More Blog Tips from Blog World Expo – Part 3

Last week at Blog World Expo I had the opportunity to speak with hundreds of bloggers of all topics, backgrounds and levels of experience. One of the things that quickly became evident as I spoke with these bloggers was that collectively the bloggers who had gathered together in Vegas for those few days had a vast amount of knowledge.

I decided to do my best to capture some of this on video and used my new Flip Mino Series Camcorder to interview 15 or so of them. Here are the first 3 interviews – Chris Brogan, Patsi Krakoff and Denise Wakeman and David Peralty.

Win a Dinner with the Money Blogger Panel

Also – as part of the ‘Make Money Blogging’ panel we’re running a competition where you can win a free dinner at a nice steakhouse with the panelists. Market Leverage is picking up the tab and it’ll be dinner with Shoemoney, John Chow, Zach Johnson, Jim Kukral, Brian Clark and myself.

All Day - b5 blogger summit – a full day of training that b5media is putting on for our bloggers. It is actually open to anyone with a BWE registration for free. See details on how to RSVP here. I’ll be doing a session on ‘finding readers’ at 11am. One addition to the shedule of this day is that Muhammad Saleem is going to do part of my session also!

3.30pm-4.45pm – How to Hire a Professional Blogger for Your Business – Panel at the Exec day of BWE.

6.30pm-8pm – Digital Photography School Photowalk – about 60 people are registered for this so far. Photographer Kris Krug is going to lead the walk. Get the full details of this here.

Saturday 20th

11am – 12pm – Making Money Online with a Blog – the panel that I mentioned above.

12.30 – 1pm – Book signing at the Blog World Expo bookstore (I’ve never signed a book in my life – this one will feel a little odd I’m sure)

6pm – Dinner with Make Money Blogging Panel (register above)

7.30pm onwards – BWE Opening Party

Sunday 21st

3pm – 4pm – Avoiding Disaster: How Not to Use Social Media – another panel, this one on social media.

Outside of these times I’ve got a few other meetings and b5media gatherings planned and am looking forward to hanging at the b5media booth (we’re playing poker) and taking in as many of the sessions as I can.

Apart from after the Money panel where I have to go sign some books I’ll hang around as long as I can after each one because I really want to meet as many people as possible and I know that with panels it can be hard to get all questions answered.

This makes the lineup – Brian Clark from CopyBlogger, John Chow, Zac Johnson, Jim Kukral, ShoeMoney and myself. It’s going to be some panel. I’m very excited because while I’ve met Jeremy and Brian before the other four will be first time meetings for me.

The only challenge is going to be that the session is only 60 minutes and with 6 of us it’s going to be hard to fit it all in! Hopefully we can find some time together outside the session to create some more good connecting and learning!

What do you get if you put Shoemoney, CopyBlogger, Chow, Johnson, Kukral and ProBlogger in the same Room?

It is running on 19 September at the Las Vegas Convention center and all we ask if you’re attending is to RSVP before hand so that we can make sure we’re set up adequately for those who are coming.

The day is designed to help our bloggers improve their blogging but will be relevant to bloggers who are not a part of the network also. It will include sessions with different members of our management team, channel editors and partners as well as a Q and A session with Board of Advisors (Robert Scoble, Doc Searls, Hugh McLeod, Renee Blodgett and Stowe Boyd).

There will only be one session that is ‘closed’ and jut for b5 bloggers so if you’d like to attend we’d love to have you. We’re not expecting hundreds or thousands of people to attend which will allow for more Q & A and personal interaction between presenters and attendees.

The sessions planned (and we’re still tweaking and locking in the times and topics) are:

I am planning to stuff my session as full as possible with tips on finding readers for your blog and hope to have time for Q & A and a little brainstorming together.

I’m going to Blog World Expo!

My exciting news is that I’m going to be attending Blog World Expo! I was waiting to see how we adjusted as a family to having a 2nd baby in the house and wanted to give my wife the chance to find her feet before jetting off around the world – but over the weekend we decided that I’ll be making a flying visit (I’ll be there fore 72 hours and on a plane there and back for 48).

I’m booked to be on at least three panels and I’ll be there to meet as many bloggers as possible and to have some fun do some work with the b5media crew.

The panels I’m listed to participate on are ‘Making Money Online with a Blog’ (with other speakers like John Chow, Brian Clark, Zac Johnson and Jim Kukral), ‘Avoiding Disaster: How Not to Use Social Media’ with Jason Falls, Lee LeFever and Patrick O’Keefe and ‘How to Hire a Professional Blogger For Your Business’ (a panel for the Exec and Entrepreneur conference on the 19th) with Jim Turner and Gregory Go. I’ll let you know if Rick decides to use me in any other sessions.

Looking at the BWE site at the moment there does seem to be some discounts available (up to 25%) for those registering before August 22nd so I hope some of you are able to join me there. You can book at Blog World Expo.

If you’d like to meet at BWE I’ll try to post my schedule as it gets closer – I’ll have limited time so try to get to as many of the parties and public gatherings as I can so as to meet as many ProBlogger readers as possible.

Blog World Expo (Winners of Passes) – I’m Going Too!

The reports that came out of BWE from thousands of bloggers were quite amazing. Rich networking, great teaching, showcases of services and tools for bloggers and much much more.

This year Blog World Expo is on again (20-21 September) in Las Vegas.

I’m hoping to attend this year (I’m 50/50 at this point as we’re waiting to see how our new baby settles before I travel again) as the list of people that I know who are attending is quite amazing. They’ve started compiling a list of speakers here. If I’m going I’ll be involved in at least one panel and probably another session.

I emailed the Rick Calvert CEO of BWE earlier in the week and asked him if they’d be willing to put up a couple of free passes to attend – he generously agreed.

The passes are worth $400 each – there are two of them to go to two separate winners.

So here’s how we’re going to give them away – it’s time for a commenting competition.

Before entering – you need to know that these passes do NOT include travel or accommodation they simply give you free access to the conference once you’re there. Please don’t enter if you’re not willing to cover your other expenses or be there as I’d love for someone to win them that are actually certain to use them!
