@ashok Interesting comment. I'm personally not inclined to change the style of my blog titles radically for the sake of a prize - although it is indeed a very attractive prize! I knew of the contest but wasn't planning to enter. Then I mentioned the title of my post to someone else, who said I should submit it. The process has helped me to a) put some more creativity into my titles and b) be more attentive to making my posts more "reader-friendly".

Yeah, I don't know how good the titles were. Some of them followed the rules, but others felt like titles I would normally see. I submitted something that was a title one would normally see on my blog.

I'm actually not saying this to put anyone down. I think there's an unnatural priority on titles - yes, search engines and people both use them to screen content. But if I titled every post as if the world were going to end if my blog weren't read, I wouldn't be much of a writer or a personality.

In other words: going crazy with titles is fine for an exercise in blogging better, but not for creating a blog where people want to be a part of your community and get to know you.

That having been said, we need more of these contests generally so we can meet other bloggers and network. Given how awful social bookmarking is for much of the content we produce - esp. the unique content - all of us bloggers need as many excuses as possible to find each other and network.

I am just now reading through some of these titles and they are certainly eye catching. I guess it pays to read problogger because my article is in the top of the list. :-)

Thanks for doing this contest Darren and getting us all some more exposure.

Thanks Darren. I love this idea and, as always, I'm very appreciative that you give us all such opportunities to learn, interact and grow our own blogs.

I look forward to checking out more and more of the blogs/bloggers participating in this project.

I lolled reading those headlines. Some bloggers were creative in creating funny and catching titles...
It will take some time to read all those articles...

Good work everyone. Hope the next submissions will be as good as these...
