Awesome, awesome article! Thank you so much for sharing all these tips. I discovered Apture a month ago and I'm just completely blown away by it. It is a must-have absolutely brilliant plugin. It has so many features and I'm only using a handful of them. Thanks once again for these insightful tips.

great post. can't wait to read it. i've been using apture for almost a year now on all four of my blogger blogs. do you think you could do a post on some of the problems associated with Blogger-Apture-user 'previous post' and 'search site' not working. I'm getting so many compliments about Apture that I really don't have much to complain about (i'm just cc'ing this to you as Andrew might not be able to get around to it personally); but is there something you could mention about having to 'reset personal preferences' each time the same user logs in after computer restart.

And finally, is there some reason that Apture on Tumblr shows that its script has been installed correctly but goes to 'set-up mode' each time the user logs on only to receive notification that it's installed, at which time a user can utilize Apture across computer session, but then upon reloggin has to go through the steps again.

just little things, but I know since Apture guys are busy and can't get around to it, i thought maybe another user might be able to help. I've suggested assigning some of the messy day-to-day customer service tasks to an Apture intern or other low-level employee simply for the sake of good PR but it's like trying to get a first time loan, you have to already have good credit...and haven't received any response.

I'm still trying to experiment patiently after a year, but I'm afraid without savvy computer experience, it looks like there are just some things that should be left to the pros. I guess they call that job security. All the best, and thanks again for what the rest of the early Apture users have known all along: Apture makes blogging fun again! And I hope it just keeps getting better and better over what I suspect will be a very long career as the premiere developer of blooming-link enhancement (which at first, I thought sounded too much like an herpes outbreak but which after awhile kind of grows on you--It's got a Joycean ring to it!

And while I'm ashamed to gush and complain in the same comment, it's only because I love Apture so much. It's an honor and privilege to get to use Apture...AND FOR FREE. It's not like I'm one of your major media outlets and can shoot you off a nasty email or bluff his way into a response it's just that feeling loyalty like I do and at the same time enjoying knowing things are all in working order, I suppose it's just for sentimental reasons that I'd like to tie up the loose ends.

I hope one of your readers can offer a suggestion on any of the above issues I'm having with wonderful Apture which is free btw, and while I realize that you won't be paid either for your advice, I will forever be indebted, and hereby offer anyone who may be able to help a free link on any or all of my blogs which you may consider good indefinitely.

Started using it today :) Really easy to use, and thanks for tip 5 (updating published post with one click) - really takes away the pain of updating links. Next task for me is to really understand all of Apture's secrets from tip 8. Thanks again!

We just launched today the ability to save your Amazon Affiliate code right within Apture. This is going to make it very easy for bloggers to create additional revenue sources.

Hmm, yes, I know about the related posts plug-ins but Sphere is more like Apture in that it searches the net for all the related content whether it be blogs, wiki articles etc. The only thing is that it doesn't integrate into the article like Apture. It just sits at the bottom and waits for someone to click on it.

In fact I feel like its a bit of a traffic leak...

Began using Apture yesterday. REALLY easy and fun to use.

Everyone, on the Apture website they actually posted an interview on Avind Devalia (mentioned at the bottom of Mary's article). Its quite interesting check it out:

Thanks again for the very enlightening article Mary!

Hi Brian,

there are quite a few plugins that place 'related posts' at the bottom of each post. I tried out LinkWithin lately and it looks quite elegant. But I've deactivated it because I like to be in control of what posts I link to.

That's what I love about Apture - we are in control and can use it in skillful and creative ways.

Has anyone here ever heard of "Sphere related content" this is similar to aptur except it just kind of adds itself to the end of your post and offers some "places to go next".

After reading about Apture I think I"m gonna get rid of that and begin using Apture!

Thanks for the info!

Initially deligted but cannot get the clip function to work properly on embedding youtube videos. Can get it to jump in 20 seconds from start but cannot get it to stop 20 seconds before the end.

That is pretty cool about the Amazon widget. Makes it easier pick up some stuff when people mentions things that I like.

I have had Apture on my blog for about two months and only used it once because I felt that I had to take time out to learn how to use it. Thanks for this post because it was a reminder to learn how to use it. I just wrote my blog post for Oct. 21 and I used Apture to embed an audio clip and a photo and it was fairly easy. Using Apture enhanced my blog post by bringing it to life .Thanks again for the post.

This sounds like a great new tool. I am currently using Zemanta and Smartlinks. But I will do some research on Apture.

@ Andrew
I see that Laptop Memory is actually a commercial site and not a blog. Makes me think that the comment was aimed at getting people to go to the site. I would hazard a guess that the pop-up no-one has ever seen is pure fantasy :-)
