This is a push in the direction I needed. I just scheduled a networking night for my local readers to meet. The response has been unbelievable. My husband calls my blog my “enterprise” and is hoping it grows! I need to listen to you and get an actual logo.

@Tim Scullin: It really depends on how serious you are about your blog. You can try developing your own logo for starters and then once your blog begins to take off a little then you may want to consider paying a designer. For me it came gradually, I didn’t have too much experience with blogging or web design so I had to self-teach everything and came up with my logo idea myself, realizing that if I want my readers to take my blog seriously I really needed to make it look professional.

My question is how soon do you need to create a logo? Straight off the bat? Or is it ok to leave it until you think that blog might be a success and then really invest some money in developing the logo and the theme etc..

I agree with those tips. I was using a free wordpress template but made my own custom theme because I felt it was more of a branding issue. People would know I was serious about blogging about my niche.

I hope my readers will grow with my blog and see the success in the future.

With Google testing favicon in search results you may want get creative with favicon and the logo. :)

Thank You. Your article motivated me to at least change out my header, while I am working on my logo. I put a slightly modified stock image in as a place holder. At least it’s cute and better than the stark blue background I had. Now to get to work on the logo :)

@Annaleen: I see the written content as being the most important part of the blog and the website as well, but as the blog develops and you’ve got a constant following, you may monetize by implementing new side-projects (clothes, ebooks, training sessions, etc) that are relevant to your actual blog. This is a good idea for blogs that are past the beginning stage, however. Not too good of an idea to invest time and money into products that you may not have buyers for due to lack of traffic. Hope that helps.
