  • My strategy is.. I have no strategy… However, I do tend to post more on the weekends as I have more time to spend. I figure that there are lots of people surfing the internet on the weekends as they have more time too. Not sure if that’s a good strategy so I’ll head to read yours now Darren.

  • This is perfect timing for me Darren. I’m still trying to figure out my weekend blogging strategy. I didn’t post anything last weekend and my blog still sustained its traffic, but I felt bad that my readers didn’t have anything to check out. I plan to post both days this weekend to see what kind of results I have in terms of traffic, comments and retweets.

My other concern is what I should actually be posting on the weekends. I was thinking that instead of a normal blog post, I should post a book review or some other lighter topic that won’t take up too much time for a reader.

  • The Casual Observer is a 7 day a week operation. Saturdays feature “Saturday Stew”, short recaps of news stories from the week.

Sundays feature “North of the Border”, featuring the writing of our Canadian writer, to bring a different flavor to the magazine.

On Mondays, I recap (and link to) the weekend’s post.

My stats are usually a bit lower on weekends, but the 7-day-a-week strategy is designed to build loyalty among readers who have something fresh to read every day.

I do usually try to get some future articles written during the weekend and scheduled for future publication. I already have Monday’s article written.

  • Hi Darren,

Thanks for the information that in weekends the traffic of many websites goes down. Because I was worrying that why my traffic is going down during weekends. It,s a pleasure to share my Weekend Blogging Strategy to you.

    Weekend Blogging Strategy

    1. During weekends I focus on posting more articles.

    2. But as you now for witting pillar articles it takes time and thus on Saturday I use to write general articles and on Sunday i introspect my skills to write niche of some 1200 -1500 words for each article.

    3. As i started serious blogging from some 49 days back and almost posted more than 780 articles. And thus these days no time for merry making.

    4. For me promoting by blog is as essentials as breathing. Although I don’t have any financial problems but a decision is a decision and I have decided to take my blog to the top most level …

    Thanking You
    Rajput

  • Found some less traffic than before but trying to improve.
A have add some new books …

  • I tend not to post a lot on the weekends for some of my sites, simply because I do see a decrease in traffic for the weekends. If I post something on the weekend, by the time Monday rolls around, it’s not fresh. I try to keep the fresh content rolling.

  • At the moment, I’m posting as and when I have an idea.. weekday, nights, weekends, anytime, but that’s because I’m of the opinion that my site is still new enough to just need content, not a strategy on how to get the most visitors/diggs/comments from a single post.

I can imagine if you’re a professional blogger, you may want to keep weekends free from posting (if you’ve done it all week), or, use that time to write a few posts for the next week.

Maybe my strategy will change, if I do start generating lots of traffic and/or spending more time doing it – I may even need a bit of a break at times, and that’ll be a nice position to be in!

  • I first started my Blog last month, so in fact i haven’t actually a strategy. But i think i will go in the same direction like Kosmo – write future articels and prepare the monday articel vor pupblication.

  • I’m still trying to figure out a good strategy, but I usually just start writing posts for the next week.

  • I usually fill up the Saturday post with a Gadget of the Week, which gives me a break from having to come up with something creative and thought-provoking on Friday night.

Then I skip Sunday because it gives me a small break and gets me amped up and recharged to go again on Monday morning.

I spend a lot of time with the family on the weekend, which is more important to me than my blog!

  • I usually do a Weekend Links post of my favorites from the week.

This takes little time, keeps traffic up, and lets me devote the rest of my free time to preparing posts for the upcoming week.

  • Weekends are used for behind the scenes stuff…New templates, ad campaigns, pages and maintenance. I don’t want to be stuck inside any more than my readers.

  • It really depends on how much I go out drinking that weekend. Sometimes I try to stay in and make sure I can post at least once a day. Other times I just say screw it, and leave the work for monday.

  • I was just thinking about to post or not to post. I think I will post something light during the weekend and prepare for better things during weekdays.

  • Interestingly enough, I tend to get more traffic and comments on weekends than on weekdays – I guess that depends on your niche.

So the weekends are when I publish and interact most. Funny…

    Anthony

  • i have a weekly feature that posts on sundays. i typically do not post on saturdays. and i do use the weekend to prewrite posts for the week.

  • I tend to write more on the weekends. Proof is there on my blog where my last 3 posts were written on the weekends.

And also it gives more time analyze what happening around you. So it allows to write un-pre-planned posts.

Ultimately my weekend strategy is I write more on the weekends:)

  • My strategy is that I post little, if not anything on the weekends. Traffic does sink but I feel that traffic would shrink down since the majority of my audience reads at work when they are bored.

Instead I use the time to write 5-6 posts that I schedule through the week, thus giving me balance in my own blog/work schedule.

Also the adventures I have on the weekend makes for great posts for Mondays.

  • Hi Darren,

Have you disabled including URL’s in the comments section?
I tried to include few examples 2 times, but I was unsuccessful.

    Akila.

  • Intresting timing ..
I always find Friday night the traffic is high .. but saturday for me and my blog is just boring time .. Even if you write .. hardly any views …
Sunday I have never posted .. but in the last few week do get good response on Sunday ..
Sunday is my day to think on some killer article and work for it ..
    Regards
    Sudeep

  • I’ve been thinking about this lately. I tend not to post on the weekends because traffic to my site is lower. But as a personal preference, I wish the blogs I read on the weekends posted more because I have more time to read! Still haven’t figured out my own balance.

  • Hello Darren- Lately, I’ve been trying to establish a regular posting schedule, so that I do a post twice during the work week, and one post on the weekend. A lot of other blogs I read use a weekend post to give a round up of links to other blog posts they liked, so I’m experimenting with doing the same thing.

  • I’m new to blogging (or I should say, new to blogging to an audience beyond my mom) and I’m just now starting to pay attention to what factors increase and decrease hits and unique visitors. I’ve just recently learned that certain days of the week are heavier internet days than others. Interesting. Not sure how that will impact my strategy yet.

  • In the past, I tried to write extra posts to keep traffic up, but the results weren’t really worth the extra work for me. Now, I use the additional time to get ahead with my writing and to work on related projects.

  • I take a weekend break :D

  • I had try to post everyday to keep traffic level up but still it seems like my traffic is remain low. I got try to write all the posts and schedule it to show off automatically.

  • As i post offers from airlines/travel sites that have just released special offers, discounts, upgrades etc, I try to post on as quickly as possible. However, during the week, when i’m actually paid to work, this can be hard, so I save it for the venings, and Saturdays as soon as possible.

Motto: The sooner the better for me !

  • Blogging, especially if you do it full-time, can be very stressful. I reserve the weekend for myself and my family. I usually do one post that is geared towards lightening up the mood.

  • I usually try to write on or two posts for the upcoming week on Saturday morning and unplug until Saturday night. I try to take Sunday off completely. I believe there is less traffic on the weekends especially during the summer.

  • I have recently started posting on Saturdays since some seem to think that’s a good day to see some stickiness. I also lay out my strategy for the rest of the week — especially if there is a big holiday or event I had hook into.

  • My blog has been live for a little over 3 months now and I’ve sustained posting every single day, even on weekends. It’s been rough some days and I still haven’t gotten into my “groove” yet as I still struggle to figure out the best way to schedule my postings.

Even though my traffic dips on the weekend like a lot of sites, I’ve now scheduled a series of posts that are strictly fun that go up on Sundays. These posts are fairly quick and easy to write (well, okay, an hour) for 500-600 words but my readers seem to enjoy them. Oddly enough, I’ve gotten more comments for these posts than for some of my pillar content or more heavily researched posts.

As my blog and I keep evolving, I’ll continue to fine tune. Hopefully the 7-day posting can ease up a bit as I find the clue to writing posts in batches. I can usually do 2-3 days worth, but it still takes me hours to do them and eats up a big chunk of time.

  • So far…I don’t have one. My blog is new, and so I think I’m going to focus on writing more articles, and maybe use the weekends for special posts, such as news, reviews, etc?

  • I usually post on Saturdays, but take Sunday off – though I’m not sure this is the best strategy. In my niche, I’ve actually seen some traffic spikes on Sunday evenings as folks get ready for the new workweek.

  • My readers are moms so they are mostly offline with their families on the weekends, so we don’t usually post on the weekends at all. Our regular schedule is to post Mon – Fri.

I just started a new feature called “Sponsor Saturdays” where I will write a blog post about one of my six sponsors each Saturday. I have 6 125×125 banners on my site and I want to create a way to draw more attention for my sponsors. Today is the first one with a giveaway and it seems to be working!

  • Great questions and I’ll try not to English professor your post. ;)

I do most of my writing during the week. The items on my site can be categorized in two ways, according to how they’re written and how long they are: in-depth pieces (lengthy) and shorter/newsier items (”blurbs”).

The longer pieces I tend to publish during the week and generally alone (that’s the only post that day). I often run one of those on Sunday as well, which is a big day for my blog’s traffic and bleeds over into Monday’s crowd without being pushed too far down the RSS list.

The other, shorter pieces I tend to run in groups with 2-4 of them publishing during the day and Saturday (my blog’s slowest traffic day).

I post to my blog 7 days a week, but usually schedule posts rather than doing them on the spot. I generally post 2-3 days’ worth of stuff all at once and take the interim time to write he lengthier pieces, which are often a week ahead of themselves for posting (what I write today may not publish until Sunday next week).

Since my blog’s focus is environmental issues, the only thing I have to publish in a very timely manner is political news. Otherwise, it’s all about seasons, not minutes. :)

That’s my strategy and I’m building my blog based on that. I’m tweaking some of the timing here and there to try to maximize the days of the week postings, since the only day I have down for sure is Sunday/Monday and Saturday.

I’m also working on blog back-end items (aka the website as a whole) and am working on a free giveaway pamphlet/ebook to start building a list with a planned followup ebook for sale.

My main focus is content and my particular niche, of course.

Thanks for the post and questions! Made me think a bit.

  • I tend to write more indepth, thoughtful articles on the weekend because I have more time to spend on them. I think it’s the perfect opportuntity to work on your blog – week days are often very busy due to work.

  • If I’m home, I do some articles that I post later on for the week since I don’t have that much time during the week. I also do some tweaking on my blog, or just read up on how to improve or drive traffic for my blog.
If I have some more time for overs, I do some work on some projects that I want to sell later on after I have managed to get readers.

  • Weekends are when I get all of my story ideas straight. Usually, I have 3-4 draft posts going at once, so the weekend allows me to focus on any new material I might need for those posts and finish them up.

It’s also a great time to do research for new posts. I don’t worry too much about the low traffic on the weekends. For me, the blog is practice for writing my management book. The more practice, the better the book.

  • I use weekend to write my posts and schedule it day wise all the week. From two weeks I am publishing 1 post a day.

  • Well, my strategy is to write a good post, and market my blog..
Marketing is very important especially for bloggers like me who are new to the blogosphere and don’t use adsense..!!

  • I generally try to post one article per day six days per week. I generally don’t post anything on Sunday and if I do it is usually an update about changes to my blog or a reminder of any existing contest that is taking place.

I generally spend Saturday morning developing and finalizing my articles for the coming week.

  • Hi Darren,

I only post articles twice a week, Monday and Thursday, and the weekend is when I get a fair amount of my writing done.

I may add another very short post on the weekend.

  • This weekend I plan to work on three blogs. On one I will be working mainly on pages and not posts to build content. On another I’ll be adding about 8 to 12 articles to it and doing some “under the hood work” and on the third I’ll probably just put a few posts up just to freshen it up a bit. Oh yeah and I’ll create a few new hubpages, possibly add to an existing squidoo lens.

Sounds like a lot of work but aside from the 8-12 new articles most of it is filling in some blanks on templates and cleaning up some articles that I’ve let sit and stew for a while.

  • Hilarious Freudian slip on your part, Darren. “Do you use the weekend to write posts for the next week because you’ve got extra time on my hands?” Well, we know who does do this, LOL.
I have had some family problems lately that have paralyzed my blogging muscles. I’m just getting ready to start again. But when I am in my normal blogging mode I use the weekend to stock up my editorial calendar, maybe start a few posts with notes in them in draft form, find some images to put in them, and also to brainstorm.
I keep two lists, one on the calendar with actual scheduled posts, and one on just a pad where I write random bits of inspiration. Then over time these bits of inspiration find their way from the pad to the calendar.
You’re the greatest and a continual source of motivation and admiration! Thanks for your blog, Darren.

  • For me, is not to post on the Sunday (rest day for me), Saturday will still post (not that frequent).

Will focus more on weekdays (as I am a full time Internet marketer).

Saturday will be days for me to plan my blog on what to do and what to post.

  • I post more in the weekends to get my monthly average to 10 post / day, due to lot of work at my profession, So need to keep the pace on both sides.

  • I don’t tend to blog post at weekends. I do marketing and learning. I am a member of several memberships and we share ideas, learn from each other and I catch up on what other experts and gurus recommend. If I like the ideas I try them out – could be as simple as a new WP plugin or a complete layout/redesign of my blogs.

  • I have seen from my past historical analytics data that on saturday and sunday i get least traffic , I use thiknowledge and post the least on weekends . I mainly work on weekend on articles and publish it on days when most traffic is likely to arrive , thats Tuesday or Wednesday .

Its works for me , Is it true for others also :)

  • I post about twice a week.
    sometimes on weekends.
my strategy is to write good and interesting posts

    http://www.sporteilat.co.il

  • I fall into the category of:

“Do you write posts in advance and schedule them to go off automatically?”

    and

“Do you use the weekend to write posts for the next week because you’ve got extra time on my hands?”

It really is about catching up for me because the rest of the week is dedicated to the 9-to-5.

  • I tend to do most of my posting on weekends as I work T,W, & Thurs. I don’t seem to suffer from it. Most of my followers tend to play catchup on Monday anyway and go back to read the posts they’ve missed.

  • Hi Darren! Nice post :)
I really don’t have a strategy yet. However, I have some thoughts around the subject:
Up until now, I’ve spent the weekends thinking about how to develop the blog further, scribbling down blog post ideas and doing a bit of reading to be inspired. I don’t feel like working too much on the blog itself and longer posts during the weekend. Weekends are time off, right? ;)
I don’t see more traffic during the weekends – but I might try posting some to test it out.
Thanks a million for doing this blog, by the way. I learn a lot and try out your advice as often as I can.

  • I usually post my blogs on fridays! checkout this site

    http://www.earnmoreonline.webs.com

  • My weekend strategy has been to fire off many short posts highlighting cool T-Shirt designs. I am attempting to grow a consistent readership. I save longer posts, what I call verbal weightloss for weekly posting but often work on them during the weekend.

  • I blog a little more over the weekends – 2 posts a day instead of my usual one. On Saturdays I have a weekly round-up of the things we have been doing in our week with link backs, and a Saturday Spot: a place in our lives – either a review of a tourist spot in Cape Town or just a “place” around our home… On Sunday’s I have a Sunday Snippet: Which is usually a Sunday School idea or a book review on a missionary or a Christian parenting book of some kind… and from the first week of blogging these were my “highest traffic posts” I think the lull in other blogs around the world means people are browsing around and coming through… I never would have expected my Sunday posts to be looked at let alone big traffic posts (hardly controversial!) – but I am surprised every week.

Great question it just raises the diversity of the different types of blog out there!

  • Running a Blog about financial markets and instruments meens that a major part of my readers visit my Blog during business hours and when financial markets are open. Therefore I use the weekends to write posts but i publish them during weekdays.

  • I just write an article so that I won’t have to worry If I can’t think of anything ahead of time.

Before I used to use the weekends to write as much as I could because I had all of that extra time, now though, I use the rest of my free time on the weekends to promote my sites.

  • I usually blog less, trying to enjoy life more. Sometimes completely off if I need to refresh my mind, sometimes just less, sometimes still full if I feel like it. I try to blog without killing myself and follow my passion :D

  • Really don’t have a weekend blogging strategy. Since, I am a newbie to blogging, my strategy is to diligently blog everyday.

    I am already seeing progress.
I’m now telling myself that your writing skills will get better with practice instead of screaming “you can’t write”.
Big progress. Huge! Obviously, the thought came from God; He’s must be a problogger too.

I’m still working on the 1st step of your previous blog, 9 first step goals for new bloggers. Stay tune.

    Thank you.

  • In the past, I took the weekends off or spent the time doing the blogging for the week. Now, I will occasionally do a post just to get a few readers who are online for the weekend.

I also find the weekends a good time to get new readers through Twitter.

My last ditch effort is canvasing the streets with a sandwich board that reads “Will work for more readers–possible drop pants”. Hasn’t had the reaction I’d hoped.

  • Well, since my day job is selling real estate, and my blog is where I pontificate, and occasionally rant about the real estate market, as well as provide some sort of value to my local community, hopefully, blogging on the weekend is no different than blogging during the week.

    It’s 115 degrees today in Scottsdale, so the first thing on my mind is {find water, stay cool, hydrate}. The second thing on my mind is, {find water, stay cool, hydrate.}

In Real estate, weekends are when people go hunting for homes, so I will typically find myself sitting at an open house with my broadband card, commenting on other people’s articles and implementing technologies on my websites.

  • I post 7 days a week. To give my writing schedule some breathing room, Saturdays are reserved for a photo/quote and Sundays showcase a favorite link of the week.

  • I post Sunday through Thursday. I’m new to blogging and trying to establish a routine.

  • I tend to keep the same writing routine all 7 days, but weekends I tend to spend a lot more time focusing heavily on overhauling traffic to posts from Monday – Friday. I also spend weekends really focusing on building up my Facebook/Twitter/etc.

  • During the day I take a break to spend time with family but once the little ones have gone to bed I’m researching and writing as much as I can so I can free up some of my blogging time during the week. Having a couple of posts ready before the week starts takes the pressure off (especially if I have a couple of language podcasts and lessons as they tend to take a long time.)

  • At the weekend I spend most of the time editing the blog pages on my blogs rather than publishing post.

  • At the weekend I spend most of the time playing games

  • In winter i take a lot of my photos for the week since lighting isn’t so good during the week when only nights are available to me. And I’ll often do longer, more time-intensive posts on the weekend because I don’t need to rush.

  • I usually go with the “relaxation” approach, while also trying to catch up on blog “maintenance” tasks like updating plugins.

I will also take my time and catch up on my RSS feeds, leave comments on many blogs, check in on forums, etc. – everything I’m usually too busy to do during the week.

I also try to write a few posts for the upcoming week, and if I come across an interesting tidbit, I’ll post it (”blog light”).

In general, I found that blogging full blast through the week and having to continue the pace through the weekend was just too much.

  • It depends on whether I’m working or not…I treat the weekend like every other day, if there’s something to write about I’ll write it.
This week for example I’m working both yesterday and today, so I won’t have much time for it this time.

  • I don’t post on the weekends. I keep them free for having fun, catching up with people and relaxing.

I post Monday to Friday but because I’m based in Australia and we’re ahead of the US (where many of my readers are from), I have a light (humorous) post on Mondays (ie Sunday US time) and I finish the week with a question post. Readers seem to like the interaction and they have more time to answer it over the weekend.

  • Based on the analytic stats, I found out that my blog’s traffic is slightly getting more compare to the weekdays. Hence, I prefer to put more posts during weekend. But, sometime I need work alternatively on Saturday and Sunday.

    The iPhone Blogging

  • When I first started blogging (not too long ago) I did just as much on the weekends as I did during the week.

I homeschool my four kids and have lots to do around the house and found that I was really stressing out since adding the part-time job of blogging.

I decided to quit blogging on the weekends to give myself a break. I have found that I get just as many visits on weekends that I don’t publish anything as I did when articles were going out.

So, now I write up all my articles on Monday and publish one each day, Monday through Friday. I use Saturday and Sunday to do other things!

  • First I try to write more post but nothing happen so actually I take a rest on sundays or maybe I publish only one post

  • I don’t know if this is a strategy per se, but I don’t generally post on the weekends unless I am reposting a column I’ve written on another blog. I write a weekly music column on another dad blog, so usually on Sundays I’ll repost it on my blog. I’m also in the process of doing a guest spot on another blog and when those go live I will be reposting them on the weekends until the 5 post series is over. I do four different memes each week and Mondays I save for some link love for my fellow bloggers, so my schedule is pretty busy to do much more for the weekends.

  • On Sundays I post a weekly reading list with links to other articles and posts I thought were worth sharing that week. They are mostly related to the main topic of my blog at the moment, international adoption and the issue of race in the US. I collect the links all week, so it’s pretty easy to add some commentary and whip up a post at some point on Sunday. I’ve been doing this for about two months now, and I find it interesting that these posts usually get fewer comments than my other posts but just as many (if not more) page views. I guess everyone is so busy reading what I recommend that they don’t have time to comment!

  • My strategy on weekends is to stay away from the desktop in the morning and do the following:

    1. Wash clothes
    2. Clean the room.
    3. Iron clothes
    4. Pick up a book and read.

It’s hard to be reflective in front of the computer. So many distractions. I find it useful to do physical, repetitive tasks at home to mull over my plan for the coming week. Yes, I don’t have an editorial calendar yet – you can shoot me now. lol

Great ideas swirl in my head when I wash my clothes for example. It’s the darndest thing having to dry your hands to jot down a useful idea – otherwise it might be lost. So I have index cards and pen ready whatever household chores I do at the moment.

So that’s it. I get to straighten my room and restore some order in my little universe and I’ve got to plan for the coming week.

  • We do not post on the weekends because we don’t have that many readers visiting on the weekends.

We try to write new posts for the upcoming week on the weekend and then schedule them to post to the blog automatically. Note, I said we try. So some weekends we get some posts written and scheduled, but not all the time.

It is our goal to use at least one of the weekend days to either write posts for the week or to brainstorm for new post ideas.

    GossipSecretaries

  • For the start up bloggers, post more often seems to be more important to show the readers that you are serious with blogging.

After series of trials and errors, updating post everday worked out the best for me. I will feel bad for my readers if I miss one day of update.

  • I post my new articles during weekends because I have more time to do this. I look forward to weekends because this is the time that I am able to concentrate on blogging. lol..

I could only blog after work during weekdays that’s why.

Even then, there are times that work would still occupy my weekends as well.

I would resort to multi-tasking then: writing a new post, emailing, sometimes twittering, and accomplishing the paperwork I have brought home.

    Happy weekend!

  • Saturday is an awesome time to post and get good activity going on. I personally don’t write (although I obviously still read and comment other blogs!) over the weekend, but I do typically write in advance and schedule to post throughout the weekend.

  • I schedule new posts to go up automatically for the weekend. If I have some extra time and feel like writing, I’ll begin next week’s posts.

For the most part though, I take time off to relax.

  • If I’m inspired to write, I write. If I find something interesting to post, I’ll post it (video, etc). I generally don’t worry too much about keeping a specific schedule as long as I get a few posts in every week.

  • since this is officially my first weekend as a blogger, i’ve yet to adopt an actual strategy. however being that i’m making a comment here means that i am committed to creating back links whenever i get the chance–weekday or weekend. but i’ll have to come up with a real strategy someday. while for today, i just went out and enjoyed the beach on sunny malibu!

  • In general, I focus my efforts on weekend. for two reasons: 1) I have more time on the weekend and 2) many other blogs seem to go on a break on weekends (to spend time with family etc.).

The minimum I do, is post my “big article” of the week on friday – but usually I also schedule a post for saturday or sunday.

Then I focus on marketing and driving traffic to the post, I’ve noticed this is easier on the weekend, but maybe it’s just me as like said, I’m more active on the weekend. Sometimes it pays off, like my post for this weekend picked up over 120 clicks through twitter already = personal best so far :)

  • I usually post on the weekdays, and spend the weekends editing or improving my posts, gaining traffic, reviewing my weekly stats, and pre-writing.

  • I post sometimes on Saturdays. I used to post 6 days a week but since the summer is usually busy here for us I’ve cut it down to about four and have a contributor. On the weekends I catch up withh my emails and write a few posts for the next week or two. Unless the post is time sensitive I write them well in advance. I also do some admin stuff and do some social networking on the weekends. I try not to post anything on Sundays.

  • Due to commitments at work during the week, I find that the weekends are the only time I really get a chance to write for my blog.

  • I prioritize my posts for during the week, but I will also post on the weekend. I don’t really have a good feeling which people prefer. I just know posting regularly is important.

  • I post on Mondays and Thursdays only, so the weekend is days off for me. Well, they’re supposed to be days off! I have so much else to do on weekends that it’s nice not to have to worry about the blog.

  • I relax and contemplate on what my blog is for. I think more than doing the writeup job. I mainly think about the posts I’ve written and those that I must write next.
When I’m not focused on writing more and keep away from the routine job, I can better think and plan for the coming week.

  • Since I blog mostly about local politics, weekend readership is light and I usually put up cultural events, entertainment or lighter stuff, including photo galleries. Much of this is prepped ahead of time, giving a little much-appreciated free time on the weekend. I’ve considered not posting at all, but noticed that tho traffic drops off, about 40% check in on the weekend, so they should find something fresh waiting there.

  • During weekends I normally rest. The idea is to let the brains to “clear the water” for the upcoming week. But sometimes, like to-day, I just want to blog or to write blogcomments.

  • I post less because I’m away from the computer more.

  • GoGoMamaGo.com publishes four or five days a week and complements my main business. I usually try to get my posts done during the week, but my core business and other activities like Twitter usually dominate my weekdays. So weekdays tend to be spent on coming up with ideas, reading other people’s blogs, and knocking them off on the weekend. I’ve been queuing them up for release during the week.

However, I’m wondering if it would be better to publish during the weekend since people’s RSS readers would be less crowded during the weekend and maybe a article published on the weekend would garner more attention. Hmmm….

  • I write posts in advance and schedule them to go off automatically basically, but…. I write four or five ( mainly four ) strong content posts weekly, in the days between, write comments or tips about the blog improvements ( see that the public is new in blogging and so many 50 or 55 years old and begginners in internet communications ).
In the past months the readings drops down in the week ends, now it performs the same views as in the weeks days, I suposse – statistics confirms it – that the views have an increasing pattern.

  • I normally take a rest on the weekend. I think everyone needs a break from everything sometimes :)

  • During the week, I’m usually too occupied with research activities or school work. The weekend is a good time for me to just pump out drafts and ideas for blogging content that typically manifest over the week. I’ve only managed to successfully write an entire week’s worth of scheduled content in one weekend once though. There was a really good feeling when I pulled it off, but I haven’t done it since. I’d like to do it more often.

  • Sometimes I have to post on Weekends if I didn’t have enough time to post in the week, but I agree with those that say they don’t do much on weekends cause traffic is down.

I like to spend time preparing for the next week, getting some blogs prepared and getting some Tweets scheduled up so that during the week, when I actually do want to get out some content, I won’t have to battle the busy days as badly :)

  • I tend to post less as the weekends are filled with lots of jobs that need to get done!! They are over way too quickly!!

  • Hi Darren,

This question is a lil backwards for me since I work on the weekends and have the week off. I spend my time off work (the middle of the week) doing extra posts and research. I try to post everyday, but I tend to run out of ideas. I think I should take a day and make a goal of writing 100 post ideas then use the ideas throughout the week.

    Kris,

  • I am using the weekend to prepare for the week, if not weeks, to come so that I can be ready to populate my blog with contents.

I do recognize slow traffic over the weekend. I guess this will also be an opportunity for new bloggers to get their story read? no? less competition?

  • Always post on the weekend as it’s the only time I have with a full-time job

  • Hi Darren,

I use the weekends in a variety of ways. Sometimes (like today) I’m feeling the need to post on a few of my blogs so I’m cranking up the mindset. What I write today, I’ll post today. I’ve found Mondays to be kind of poor in terms of traffic or whatnot. I think it’s because there are so many things posted on Mondays that it’s easy to get lost in the fray. Tuesdays seem to be a good day.

Regardless, I’ve not problem posting on a weekend but I’ve no specific strategy that I follow.

    Cheers

    George

  • Weekend = less people online = less posts to write = less traffic!

  • I try to post on the weekend to keep up the traffic. It seems to work

  • I find the weekends a good time to strategize and write for the coming week. If possible, I schedule posts, tweak adverstising and add content. Always looking to boost traffic.

  • I typically use the weekend- specifically Sunday- to write two to three posts for the coming week. Helps me get a headstart on things because you never know what life will throw at you.

  • Write extra posts during the week and schedule them to be published on weekends.

Weekends are there to enjoy :)

  • This is certainly a thought provoking post! Since I write a food/recipe blog, I use the weekend to cook, develop, and photograph recipes. During the week, balancing work and “regular” blog work (writing, photo editing, etc.) can make it hard to create new material. So, the weekend lets me relax and focus on why I started blogging to begin with.

  • I tend to only post important things on weekends, like if I’ve been to a protest, or done some major writing or some world breaking event has happened. I don’t go out of my way to post because traffic usually drops on the weekend.

Except this Saturday, my blog got featured on StumbleUpon and I logged on to find my traffic went through the roof.

  • I don’t post on the weekends. I keep them free for having fun, catching up with people and relaxing.

  • I do a lot more blog reading and email reading, getting ready for the week to start writing posts.

  • I usually post on week end, This is the time for me to think and write peafully.

  • I used not to post on weekends, but recently changed that into posting the series of articles, one connected to the previous posted the weekend before. The first results are quite good and I intend to continue doing this.

  • In my week end , I just make some unique and usefull article. Add some friends on social networking…

  • I avoid it. Our traffic goes down anyways, I’d rather work on it during the week.

  • Thats an interesting question because visits are much less on the weekend even as much as half or more. I’ve been trying to decide what to do but in the end I tend to post daily anyway. Or at the least one of the days.

  • i am enjoying my weekend. most probably going to a film or playing cricket with my friends. also take a note of next week post plans……..

  • I am VERY new at blogging -I just started my first one last week, but I bought your book a month ago and have been following your posts faithfully. You provide the greatest information!
As for weekend post, right now, I am a “weekends off limit” blogger, due to my hectic work schedule.

  • As for the weekends, I don’t blog on the Sabbath (Saturday), but I find that I usually do some really good writing on Sundays.

  • i take a break, because i need to…but i check in on twitter and catch up with my rss feeds, and make plans for the following week. ok, that’s not really a break, but it’s easier to wander about the internet like a civilian, knowing you’re not going to post that day.

  • I decided early on that I would lose my mind if I posted with the same frequency on weekends that I do during the week. I write 1-4 (mostly 2-3) posts per weekday. So many weekends I don’t post at all. Some weekends I post once.

  • I am developing that strategy now. I try to do more writing during the weekend so that I have posts ready for the work week. I definitely see a drop in visits during the weekend, which is why I am using this strategy. Of course should that change, so would my approach.

  • I blog mostly on the weekends because that’s when I have the extra energy, not at the end of a long workday as I relax in my chair.

  • My strategy is to NOT blog at all.

I find I enter the week refreshed and ready to create useful content. Weekends for me are for family and friends, not business :)

  • As for the weekends, I don’t blog on the Sabbath (Saturday), but I find that I usually do some really good writing on Sundays.

  • I often take a break on weekends by using the strategy I wrote about in one of my recent post, “How to Post Daily Without Posting Daily” http://bit.ly/wxQCX.

In short, I blog and post in advance.

  • I enjoy weekends with my family, not computers, wordpress stuff on weekends.

  • i usually use my weekend to write some posts for the next week…it’s too busy to write posts on work days doing office works…

  • Since I run a technology based blog I find that most of the cool new releases occur during the week, but I do post on the weekend, mostly stories I may have missed or if I need to get caught up. Since I just went full time with my online content writing this week I think I should be able to turn out more articles during the week and focus on featured pieces during the weekends rather than churning out news. I guess the strategy employed depends on the type of blog I am writing.

  • I take a weekend break

  • I don’t have any weekend blogging strategy, sometimes I’ll write a post during weekend, sometimes I’ll not, depending on how much time I have on weekend because I’m taking part time course in my local, so I have to go University during weekend.

    Regards,
    Lee

  • sometimes I’ll not, depending on how much time I have on weekend because I’m taking part time course in my local, so I have to go University during weekend.

  • As someone else said, no strategy is my strategy. I do it only if some thing comes to my mind and i feel like blogging it.

  • Weekend is without any new posts. However, i often write the most inspired ones ready for the Monday then as I have more time to get things sorted out.

  • The weekend i only monitor the results of my work from the last week! I don’t do any posting on weekends!
The only exception is that something comes to my mind and i want to let it go and blogg it!

  • Sprezz Central is marketed as a morning read throughout the work week… my readers don’t check it on the weekend so I like the time to recharge and let some ideas peculate.

With my blog, I find if I write TOO much in advance, the posts have a stale feel to them but the weekend can be a great time to bounce ideas off of friends.

I’ll usually come up with my Monday post over the weekend and just let the ideas flow to me.

  • I get lost on Saturday afternoon and come back on sunday evening. I spend a lot of time reading content from various magazines, newspapers, and blogs. I like to read at starbucks because of the atmosphere and the friendly people.

I like to think alot about what I’m going to write about and I ‘m sure this isn’t the best way to get traffic so I have vowed to change and just start writing.

  • What a comment list! Does this mean that week-end blogging is so popular or that people has so much to tell about that?

  • i post mainly on weekends
this is my second blog, some time i post every other week.
or when i feel like :)

  • I am planning on making weekends an opinion weekend. Basically, I will talk about something totally unrelated to the norm. By doing this, readers will have a chance to be on a bit more of a personal level with my writing style and opinions. I mean, it is only 2 days out of the week, so why not?
