Theme Wars – Where WP Themes ‘Battle’
This is one of the cooler ideas I’ve seen in a while – it’s a WordPress theme site with a twist – ThemeWars.
Each week two WordPress themes are featured and readers are asked to vote for their favorite. While obviously the site’s about selling WP themes it’s also kind of fun and will be interesting to see what themes win each week. The winner gets put into the theme store once the week’s results are in.
Nice idea and the first two themes up for your vote are pretty nice themes too.

Totally agree. I love this idea…and us bloggers (i.e. not designers) can get access to real professional designers as well as some good design ideas.
Plus it gives designers some great exposure…which the good ones truly deserve.
Thanks for sharing.

Great concept !
More like a user oriented theme designing strategy which satisfies both the end user as well theme designer.

I like the Idea, so there’s a benefit for both the designer and the user. But i think a littel Comment section would be nice, to hear what the user really like or not!

Very clever strategy, seeing where the majority of demand lies and making it fun at the same time.

I checked it out. That’s original marketing. And by bringing the the readers in to vote gives it a touch of social media feeling about it. Good on “Theme Wars”. You stand out and won’t be forgotten by me.

I like the idea of “theme wars”, but I wish it wasn’t about premium themes. I guess everyone is just trying to make a buck.

Ive noticed woothemes.com are doing a showcase showdown where user modified themes go into battle against each other … some interesting stuff there as well.

Hope this idea takes off! There’s ton’s of WP themes out there, but most or not that great.
What I would really like is if you could give the themes a test drive and see how they run, how fast they load, how compatible they are… You can’t judge a book (ot a theme) by its cover!

creative ideal, but to me, most probably the site had to get more themes to let us choose, two themes a week seems to be less…

If only the themes were free, that would be something very nice. I think it would be hard to judge unless you installed the theme and tested it out to truly judge.

That’s neat. That’s like getting instant feedback for what kind of themes the WP community is wanting. I think that system has a lot of potential.

Great idea, but the best theme you make yourself. Just be creative and stand ou of the crowd.
That is what your blog makes unique.

It would be more fun with kittens and you could vote on which is the cutest! Oh wait, that’s been done. How about with hot chicks and you could say if they were hot or not? What, that’s been done too?

The theme war looks to be a good concept. Of course, there are many designers that want to compete. However, I like UBD the most. It develops the themes on continuous basis.
