What Is Your Blogging Goal for February?

Posted By Darren Rowse 9th of February 2010 Reader Questions 0 Comments

A few days back I asked readers a question:

What Have You Been Putting Off and What’s Holding You Back?

Some of the responses to the question in comments (and via email and Twitter) revealed a lot of bloggers really wanting to step things up and get what they’ve been putting off done.

So – lets set some goals – what do you want to achieve by the end of February?

I’m not going to be calling you up to check up to see if you’re meeting your goals – but hopefully in putting them down publicly you’ll find yourself a little more spurred on to reach what you want to achieve.

My Goal for February: I want to get a new E-Book out the door by the end of the month.

  1. The figures for my site and social networks are going in the right direction :]

I think it’s time to give more back to the visitors as I’m coasting on the viral success of 2009. The aim is to post a new video by the end of the month…

    ;]

  2. Same here. I wish to write my first ebook.

  3. Hmmmm,

    – Definitely increase posting frequency.
    – Receive more comments and mail list subscribers.

  4. Please forgive if redundant. Not sure if my comment posted just a minute ago from my cell.

This month what I wish to accomplish… is reading your posts I bookmarked. I admit that I get a bit overwhelmed by all that can be done in blogging, so I just have to take it little-by-little.

  5. My goal for Feb – Right 500 words of premium content every day.

  6. My goal is to increase my audience of readers by providing them more and more excellent content.

How am I planning on achieving this goal? By asking my readers what they want me to give them more of and then deciding how I am going to do it and then… Doing it.

  7. Feb. is about continuing to lay the foundation and implementing what feels right.

This month, I’m planning a newsletter launch.

  8. I have a few general goals:

    1. To increase my traffic from 150 visitors per day to 250 (my blog is very new)
    2. To finish and launch my new design
    3. To release three podcast interviews

  9. I’m already making good progress toward my goal for the month. Trying to get at least 5 posts a week for two of my blogs and some serious article marketing done. Those are close enough to done that soon I’ll be able to work on some guest posting and income generation goals.

  10. I would like to post more on my blog this month.

  11. My goal is to get my first guest post hosted on one blog. Maybe it could be this one.

  12. New post every day. Not necessarily long each day, but definitely one decent review each week.

    So far so good.

  13. My goal for the month is to post regularly and to increase traffic by 10%.

  14. It’s funny but my goal is the same as your goal. I’m off overseas at the beginning of March so I really need to get my eBook finished by then. It’s great to have a deadline and I think publishing your goals is a great idea because it’s extra “incentive” to achieve them. Good luck everybody.

  15. Having only started out recently I am only averaging about 1.5 blog posts a week. I know such a newb right…

In February I hope to bump that average up to at least 3 posts per week. Still nowhere near where I would like to be, however its something that I would be very happy with achieving.

  16. I like reading other people’s goals, it makes me feel inspired. As for my goals for Feb, I’d like to:

    1. Increase my blog traffic by 10% and maintain that traffic
    2. Write at least 3 round-up posts (I have already done one as part of my Traffic Building exercise: http://eisabainyo.net/weblog/2010/02/08/7-days-traffic-building-exercise-%e2%80%93-day-5/)
    3. Start on my mini ebook

  17. 50% increase in traffic. I’m getting there slowly.

  18. Hmmm, it’s sad that this post made me think for the first time this year of actual goals. I feel lame now…

But the first couple that pop into my head would be to lower my bounce rate below 35% (at about 43% now) and to increase my organic traffic from Google and other search engines to over 25 a day. My current organic traffic is pretty low.

    • don’t feel lame Randy – sometimes it takes a while to get going when a new year starts. It’s better to start now than to not start at all with your goals!

  19. My Goal is to finish of my courses I have started over at http://www.createasuccessfulblog.com

  20. My goal for this month is to get my site out in the world so everybody can hear about it.

  21. I’ve had an idea for a guest post for a while. My goal is to finally write it and pitch it to a few blogs (you’re first on the list :-))

  22. I have a few general goals:

    1. Write a post every day

    2. Receive more comments.

    3. Write my new ebook

    4. Increase my Twitter followers(actually Is 5000+)

Good luck to everyone else with their goals

  23. my goal is to increase my traffic

  24. Well, I want to write a post every day. That one will be tough this month as I will be away from home for four straight days without a computer. I am converting over to a hosted WordPress site. That should be cool when it finally happens. I think that’s currently it for February, we’ll see how ambitious I am for March.

  25. Post at least twice a week – Who would have thought it was that hard….

  26. Hey Darren, welll I just launched by blog several days ago, so my goal for February is to first reach 20 subscribers! Might not sound like much, but it’s a goal and I think it will be a good start for me.

  27. My goal for Febuary is the same as my goal for the next 11 months. 20% increase in traffic. I’m just building a lot of new pages and links.

I figure if I get a 20% increase in traffic or better each month my site will grow to be 8.9 times it’s current size by the end of the year,

I really hope I can do it. I did it for January, so, so far so good.

I’m also launching a new site and hope to get 30-40 pages of content on it this month.

  28. My immediate goal is to build 10 quality links! Here’s my promo to kick start it:

PR2 site seeking similar for link exchange. Looks not important, but relevant content a must!

  29. My goal is to post a minimum of 3 times per week and complete my book a fortnight challenge as posted here:
    http://simonbunker.co.uk/the-great-book-a-fortnight-challenge-kick-off/

  30. Reach an average of 600 page views per day (this will give me the 1,800 pageviews this month

  31. my ultimate aim is to sell few e-books which are very useful for any new bloggers. It helped me a lot and I am sure it will be helpful for others too.

  32. NICE.. KEEP WRITING..I WONDER ON MY BLOG TEMPLATE.aFTER CHANGING TO THIS ONE ,MY PAGE VIEWS ARE INCREASED.. http://digitdiary.blogspot.com/

  33. Hi Darren, is this specific enough?

This is my plan for February (just launching my blog):

    1. Add 10 more posts to my blog
    2. Comment every day on at least one blog.
    3. Comment everyday on a relevant forum.
    4. Publish 4 articles at blog carnivals.
    5. Register at 4 directories.

Don’t forget I’m still holding a full time job, this has to happen at night and over the weekends – so I have my hands full!!

Thanks for the post, simple and love it.

    Ami

  34. i just want my Adsense payment on the end of this month

  35. True, increasing Google’s Pagerank could be an important goal depending on the site type and monetization choices.

  36. I’d like to make several sales and begin generating some real income by the end of the month.

I’d really appreciate any comments people could give me regarding my site’s monetization.

    http://www.effectivefamilycommunication.com.

    Thanks.

    Ben

  37. My goals are to attract 1,000 visitors a day into my Entrepinoy Bank site and workout diligently all the lessons in the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog ebook.

  38. I aspire to have 100 views per day, 10 comments per post, 1 or 2 posts per week on average and 10 loyal followers by the end of Februari.

  39. Reading all the ambitious goals above leaves me a bit breathless! Everyone is working so hard to increase traffic, offer great information… Each day I work on my blog for at least an hour, adding good content, and moving one step closer to finishing my ebook. There is just so much to do to get the site really humming!
Specific goal to achieve by the end of February: post 2 new videos to YouTube, optimized to bring traffic, and add four new posts each week.

  40. I spent the time building up content for The Invisible Mentor Blog and I have been very consistent with posting and have found my rhythm.
My goal now is to get subscribers, so goal for February 2010 is to get at least 40 new subscribers to The Invisible Mentor blog.

Thank you for allowing us to do this. Avil Beckford

  41. I would like to have at least one paid advertiser by the end of the month.

A common tip I read is contacting Google AdSense advertisers that show up on my site and asking them to become direct advertisers. I would welcome suggestions on copy for that contact letter or phone call.

    Thanks.

  42. My goal is to pass the 500 subscriber mark.

  43. I said farewell to all kinds of (new years) resolutions and the only thing I ask myself before I write a post or an article is this: is this what I’m doing right now adding value in some way to somebody?

It seems it is and I see the result in my stats.

Of course it’s better to have a goal to spur myself on. My goal is to get an Alexa rank under the 100.000 before the end of the month. I started out in the end of 2008 with a rank around 22 million. Somewhere in 2009 I reached 300k and fell back to 400k. This was the time I was depressed and did nothing with my blog.
Now it has a new direction and more audience than ever before. Today I reached the 198k mark.

I know there are many of you who have more exciting goals, but I just set one goal at a time and see what I can do next once it is reached.

    Have fun blogging!

  44. It’s wonderful to see that people have set goals, and so many of them are really specific. Without goals your business is merely a dream or a wish.

I keep a spreadsheet that’s an editorial calendar plus current statistics plus specific goal deadlines. Every morning I update the statistics and review my goals. I can start my day with a clear picture of where I am and what I need to do today to move forward.

  45. Eh, I would like to write my first blog post ;) My site is almost ready. I think it’s gonna be up and running before the end of February. After that, write and learn. I have patience, just wish I was more proactive with it…

  46. Darren,
    Our goal is same!!!!!

I am also writing a eBook (inspired by your so many post explaining why one should write an eBook)

Let’s hope this is done by this month end.

    Regards,
    Vijay

  47. I would like to do more Guest Posting this month. So, my goal is to have 4 guest posts out this month. I have 2 written and I pitched one of those. No response, but we shall see. :-)

    Kelli

  48. My goal is, up coming content and increase the readers!

  49. Great timing – I am switching jobs next week to start working at this agency http://www.microarts.com. The whole team contributes to their company blog, so my goal is quite modest – 1 post by the end of the month.

Separately, there are a couple ebooks I see mentioned that I would love to read. Darren, what is yours about?
