Building credibility in the Indian context is especially difficult. People here worry more about whether a person has MBA or not rather than focus on the skill set or the person’s achievements. The scenario is shifting a bit though, thanks to the onslaught of new media and web 2.0. A lot of young people are also questioning the old ways of doing business. You don’t have to wait for your MBA to start a business, if you have an idea, balls, and the know how to make something work, they’d just go ahead and startup something. I think the future is bright for young people who are willing and able to take the reins.

The younger bloggers actually have a better advantage of getting noticed, I feel. Once you have been around a few blocks, sometimes you get set in your ways. But when you’re young and fresh, the world is your oyster.

very inspiring! As a “young” blogger myself, I’ve experienced some of these same things. So it’s great to read how other bloggers are gradually building credibility and making age a non-factor or even an asset. I like to focus on the later because believeing in your content even if it seems like it’s different gives you an added advantage to test, try and experiement with new ideas. :)

Content is king. That is why my blog is dedicated to getting articles from the top proffesionals in their field. Theres is so much knowledge to be shared with our generation so that we can meet and surpass the experts of the past. I am still in the start up process. There are so many successful people out there to choose from.

It was very interesting how you wrote about getting tier 1 media. In what stage of your developing business/blog do you feel is a good time to go out and get this attention?

I gotta say i actually disagree with some of the thoughts in this post. Mainly, my fav. finance blog, the simple dollar, is written by someone with no “official” experience or credentials. Still, he provides great isnights and tips.

The main thing is you can build credibility. If you read enough and show your education, you become an expert. Like tip #1, provide quality.

Yep it all comes down to quality content. If you produce quality content that helps people, teaches them something, improves their life- you will get links, word of mouth, be able to sell lots of your product, get the a listers in your niche working with you and promoting your product, get higher search rankings etc etc. It all comes down to quality content mixed with a bit of marketing, age doesn’t matter.

Excellent words you two. Personally I have found it very difficult to work with the leaders in my niche, I have found that the up and coming are much easier to work with. I also think it is good to spend alot of times on successful blogs and incorporate their methods into your practice. Anyway Good post.
