  1. Who is Andy Wibbels? I’m a new reader so don’t know if you’ve mentioned him before. link please.

  2. He gives some good advice but all of these social widgets don’t help! The MyBloglog one and all it’s varients are pretty tempting…

  3. Scary&Funny!

  4. The video part is quite scary, but audio is, like you said, right on the money.

If you are a widget freak, you should definitely place them way below the fold and hope your page doesn’t load for ages!

  5. Let’s see, yesterday I got everything sunburnt, and today I saw a topless man talking about cleaning your blog.

Yeah… this week is starting off great…. :P

  6. I’ll let my lunch digest before watching it (no disrespect to Andy).

Maybe he’s unlocked the secret of blogging.

  7. Ooops, my bad Darren! I first read this post on my phone; the video didn’t show because I keep forgetting to install the plug-in I need. I didn’t realize there was a video; I just got the text at first. Thanks for the link though!

  8. His advice is sound, but sadly he doesn’t lead by example. The video got my attention, but then he lost it again.

  9. An original blogging presentation. A topless woman might have attracted even more attention ;)

He sounds a little bit like Quentin Tarantino, all right?

  10. This is at least partially caused by poor blog design.

    1. If your content loads first, it doesn’t matter how slow any widgets load
    2. You shouldn’t have the same content on permalink pages as you have on other navigation pages, including your home page. WordPress widgets is one cause of this.

  11. I have been cleaning up my blog in an attempt to unclutter the presentation.
    It ebbs and flows.

  12. […] Photoshop Drawing Blog Tip: Clean Your Blogs Sidebars Today I found a video via Problogger.net of Andy Wibbels giving blog tips for new bloggers to clean their sidebars by removing all […]

  13. That is freakin’ hilarious! Thanks for sharing :)

  14. Less is More – thanks for that fun link, Darren!

  15. What’s so scary about the way God made me? :p For those that don’t know me I’m Andy, author of Blogwild: A Guide for Small Business Blogging and co-author of Six Figure Blogging (with Master Darren). I’ll get some hot chicks next time.

  16. NOOOO!! There are way too many hot chicks in the blogosphere to make me feel inadequate and insecure!!!

  17. Ditto to Mahala’s.. The Net is definitely not reaching out equally to the Female pocketbook.. :))

  18. Absolutely awesome that you’ve featured Andy. An extremely bright guy, he’s a must for the professional/business blogging set. He can also sniff out b.s. at a remarkable rate and he kindly passes his wisdom on to the rest of us lunkheads. Which is a useful thing indeed. Trust me.

He’s a good read even for those of us who aren’t of the profession or business blogging persuasion. Very entertaining in general. Hell, even I read him, and I haven’t done anything either professional or entertaining since kindergarten.

  19. I just noticed you loofahed your sidebar too, from all those b5media links.

  20. Andy is wearing shirt on his blog…?

  21. I’d like to watch this, but DAMN MY DIALUP! The internet is no longer made for those using AOSMELL.

  22. I vote 1 for more topless men on the internet. This post got my attention ;)

  23. […] seen an interesting post over Problogger the last days and I’ve realized that my sidebars were so full of useless […]

  24. I really like this video and tips. Now, I got an idea for sidebar staffs. Thank you.
