Do You Have Any Blogging New Years Resolutions?

Posted By Darren Rowse 3rd of January 2010 Reader Questions 0 Comments

The new year is here and in chatting with a lot of bloggers this past week I’m hearing a lot of optimism and planning going on when it comes to blogging in 2010.

Do You Have Any Blogging New Years Resolutions for 2010?

Would love to hear your thoughts on where you’ll be heading and what you’re planning?

My plans are coming along for ProBlogger. I’m planning on a review of the whole brand of ProBlogger in the coming weeks, a redesign (that will flow out of that), new features and levels on ProBlogger.com, a new E-book in the coming month and a lot more.

What about you?

  1. Yes I have a plan. I love to blog. I have created ten unique blogs each reflecting a different interest in my life though of course some slightly overlap each other so I need to interlink in a professional way, the blogs so they work together in a circle of cross links and readers will be able to follow them according to their own interest.

My plan is to have each of these ten blogs at a professional standard, with a good Google ranking, all generating an income while allowing me to write about subjects of my interest.

  2. I will concentrate on relevant keywords related to the ideas in
the content and I will tie it all together to produce income while helping out my readers, thanks

  3. I pretty much plan to do what the others are saying about their blogs. This time I plan that writer’s block will not hit me so much as I am armed this time!

  4. Well I just launched a blog, so one of my new years resolutions is to keep to my posting schedule. I already have 6 weeks worth of content written and scheduled.

Another resolution I have is to improve my writing skills.

  5. I have a few New Year’s resolutions:
To create more community and return readership – I’ll be doing that through an enewsletter.
To transfer my TypePad blog to Thesis WordPress. That’s going to be a huge project.
To share more of the personal on my blog. While recipes and tips are good for search engine traffic, people return because they get personally involved with other’s personal stories.
To continue being helpful and offering advice to newer bloggers.

  6. I am devoting the first quarter of the year to my blogs – to reading your e-book, going carefully through saved posts, looking into other platforms, developing an overall “plan” for my blog, thinking through why I blog, etc.

  7. To create more original content and to post more than 5 times per week.

  8. Well, of course I have New Year’s Resolutions… who doesn’t? LOL! Aside from wanting to drop a few pounds, I have some massive blogging plans. :-)

I set some goals (prefer goals to resolutions) and set up some to do tasks in outlook.

Bought your eBook and am working my way through it…

Started a Blog Conference (focus group this year! apply to be a member) http://www.weblogconference.com — little shameless self-promotion never hurt. LOL!

I typically post about 2 posts per day but try not to do more than 4. :-) I love it and can’t imagine what I did before blogging!

  9. Darren,

It is good that you’ve asked… I have been planning for 2010 for a few weeks now!

Here is what I have been doing in the past (below I will explain what I have in mind for 2010!)

    1) I have been blogging for over 2 years now (part-time) without the intension of making money.

    2) I have been blogging on and off throughout that time (not a regular blogger)

    3) I didn’t have a focus for my blog

    4) I have not followed up with every blogging request I’ve received

    5) I have not implemented everything that I have learned about online marketing

    My 2010 Blogging Resolution entails:

    1) Get focussed… what is the bread and butter operation of my blog? I will get there by answering the following questions… Why am I blogging? and why should I continue to blog? I will most likely go back to the origin of the blog – to help internet startups…

    2) Revise my “About me” page to reflect the focus of the blog

    3) Implement “aweber” subscription to capture leads (in place)

    4) Get help for writing (in place)

    5) Implement 31DBBB workbook that I’ve purchased from you (going through it)

    6) Regular blogging (schedule posting and avoid rush posts) (starting this week)

    7) Post at least two 1000+ words article per week to help in my niche (already scheduled a few postings)

    8) Continue to build the Website Review section of my blog by helping new online startups (I have a backlog of requests for review…). Planning to catch up.

    9) In essence, make money!!! Make lots of money — implement everything I’ve learned over the past many years…

Yes it is a bit of a long response to your question but I need to either make a serious move, or get out of blogging altogether… I’ve chosen to “get serious and not quit” route…

  10. I thinks, in average, it’s more difficult to increase traffic in a Spanish blog. That’s my new year’s resolution. Rise traffic with important content from heart and helping others in any way. Value and discipline, patience as well.

Right now, I have, in average 300 dialy visits and over 500 unique pageviwes, I know that is almost nothing, but something is better than none.

I want 1,000 visits/day for this year. Users…transmit your lucky. Jejeje, Thanks.

  11. After some research I found out that more than 75% of people who set New Year’s resolutions will break them within 3 months and almost one-third will break them by the end of January? Whether your goal is to stop smoking, lose weight, get in shape, break bad habits, pay off debt, or find true love; most people end up being another statistic.

  12. I do have a new year resolution for my blogs. And that is use your tips and also the karate style for blogging as you mentioned in your another post and get maximum traffic..

  13. My goal is to aim for more interaction with people in regards to getting more comments on my posts. People read my posts, they just don’t leave any comments, unless they’re spammers of course. So that’s my goal for 2010. Baby steps turn into giant leaps with faith and effort.

  14. my main goal for this year is to become more personal. i tend to write like i’m writing for an audience, rather than just being myself. i want to connect to my readers on a personal level- not just through pretty pictures.

  15. I tried to sit down and write goals for my Serial Reinvention blog. Instead I wound up writing a new post, “Three New Year’s Resolutions for Serial Reinventors”. Not the same thing, but I do believe that by focusing on providing value, rather than just on promotion, you get more back in the end. So my goal is to keep focusing on that strategy in 2010: write more useful content, find time to comment more on other blogs that are interesting and helpful, and promote others on my blog.

  16. Ephman has this odd blog. This year is it! Top Blogging New Years Resolutions For An Awesome Year! http://bit.ly/5UIgvB

  17. lol, to eventually have a $1,000,000 sitting in my bank account, between all my present and future blogging efforts. It sounds absolutely absurd when I say it, but I’m going to give myself 5 years… here’s to the journey to 2015!!!

  18. Be consistent.

  19. i hope my blog can help me earn some more money so that i can buy a flat next year, haha.

  20. Darren,

Great idea for a post! It’s interesting and helpful to read other resolutions.

I guess mine would be more posts/more content.

  21. I just posted mine this morning: 7 Blogging Goals for 2010. I think you’ll like #4 and #6.

  22. I just redesigned my blog too. I changed it to self-hosted WordPress. A couple of my blogging new year resolutions would be to be more personal and transparent and to write more in-depth posts…

  23. I certainly think that blog posting can be a great way to improve links to your own site. It also helps the blog you post on, having fresh new links.

My goals for this year are just that. Post more and improve my own links.

Excellent blog, thank you for all the information.

  24. 1. Post everyday, because sometimes I skip it.
    2. Promote more!
    3. Execute those great ideas, I am having from time to time.

  25. I hope you got the question i asked thru #pbquestions on twitter. Anyway, my question was in line with this. My blogging resolution for the year is to

    – write more creative articles
    – categorize my post per day
    – blog consistently
    – start reading problogger.com from it’s inception and incorporate most of the things i read
    – guest post more on other blogs
    – give people the opportunity to guest post on my blog
    and etc

In short, my resolution is to make my blogging style better and also help people live better on the best side of life through blogging, inspirations,
entrepreneurship, internet marketing and social media

  26. Superb read, I just passed this onto a co-worker who was making a little research on that. And he actually purchased me lunch cause I found it for him.

  27. I have got plans to expand my reach beyond this blog. I may be working with some others on some joint projects. I’ll likely be doing more guest posting and more webinars for my subscribers.
