Boost Your Blog Traffic: A Guide For Bloggers Who Want More Traffic in 2011

boost blog traffic

Are you looking for more traffic for your blog?

If you answer yes – you’re not alone. In fact you’re in the vast majority of bloggers. I ran a survey of a segment of ProBlogger readers recently and a ‘lack of traffic’ was identified as the #1 challenge that bloggers face.

Kicking off on Monday 24 January Chris Garrett and I are running a short course to tackle this problem. Over 5 modules we’ll walk you through our philosophies for building traffic to blogs.

The course is just $29.95 USD – or $99 if you do it with our other 4 courses in the Pillars of ProBlogging series. It is the 2nd of these courses that we’ve created (the first had some great reviews) and we’d love for you to join us!

In the course we’ll cover 5 Modules:

Module 1: Where to Start

  • Starting with the visitors you have
  • Build Loyalty
  • Engagement
  • Subscriptions

Module 2: Get Off Your Blog

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Forums
  • LinkedIn
  • Blogs

Module 3: Get More Google Traffic

  • Keywords and key phrases
  • Keyword research
  • Landing pages
  • Links
  • Other ranking influences

Module 4: Advertising and Syndication

  • Adwords
  • Facebook
  • RSS, Aggregators and Syndication
  • Repurposing
  • Guest-Posting

Module 5: Live Webinar

  • Live chat with Chris and Myself (in fact we do two live webinars to accomodate different time zones). These will be recorded for those who can’t make the live webinars.

Each of the modules is made up of multiple videos (a total of over 20 videos) which you’ll have access to for a year – so you don’t have to complete it all in the five days that we release them.

So if you’re looking to boost traffic to your blog in 2011 and you need a little inspiration and instruction to get you going – sign up today for this course.

  1. Darren, you are Such as top for me
every article you write i can earn from it good information and at least one tip make me success
    thanks a lot !!!

    • Hey, looking to get more traffic for my blog adammollon.blogspot.com any advice on the layout of the blog etc? Also tips on length of posts that will engage readers easier.

  2. I’ve been waiting on this since the previous course about killer content. Looking forward to some great information.

  3. getting higher traffic and that too in quick time is always a hard task for anyone. I’m also in that list but learning day by day to increase it and traffic increasing at a steady rate, hope i can make a quick rise by following your unique tips.

  4. Any one who has read problogger over the years will have read all the above for free. If you have read all the above and you have yet to get traffic, it is because you have not put into action the ideas.

Buying the $22 modules won’t solve your problem. The biggest enemy is failing to put ideas into action. The key is to apply yourself persistently.

    • Excellent point Constantine, and it’s nice to have bite sized pieces come to you in an orderly fashion so you know exactly what to do. :) And the chance to get on a live chat with these two gentleman is about priceless. :)

    • It’s true, but some people discovered problogger recently and decided to pursue blogging. I try to read older articles when I have time, but time is expensive. More expensive that $22 per course, or $99 for all of them. It saves me time, I enjoy it more because they are videos, and I get to talk to Darren and Chris during live webinar.

Plus, buying courses is a good way to say thank you… Problogger doesn’t have many ads, and that’s good. Easy to read.

      Just my two cents :)

      • Good point Viktor. I’m in the same boat as you- it seems there’s a lot of blogging wisdom to catch up on!

      • I agree with your point Viktor. The program is best for new comers in terms of time saving and well-organizing. I’ve ever been in the situation of information overwhelming then lost focusing in the beginning of self-study.

  5. I recommend your site to others. Many people do not know where to begin when they start blogging, and I say start with Problogger.
However, I have been blogging for years and your site is one of the few sites I keep coming back to. So I do not think your site is just for beginners.
I think the same could be said for your guides like ‘Pillars of Problogging’. Although some might see it as a review of known concepts at first glance, it is not. I do not see it this way. I have always been rewarded by your books regardless of how much I know, and I have been at it for years. This is because your guides not only add information and are updated, but their value is they add structure, to the chaos many people have in their heads, myself included at times.

  6. This is great stuff as it gives new bloggers a challenge in 2011, and if they read and take their time with each module in the course they should have some success with their blog, not like some who just follow courses and expect results overnight. It takes consistency and time to build traffic to a blog or any other website.

  7. Hi Darren,

Your courses are, in fact, a very efficient way for monetizing blogs, which is: through selling digital products on the internet. It is about time that we, bloggers, use different approaches for site monetization and one one them, is without doubt, this one.

You are already teaching us new concepts, even with the way you do your stuff.

Congratulations on this new course too!

    Regards,

    Marcus

  8. wow amazing course id love to be in on it nut the dollar – rand exchange is alot

  9. Congratulation in launching new program.

    X dot X

  10. i’m going to check this course out. i just started my blog and i NEED traffic.

    happy new year

    mike

  11. Hi,

This is great news. Been looking to overcome my number one nemesis in online marketing?

    Trafficsssss…………

  12. Hi Darren

Its always good if we get good traffic for the blogs which we write. You always make a point to teach new concepts to all readers and bloggers. We write blogs for our clients and we are sure with new ideas and concepts like this we can write good blog posts and sure to get good traffic to the blogs.

    Thanking you
    lakshmi

  13. Hey Darren,
Great idea to start a new course. I signed up.
    Thanks.

  14. We the masses of blogs out there, a course like this will definitely help people out… as long as that information doesnt then spread and your back to square one!

  15. Hey Darren,

New idea to get a traffic and also recognized by Google is absolutely a good idea.
I am starting my new blog and it will be nice to join this course :)

  16. Thank you for this. I have recently started trying to make money online with niche websites. It has been quite an uphill struggle. I never realised there was so much to learn and I thought I was going well sort of figuring out wordpress. Now I want to start a blog and I know that like my other sites getting any traffic will be a huge challenge. Picking up tips from the pros. is always a big help.

  17. Sounds like a great course. I especially need guidance on essential keywords since my blog covers such a broad area with so many options. maybe i need to be more specific, but there’s so many things i want to write about.

  18. That represents fantastic value for money. No more expensive than buying a book from a shop yet the content is considerably more valuable due to the fact that you can interact with other like minded people.

  19. Hi Darren,

Perfectly priced!… I’ll see you on the other side… :]

    David Edwards

  20. Hi Darren,
I am signed up already, can’t wait to hear what you and Chris have to share with us.
The last module for content has helped my blogging no end.
    Pete

  21. You are covering some topics here that I haven’t been able to fully warp my brain around, so it will be great to learn them from the pros. I am going to be attending Blissdom blog conference next week, so I am glad you will have it recorded!
    Bernice
Are you too busy to be yourself?

  22. Well, I definitely wouldn’t take the course and I would blame the price of it.Anyways, thanks for highlighting the points we need to concentrate to increase the traffic to our site.

  23. def seems like a worthwhile thing to invest in especially if in the end this course does help you gain traffic!

    I am extremely interested!

  24. That article does proivde a pretty accurate overview of the subject and I’m sure your course is really well done.

But from my experience it’s usually much harder to get a blog known than a regular site because it rarely is as organized and covers a multitude of subjects.

  25. This may sound a bit defeatist but this seems like a h***’uva lot of stuff to do. What happened to just posting an article and building links and submitting to blogroll and the like? Looks like you could be their all day just submitting to feed after feed.

  26. Knowing the ‘how-to’s” is 40%. Making yourself really do it is the 60%.

  27. Thank for the information Darren..

  28. Grate post Darren. Thanks for the idea. very helpful.

  29. I have already started some blogs at blogspot (blogger) and gained many information from problogger and from own experiences. Now I am in a tension about the topic to start a new blog. I hope someone will help me finding it out. On which, I will put investment to buy domain, hosting, adword balance and a very high quality theme from Genesis Framework. I will put all my eggs in that basket. But the only problem is about the topic. Can you help me out about this? I would be ever grateful. And of course be your loyal reader and subscriber (he who helps)! :) I have interest on sports, facebook apps & games, religion, in other blogs, reading books, finding about others, saying good about others and of course on WordPress!

    With thanks,
    Shafin.

  30. Great idea for a course!

  31. keeping what you said in mind, there is never shortcuts when blogging. Yes, there may be easier ways to do certain things but in the end, it always comes down to earning your stripes with knowledge that is learned but applied. I love blogging and even if I won the lottery, I would still blog.
Thank You Darren. Your posts are always a natural energy boost for me ! … :)

  32. I have just started my blog and I would like to try the steps you recommend but a little bit mixed :)

  33. I agree with you completely Darren and think that getting traffic is one of the greatest challenges in doing any type of website out there.

I don’t care if you have the greatest website in the world with the greatest content anyone has ever seen…even if it’s genius, if no one looks at it, it might as well have never been created by you.

At some point you’re going to need actual content instead of JUST a bunch of sales pages in order to get your name out there on the net in the first place. You’re going to have to give value to other people through how you type online.

Creating value for other people through information is a sort of art, part of your personality; part of your humanity has to be involved for someone to even relate to you.

People aren’t just machines that we put some code into and bam we get the result we want. Well I guess that’s only partially true because if we give value it seems we get it in return. My favorite way to do this here online (because of all of its benefits) is something called article marketing…I won’t go too deep into it on here for space reason’s but I wrote a blog post about it on my website, if you’re interested in this then please click here http://escapethemundane.net/blog/?p=196

  34. Posting four times a week, and commenting on 75 blogs or forums per week, has increased my traffic every day from when I first started. 8)

  35. I am sure that your series will be of some help to many of us who may know lots of tricks for getting traffic, but lack the cohesive gel that comes in the form of persistence and following a set path. I’m thinking that I must have seen hundreds of ways to generate traffic, but then I wonder what happened to them. Most likely I did not preserve them in a written form or somewhere else other than a computer hard drive. I look forward to the series.

  36. I’m curious – I’ve been blogging for about 8 years, have a rather large audience and am the number one ranked blog in Africa. Would this course assist someone like me, or is it more for beginners?

  37. This course is definitely a boon for beginners as you can learn the tricks to increase traffic to your blog.

  38. Many new and existing bloggers will find your course informative and practical. Having followed your blog over the last two years, I have learned an awful lot about blogging from your advice and strategy, and would highly recommend your site to all newcomers. Getting traffic is about being consistent, persistent and patient. Bloggers must remain enthusiastic and creative. If you only have one person who regularly visits your site, you are on the way to success. Do Not Give Up HOPE!!!!!!

  39. It’s more that just live SEO or offpage but we should also keep on sharing what we express so that we can get followers who can become loyal. Interaction is also important so readers know that they are important too.

  40. You can never have enough information, especially when it comes to blogging.

  41. Great post Darren…. Very well course for bloggers like me looking to gain more traffic

  42. Wow! These are straightforward tips to act on. I will try to go as you outlined here. Thank you Darren :)

  43. As a new blogger, I may have to take you up on this one. I have gotten so much great stuff from your blog(s)!

  44. Darren,

do you think this would work for me? I don’t have a traditional online business, in fact I practice cosmetic dentistry in Houston, TX. Looking to grow my dental practice online, and I think blogging is a great solution for me.

  45. Wonderful advice – it’s all about market and channel capitalisation!

  46. I have just started my new blog last week. I think that I can learn a lot from this course.

I’m hoping to be a part of it.

You always amaze me, Darren. Keep it up!

  47. Looking forward to this series!

  48. You are still a rockstar Darren, I am waiting for this too :-)

  49. Hi,

    This sounds interresting.

One question, what kind of exeprience level (blogger experienxe) is the main target for this course?

    Beginners, intermediate or Pro´s?

  50. I’m tired of struggling to get a few views from my 300 articles written and posted on article directories. I know I need to do more to get traffic and conversions but I think this will definitely help me increase my traffic and sales.
