  • I have never made a guest post on any blog. But it is my dream to be able to do a guest post In Problogger one day.

  • No never… maybe one day I’ll think up of something! :)

  • Yes I have guest blogged on several occasions and in one instance was the main writer on someone else’s blog.

In the blog’s that kept there end of the bargain it was fine but many blog owners seem to feel that once you start writing they can just drop the ball.

I offer my guest bloggers link backs, recognition, credit in the by: column and even a personal page can be put together on 1461Days.

In fact, I am currently looking for more guest bloggers. Have a look and let me know what you think!

  • Just like #

Puspanjali said, I was dreaming to be able to do a guest post in your blog some day, haha, I know that is not possible, I could dream, right?

  • Right after my guest post was published the blog’s owner decided she was too stressed out by the process of managing her blog, so she pulled the plug. Think my post was live for one day.

Like to think I didn’t send her over the edge personally!

I am always looking for guest posters for my blogs, by the way.

  • I have guest blogged, and its good when you see yourself on other blogs and people commenting on your posts there, sharing their views about the post etc.
It is beneficial in a lot of ways :)

  • I am waiting to see the results.
What is the measure to know if another blog will draw traffic to your blog? Page Rank, RSS readers, …

  • It was the best thing that could have happened to my young blog. It opened doors that otherwise may have taken months to open and it gave me the courage to approach even the “big boy blogs”.

Guest blogging has been very successful for me and I’ve built some wonderful relationships.

    Cheers

    George

  • I did a guest post in December, and it wasn’t my intention to promote my own blog with this, more that I wanted to contribute to the topic being discussed. But it did give my own blog a lot more attention over that period. I’d do it again in other situations if the chance arose – it was an interesting experience.

  • Yes, I wrote a tutorial on how to style authors comments in Wordpress, so you could easily distinct them from guest comments. I really like that concept actually, and I hope that I’ll have more guest posts in my blogging carrier :)

  • Not yet, but I’d like to. There have been about 6 guest posts on ATMac so far and there’s several queued up to be posted soon. I’d love more but Apple-related assistive technology is such a small niche it’s difficult to find people.

  • I did a guest post on another blog for the same general interest group (vegan cuisine). I first connected with the person on Twitter, and after some time, he asked me I wanted to guest post on his blog because he really liked my recipes. In exchange I let him guest post on mine as well. It was definitely a good experience.

  • I’ve not only guest posted, I’ve actually done “blog-sitting” where I posted to someone else’s blog, moderated comments, etc., while they were unable to (due to a Hurricane in their area).

It was a great experience and I learned a lot from “running” someone else’s blog for four days.

  • I’ve never guest posted on someone else’s blog, to be honest I think I’d do terrible job at it.

  • Not yet though I am always trying to find ways to go about it. I have someone writing a guest post for my blog though.

  • I have guest blogged only 1-2 times..And yes I m also inviting bloggers to guest blog on my blog..

    here it is:
    http://www.smartbloggerz.com/2009/01/join-smart-bloggerz-smart-authors.html

  • I did a couple of guest posts on http://www.identityresolutiondaily.com, and found it to be a very positive experience.

Infoglide, a software company which operates that blog, made it very easy to work with them. They just gave me a clean sheet of paper to write about whatever I liked, and they have been very supportive of my blog.

  • Yes, I’ve recently had two guest posts published and both have brought great traffic to my site. I hope to do more, and would love someone to write a guest post on my blog.

  • Does it count when it’s my wife’s blog?

  • I have never posted on someone else’s blog, but I would like to. I’m just not sure of what would be a good idea.
Anyone looking for a guest post can take a look at my site and see if they have an idea where my style would fit with their content.

  • I actually started blogging as a guest poster on http://thenextstage.wordpress.com. It was good, because it gave me the opportunity to get my feet wet without the full-on commitment. After doing monthly guest-posts for almost a year, I started my own blog, http://artofthebiz.com. It was great, because I had a series of posts to start my blog out with.
I continue to do guest posts for other blogs, but I haven’t had anyone guest post for me, yet. Hey—

  • No, I haven’t tried yet:)

  • HA!! I’ve guest posted for YOU Darren:) You are the only one I’ve ever guest posted for.

  • I haven’t try yet. But I am planning to share my experience once my new blog gets older.

  • No; I haven’t – I still consider myself a blogging virgin.

  • I voted “no” but it should be counted as a “not yet.” I want to but I am not sure exactly how to go about getting a guest post gig. I’ve been attempting to contact other bloggers but to little success.

  • I have trouble finding people in my niche that are up to date enough on blogging and the Internet to actually know what a guest post is and accept it as part of their site. Has anyone else had this problem? I talk about long distance bike travel on my site, so the niche is small, but maybe I should contribute to travel and lifestyle design blogs as that is a lot of what I talk about. Hmm…

  • I haven’t as of yet–but I’m hoping to someday!

  • I did two guest posts at Problogger:
    http://www.problogger.net/archives/2008/12/15/create-a-media-kit-to-attract-advertisers-to-your-blog/
    http://www.problogger.net/archives/2008/12/29/get-inspiration-from-blog-comments-when-writing-your-next-post/
And I did case study research on my traffic and rss afterwards at:
    http://www.howtomakemyblog.com/guest-blogging/case-study-problogger-guest-post-effect-on-my-traffic/

  • I did a guest post for Scribbit recently – I answered her invitation to write about things to do in my local area. It was fun. She was really great to work with. It helped me to focus in on planning my writing. It also helped me to clarify what I really enjoy blogging about; I wrote a landing post for people coming over and I had to summarize what I’m doing.

I found it a bit tricky to balance my time and energy so that I could both write the guest post and keep my own articles up to scratch. For that reason I’m not sure I’d want to do more than one a month unless I have people doing some writing for me to save me some time and energy on my own blog.

  • Yes, some of the software projects I support have group blogs that I’ve posted to.

  • I’m amazed it’s practically a 50:50 split. I suspect we’re seeing such a ratio as the readership of this site is ‘less amateur’. I’d expect a ratio across ‘all bloggers’ to be something more like 1:1000.

  • Technically not yet. I was asked to write something for a blog because he liked my comment on a guest post he did. I happened to be writing a post for my site that would work for his, so it was easy to make a couple of changes and send it too him. But it has not ran yet, which makes it hard to get my schedule set because I have a follow up to it for my site. Instead of being a week ahead on writing, I am suddenly scrambling to write stuff for this week.

But I don’t really mind, I hope to pick up some regular readers for my site. And even if I don’t, it will get my stuff out there more.

  • I would guest post for someone if they asked me to.

  • I answered “Yes” on a technicality. The ONLY place I have only guest-posted is here and that was only because you asked to turn a comment I had made into a post (it was the “linkers-anonymous” post from 2006).

I’m not flatly opposed to the concept but generally if I have an idea I’d rather post it on my blog(s). If someone I respect specifically asked that I write about something for them I’d probably do it, but I don’t go seeking that out.

I *do* get a good number of guest posts at my blog. I’m pretty open to content and writing style – if it can possibly fit and isn’t impossible to read I’ll take it – so that probably helps. It also helps that when someone makes an interesting comment or sends a long email, I often gently suggest that I might turn that into a guest post if it’s appropriate.

  • I guest posted on a blog called Problogger, and I found the experience just charming! :)

  • I’ve done several. I had one on ProBlogger, one on Blogsolid, one on Blogging Tips, and probably a few others. I also wrote one for NETTUTS, which should go up sometime in a few days.

  • i want to but i didn’t get chance.

  • Yes! It’s one of the best ways to promote your own writing and your own blog. You get a static backlink on another blog. It raises your Technoriti authority and you get new readers that may suggest you to other readers and may eventually ask you to guest post on their blog as well.

  • Yes, recently guest posted on Geek Estates a website tracking the intersection between real estate and technology verticals. We are based in Central America so the post was about ‘what we and others in the international real estate field have learned from the US real estate world.’ We got a traffic boost but most important have started to build name recognition for what we are doing among some of the movers and shakers in the real estate 2.0 field.

  • No I haven’t, though I’ve written a blog post in answer to another blog’s questions if that counts.

  • I have posted guest blogs a few time. I think it is a good idea to generate new and fresh content. If anyone is interested to post a guest blog with their link can contact me at:

    http://earnextrarupees.com

  • I’ve never written a guest post not have I had one appear on my blog. I’d welcome the opportunity though. I write a daily, independent design blog with an emphasis on kitchen renovations. Anyone? Anyone?

  • I voted no, but only out of lack of opportunity/time.
    Interviews, I’ve done many.. quotes, re-posts etc…

But no, not actually ever guest posted – I think it’s something I might do in the near future mind…

  • Never done one but would eventually like to.

  • I’ve not guest posted… yet! But I hope to and to fully reciprocate it too.

I think guest posts are a brilliant way of showing your audience that you want to offer them more than one point of view, and it shows them that you want them to engage not just with you, but the actual subject of your blog.

  • I haven’t. Mostly because I don’t know of a blog with an appropriate audience. The overwhelming majority of blogs in my niche are personal blogs that aren’t suitable for guest posts.

  • I have guest posted and enjoyed the experience more for helping out and networking rather than traffic. I very much enjoy others coming to guest post on my blogs because it frees me up from doing another post, plus I get to practice my editing skills a bit. (Most have been excellent writers, so I’ve hardly had to edit a thing.)

Either way it’s a win-win situation and all about helping others.

  • I’ve done a number of guest posts, and have had a blast with it. It’s a great way, as has been said, to generate static links and traffic, as well as to write for a different audience and a different pair of eyes in the blog owner. It’s easy to get too far into our own heads, styles and niches, and guest posting is a great way to break that, improve as a writer, and grow your own site at the same time.

  • Yes I have…and it was an incredible experience. I provided unique content for another blog in the industry and as a result…

    - I gained another contact/friend.
    - More subscribers to my blog.
    - More subscribers to my newsletter.

It takes a little bit of time to draft up original content for someone else’s blog…but it is worth it in the long run. It also increases your spread on the web…not a bad thing at all. Win/win for both parties in my opinion.

  • I’ve done a few blog posts for others and gotten a decent spike in traffic related to my niche. Anymore I don’t have time to do my own posts let alone writing for others. Wish I did always found it to be an enjoyable experience.

  • I’ve done a few on blogs with over 1000 subscribers but didn’t really see that much traffic from them.

  • I have never made any guest post. Maybe after 2 years.

    http://pinoyingermany.blogspot.com/

  • I’m too busy posting on my own blog to post on anyone else’s!

People have asked to post on my blog, but I want to keep it as just my voice.

  • I’ve guest posted on the guitar site Jemsite, and I’ve had one guest poster on my blog so far. I plan to invite other bloggers to post more regularly.

    My blog: http://iheartguitar.blogspot.com
    My guest post: http://www.jemsite.com/blog/43-general/766-ibanez-geek.html

  • I have twice, both times were on personal blogs. That is my niche. I have also let other people guest blog for me. If I had anything worthwhile to add, I’d pitch it to you Darren. *wink*

  • I’ve done a guest post on a friend’s blog. If I were to do it again, I would make sure that my name appear at the top instead of the bottom of the post, though, because several less-attentive people didn’t recognize it as a guest post.

  • The primary i have not guest posted yet, is because i have really not considered it to some extent. I would like to guest post but it is just finding the right blog or blogs that it would be a mutually beneficial thing.

  • I love guest posting for others, because I feel it is a great way to not only broaden my readership, but also to meet people in other or related niches that I might not know yet.

It’s great to have others guest post too, because it brings fresh voice and perspective.

  • It’s always an honor to be invited to post or host an event on someone else’s blog. I’ve done both, and found it to be a good experience. I’ve made a lot of new friends that way!
I’m always aware of the need to pick quality content for my own blogs, but even more aware of making sure what I post to someone elses is of high quality.

  • Haven’t guest posted in the traditional sense… have had my posts posted on other blogs without my permission ;)

  • I haven’t guest posted on a blog, but the closest thing I’ve done as quest posting is providing articles for an independent online gaming magazine/journal. A guy emailed me inviting me to join the website to post my original articles on gaming, and the experience as been great!

As for posting on an actual blog, I have yet to have that honor.

  • I never guest post at other blogs. But after read your post yesterday, I wonder and wanna try this whether it’s work or not

  • I tried once before and got rejected!!, now that’s either saying my post sucked, or it was just too good to allow on that site for fear of losing all their traffic?, but ill just stick with the first option;)

  • I’ve never guest posted but would really like to.

Is it etiquette to wait to be asked?

  • I’ve never guest blogged, especially since I haven’t written on my own blog since Jan. 6 I’d sure be interested in anyone writing a guest blog for me. I’m open on anything to do with the independent music industry that helps the indies manage and promote themselves.

  • I’ve guest posted a couple of times, but am not sure about any immediate benefits. Would love to see what you are coming up with the results here.

  • Nope. Nada.

    http://www.rhinothecat.com

  • I’ve had great experiences guest blogging. I feel like it’s such a win-win… I get exposure; the host get’s a day off. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

  • I have done couple of guest post only. But in my blog I open up for guest post weekly and got a good response.

I am just wondering is there can be any negative impact on a blog from guest posts. I know need to select the guest post carefully.

Other than that I find it quite interesting and useful and build a small community who has similar ideas and interests.

    Thanks
    Sjay

  • I have never made a guest post on any blog yet, actually I have a question about guest post. Let say I write an article, so I can only post on other’s blog and consider as guest post, so can I post the same article on my blog as well?

    Regards,
    Lee

  • I have guest posted on blogs before and I like to actually give the blogger a voice in what topic they’d like to see from me. They can be specific or very vague and then I take it from there. I read their blog archives a few months and pick up their audience from the comments so that my post fits into theirs.

It’s been a great experience and one that I hope will continue through the life of my blogging.

  • I haven’t yet, but I would love to because spreading awareness of my daughter’s disease is so important to me — networking is so important, and there may be someone on another site who reads that may know another person with her disease or knows someone who can help.

  • I’ve done it quite a few times, each time with the intent of being as selfless as possible and linking out to as many other bloggers as possible so that the place I was guest posting at would get a lot more attention. It did work, and worked well: at one place I was posting these commentaries on other people’s blog entries, being very complimentary and doing my best to tease out larger questions.

I will say this: none of the places I guest posted at ever really won me readers. It was a great experience, but those blogs were too small. So.

  • I have never offered guest posts, because at the moment I am committed to promoting my blog and want to have a few more eyes on it, before announcing something big as guest posts. Having guest posts on a blog without any viewers is sort of meaningless.

  • I had posted just once on a Blog I read quite regularly. The experience was awesome , since that particular blog had a good following and a lot more people appreciated the post than I would I have got, had I written the same article on my own blog.

  • I haven’t guest posted ever, but then I wasn’t taking blogging seriously till a few months back. I’m currently on the lookout for blogs where I can guest post, and also looking to get the design of my blog finalised … finally.

  • I’ve struggled getting guest posts for my travel and tourism blog, I guess its because its South African based and not many people are aware of the local industry. However I do believe the trends within the industry also applies to other countries. Would be very much interested on travel technology bloggers since that is very much an untapped topic here in South Africa.

  • This is the second month I have my blog and I didn’t had the chance to guest post on any other blog, but I would love to do it someday.

  • I really interested in be part of guest blogging scene but I still couldn’t find any chance to be part of it.

I really love to be a guest blogger in others blog. Can I be guest blogger of your blogs? I really hope that I can be one (n_n)

p/s : Anyone want to be my blog’s guest blogger?

  • Yes, I’ve had the opportunity to write a few guest blog posts for other blogs. I love doing this. First of all, it’s an honor to be asked. And I always add new readers to my blog when they link back to me. It’s a win/win for all.

I’ve made so many new blogging friends. I’m so thankful to be a part of this bloggy world.

  • I was asked to write my first guest post recently, but the blog owner hasn’t posted it yet. Hopefully I will see some of the aforementioned benefits when it launches.

    T

  • I am planning on guest posting on other people’s blogs I just have yet to get round to writing an article specifically for another persons blog. I tend to see many people these days posting on other peoples blogs as its a good way of marketing your own blog however I am still yet to try it out.

  • It is not really guest posting, but I write a regular featured article for a website about restuarants and dining out.
    http://mydiningspot.com/dallasftworth/news/Nonna-s-in-DFW-by-Clara-Mathews.html

I would love to be a guest blogger on someone’s blog.

  • Yup. This one in fact. :-)

  • No, I not guest blogged, but I have offered to two people for them to be guest blogger on my blog. Neither one of them has taken me up on the offer yet.

  • I have used guest posting to get my blog noticed among ‘regular readers’ or some blogs. BTW, just one blog post never cut the deal, I had to make multiple interesting posts to get some followers from those blogs.

  • Yes, I have guest posted a few times. Currently I am also “blogsitting” for someone who is in the middle of a move. So far, it has been about a 6 week “engagement”. Looks like another week or two before the gig is over. I’ve enjoyed it and introduced that blog’s audience to a few things they may have never discovered.

  • I guest posted on a few of blogs but none of postings brought any significant traffic. That’s probably because blogs I posted on weren’t very popular.

This is by the way the topis I’d like to see covered on ProBlogger. Whether it is worth to publish your guest postings on blogs which are (probably) less or similarly popular to yours.

  • I do guest posting quite a lot and it helps to boost my own status as well

  • I have to add, since I commented yesterday on this post about posting, I have been asked to guest post – yee haw –

All those years of accumulating content may be of use after all – http://www.singlerose.com

Darren – you are a distraction! jk – I’ve got an empire to build (or sell). LOL – I can’t be reading posts about posting all day long…. lmao

  • I have done 2 guest post and there’s a third one planned. I enjoyed the experience. It enabled me to speak with a voice that’s a little different than my regular blogging voice. And it’s a great marketing tool.

  • I owuld love to know how you actually integrated your poll into the message body in such a way that once I’ve voted I can see the results here and also comment?

I want one of those! How do I do it????

To the question itself – I would love to guest-blog – just finished writing two articles that I will be suggesting for discussion to others … Wish me luck!:-)

  • Not yet, but that is one of my goals for this year. So far, I haven’t been asked to.

  • Yes, I did once in my friend’s blog. A contribution in her in endeavor of gathering inspiring stories and publishing them in a book.

Although it’s just personal (and not sharing of technical knowledge), it still feel good that somebody would want to post your article on their blog.

  • We just recently did a guest post on The Urban Muse, which is posting in a week or so. It was a fantastic experience, and I really enjoyed collaborating with other bloggers.

  • I just did a guest post on Caroline Middlebrook’s blog and it was a great experience, I really enjoyed it and got a lot of positive responses from her readers as well as lots of traffic and new subscribers at my blog.

  • I haven’t guest posted yet, but I’ve had a few offers. The offers are still there, so I better get on it, lest they get rescinded. I do realize it is not proper to make a blog owner wait, and that it is me who would be wasting the opportunity…

  • I’ve actually guest posted on this blog and it was a blast. Nice traffic bump too!

  • I would like guest bloggers as well as to be a guest blogger but I’m just joining the “full time blog” community regularly so don’t know many of you yet.

My blog is on microstock and stock photography and my writing topics could include photography, business, marketing, image, commercial photography, or anything of that vein.

  • Not till today.

  • I guess posted once but got tricked. They didn’t linkback and just used it. I just got merged in as one of their contributors.

  • Yes, I just did a series of 3 guest posts for someone, all of which just went up in the last 2 weeks.

I have another post I am about to start for a different blog this week.

  • No I have not guest posted on someone else’s blog nor have I been approached by anyone wanting to guest post on my blog either. I guess it’s something to think about however.

  • i have did not really see no big gain from or i could be wrong

  • i have did not really see no big gain from it or i could be wrong

  • I’ve been invited a few times. I submitted just one a few days ago because I could write one related to the requester’s niche blog but still there’s no guarantee he’d publish it. I did however, told him I’d appreciate if he changes his mind because I have another blog I can submit my post to! lol

I don’t know about the existing guest-bloggers but I feel that if I guest-blog for you, only YOU should have that blog post. A little like a gift but I am still taking credits for the post.

Guest-bloggers do not have contracts of any kind. Pliagarism is the worse kind any blogger has to deal with, apart from bad publicity on another blogger’s blog and spam, or writers’ block

  • I have never made a guest post but i’m looking forward to do some. I think it’s a good way to get some reputation on the niche.

  • Yes i have but only if the content are good,

Btw Darren, you seemed to have a problem with your database, why don you upgrade your hosting or remove some of your old blog post, cause i think Problogger is getting heavy to load and have much problem,

    - My 2 cents

  • I have guest posted on a couple of other blogs upon request. I’ve never approached anyone about writing a guest post and so far I’ve turned down any offers to guest post on my blog because they haven’t been a good fit with my subject matter/audience (someone wanted to guest post about a Christian single’s Web site….ummm….I write an atheist parenting blog).

  • If you have trouble keeping up the content on your own blog…I think I have too many blogs but I like the varied topics quite a bit.

  • @Annie @ PhD in Parenting I can actually see some of your articles on a friend’s website (a couple). They distribute toddlers’ care ebook and have good advise in their blog. Find them here:—> http://www.twitter.com/dominiquegoh

I am currently exploring and considering a few requests of guest-posts. But like Annie, I can only guest-post on subjects I am familiar with. I don’t like giving crap content.

And of course, I am learning A LOT from the interactions here! Thanks to Darren!

  • I just started a “new blogs” website to help people with new blogs, market and promote to readers. This is a valuable resource to new blogs, because having other sites link to you is important for SEO, plus, it shows your blog off to thousands of bloggers looking to network with people like yourself and exchange links. It also showcases your blogs to readers, specifically looking for new and interesting blogs to read. To get added, visit http://newestblogs.wordpress.com/, review the submission guidelines, and email me :)

  • I’ve guest posted on another blog and found it a really good experience. It brought a lot of visitors to my blog and was a nice cross-connection to make. I was approached directly by a blogger and it was a compliment to be asked. I was also asked to do further collaboration which due to time constraints I had to turn down – however it shows that there can be a snowball effect.
Both of my blogs are very much ‘my own’ so I’m not looking for guest posters but I would like to think I can guest post for others more in the future.

  • I would love to guest post or have someone guest post for my site but I have no idea really how to approach it? What are the expectations from either side.
