Buyings and Selling Blogs

Posted By Darren Rowse 8th of January 2006 Blogging for Dollars 5

There is a couple of worthwhile podcasts over at SavvysoloCast which are a conversation between Yaro Starak and Michael Pollock talking through the topic of Buying and Selling Blogs. The conversation is based upon the sale of Small Business Branding (bought by Yaro from Michael) where both guys talk through some of the considerations they made on their side of the transaction (including the price paid – towards the end of Part 2). Listen to the conversation in two parts – Part 1 and Part 2.

  1. Andy Hagans also talks about buying blogs over at performancing:

  2. Interesting articles! From what they are saying, it is very important for a prospective seller to develop multiple sources of revenue on the site and not just great content to raise the valuation to much higher levels.

  3. It is a very interesting article and like many people say it is good to develop multiple sources of revenune. Depening on one source of revenue is not good thats putting all the eggs in one basket.

  4. I also posted on this subject a while back. It’s a bit more focussed on what traffic / linkage data to look out for when buying a site.

If you’re thinking of acquiring a site, it may be worth a read. :)

  5. Starting out with the goal of eventually selling the blog…what is the best platform and web host to make that trasaction the easiest. Example. You can’t sell a blogger blog even if someone wanted to buy it…correct? So is starting a Go Daddy blog or movable type blog better in the long run? Thank you for any advice
