addition to any marketers book collection.

I’ll be giving 5 copies of the book away on http://www.polarunlimited.com/readitfor.me in the next few weeks, and will have a video summary of it there as well.

Like you said, the examples and screenshots really make this accessible for somebody who is just getting into social media and wants to start off on the right foot.

  6. Hi readers Now a days marketing in social communities essential to blogging success. It will be good to read like this type of stuff. Sure I do.

  7. Sounds interesting. So far I have not been able to get much social media traffic. I’ve been working off the “if you build it, they will come” approach. Not working so well =P.

  8. When do you have time to read anything other than blogs? You must be a robo reader. I’m impressed.

  9. It sounds like a good book not to be missed. Since it is recommended by Darren, I believe it must have something to learn about from the book

    Thanks!

  10. Nice video and sounds like a great book. I’ll have to check it out since I can always use more knowledge on social media marketing.

    thanks for sharing!

  11. This great book should not be missed now that social media marketing is booming

  12. wow Darren.I will get the book.is it available in torrents …. just kidding…lol

  13. Thanks for the review Darren. I should not miss to get it. :)

  14. I should have a copy of the book. I really need marketing advice for my blog. Thank you so much for sharing Tamar’s book.

  15. Great review Darren. Your video posts are always informational.

  16. Hmm, for less than $20… not bad really.

  17. Thanks Darren, it looks very interesting. Now,
Social Media are not only powerful for marketing but also for linkbuidling.

  18. Yeah Darren, it seems to become a new movement in the blogosphere. Thanks for the infos, that book sounds very interesting.

  19. I love this book. It is probably the first one I’d recommend who is confused by all the social media tools.

I’d also recommend the New Rules of Marketing and PR, by @dmscott, but much of the information in that is too basic for those who understand blogging. The rest, well, blew my mind :-)

One thing I’d like to comment on – and I’ll be expanding on this when I do my own review – is that you shouldn’t JUST focus on social media when it comes to your marketing efforts.

    You should also:
    – focus on other forms of online marketing
    – optimize your site for the search engines
    – market to your offline customers

:-) Again, thanks for the review. What motivated you to use video? I’m planning to use video as part of my reviews.

    – Jade

  20. Thanks, Darren. Given the speed at which Web 2.0 is evolving, it’s hard to imagine that any book written about it is going to remain relevant for more than five seconds. However, I’ll take your word for it.

Very nifty how you put that clickable link on your vid. Once again, this is something I probably wouldn’t have read, but was happy to watch. So good on you! Best regards, Paul. :)

  21. Wow! What a great job you did on the book! Really, congratulations!

The New Community is full of great information, terrific links, incredible ROI case studies, and the writing style is very easy to understand! The format is awesome! You really have a winner here! I would recommend this to anyone wanting to understand social media better, and those of us who think they do!

Congratulations! – Lon Safko (Author of The Social Media Bible)

  22. A well written post with a nice video…..Great! Thanks for sharing your ideas for a successful blogging.:)

  23. Nice description of marketing methods

  24. I like this, think I need to set up my own blog sometime.

  25. I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the great work Look forward to reading more from you in the future.

  26. Never underestimate the value of cold cash.

  27. It is possible to fail in many ways…while to succeed is possible only in one way.

  28. You made some good points there. I did a search on the topic and found most people will agree with your blog.

  29. There is obviously a lot to know about this. I think you made some good points in Features also.

  30. I have just started a small seo consultancy business and the steady income thing is not a major concern for me, as I have a lot of clients who pay in monthly installments. The one thing that I find hard is knowing when to stop work and when I can actually start it. I have a young family so time is a major issue for me.
