I have been testing many strategies for this amazon program with little results. I will try to implement your tips. They are logical and seem to work for you and your readers. So thank you for the tips. Also by using http://hubpages.com/_Mainpage1/ they allow you to write hubs about specific products and integrates amazon links for you. its a pretty nifty site is anyone like to write or blog.

Great post…but I’m wondering if there is a daily ‘traffic threshold’ you have to obtain before you can make any statistically relevant decisions on your user behavior?

Or better yet…is there a certain minimum number of daily visitors you must have before you can expect to make any sales on Amazon?

Also how long do Amazon cookies stay on visitors sites?

I’ve had 5 Amazon sales on my blog http://www.modelsandmoguls.com but not one of them were for the product/link I posted.

Good one, I got some tips, specially the one about promoting related items. And definitely, even if you want to talk only about big ticket items, the small, quick-moving ones help raise the percentage.

I have a question for you – when you track commissions on pre-orders AFTER the product becomes available, how can you tell if the earning is from that previous pre-order, or if someone bought the item that very day? E.g., I have 210 orders for item x in September, but no earnings. Then one day in October I see the earnings for item x trickle in… how do I know if this is from a previous order, or a fresh purchase that day?

Darren, 1 piece of advice I needed:

Mine is a Christian blog and I have put up Amazon text and image links for music. Can you suggest any related product that could be that “big ticket”? I plan to add books. In fact, I have already put up text links for the Bible at 3 places onthe page, so as people scroll down, they can see it. They don’t have to look too far.

Overall, a site which is a God-send for me. Keep it up!
