Well I have found the SEO tittle tag plugin very ineresting, maybe I should try it.
Also the last question, about should we nofollow RSS Feed was useful. I always thought I should add nofollow to RSS, never thought about blog search.
One more thing, do anyone get high SE rankings on category pages?
I always link to them within posts mostly for visitor navigation because I have a news site so it’s very useful – but Google barely indexes it….?

Thanks for posting this. The video is definitely a great primer to SEO. Although I am familiar with most of the material covered on the video, I do find that this is beneficial to SEO newbies.

I think the best thing I took away from it was the idea of making sure your internal linking is within context. “More” could be “read the rest of “Title.”
Likewise, inter-blog linking shouldn’t be using links that say “link” and “read here” – but rather words that are relative to the page they’re linking from and following through to.

I’ve recently undertaken an internship as an in-house SEO at an extreme sports company – with this being my first real introduction to the world of SEO.
Over the last few months I have worked alongside John O’Nolan – http://www.eggrage.co.uk./ – who has taught me the basics of SEO techniques. I am finding it very interesting and am eager to learn new techniques, this video clarified a few points for me, however there are still one or two points that im still fuzzy about – but not for much longer!

Plugin To Improve Blog SEO

Wordpress is very off page friendly with the comment system and trackback…but the on page optimization is worst!
Fortunately there are many plugins that will improve Wordpress problems:
1. Title
2. Permalink
3. Category & Archieve
4. Tag
I heard there is a new plugin call PlatinumSEO can replace AllinOneSEO.

Some useful tips in there. I’ve already changed my category pages to include a meaningful category description – it’s only one basic line of PHP in the code, a bit more if you want to be fancy.
The problem I have is that I started a number of my blogs when it was very common to use the /year/month/day/post-title format, which potentially is adding a lot of bulk to URLs. I need to figure out the rewrite rules (not complicated, I’m sure) to redirect all that down to a simpler format. Also will check out the Title plugins.

Great video.
One of the things that confuses me is the use of both Categories and Tags (and even “conjunction tags”) recommended here by Stephan. Isn’t this generating a lot of duplicate content? I know I had watched an SEOMoz whiteboard friday video where they chastised people who put the same post in multiple categories, because it resulted in duplicate content and a less optimized site tree. I assumed they were also against tags.
I have always skipped tags for this very reason. What is the SEO value added from having a page with a tag as the title and a collection of articles that can all be found under category pages that have a more focused introduction?
Is it SEO best practices to use categories and tags? One over the other?
This has always confused me :) Thanks!

Okay, I just can’t stay away – I need to ask another question :)
Stephan talks about optimized RSS feeds, particularly about steering clear from services like Feedburner so that you can host the feed on your own blog.
Unless there is some way to get all the benefits of those services… like measuring subscribers, tracking clicks, adding viral pass-along links, etc… that seems like taking SEO too far (to the point of severely hurting usability and the added-value of your feed). Certainly, I can’t think of a blog I subscribe to that still hosts their own feeds.
What’s your guys’ take on this?

I don’t get the whole Nofollow thing – I mean, people want others to comment on their blog, giving them content, but they’re not prepared to give the commenter something in return. Seems a bit selfish to me

That was an interesting video. It would give me further knowledge about the field I am in right now. And I believe it would greatly help people especially newbies who want to learn SEO.
