Andy Merrett and Ultimate Blogging Experiment – yes you’re right, definitely didn’t mean for that to become a blanket statement for all tech blogs – was thinking mainly of engadget and gizmodo

Infonote – it’s one of those things that I guess a blogger needs to toss up. For me I produce 20-30 text based posts for every video/audio one so figure that it’s less important for me to make a transcript of them. If I had the time or resources I’d probably do it but unfortunately I don’t.

Hi Darren,

I know podcast and videocasta are great but providing a transcript is the best IMHO.

OffTopic Questions:

1) In Twitter how do I respond to a Tweet e.g. you write something in Twitter and I want to reply.
2) They should invent a transcript software for webcasts and podcasts.

I also have to disagree that technology blogs are all about two paragraph 10 minute posts. there are some like this but not all of them. I’m not going to advertise my technology blog on here that has 20,000 subscribers because who wants to be put in this category. there are many technology blogs that go in great detail about things and those are the blogs that end up on web sites like the Digg.

Great interview.
Lots of excellent points. My keeper is:
“Be an innovator – create your own new thing and not another me-too”.

And, I agree with the idea that luck needs to be facilitated. Being in the right place at the right time is only possible if you go places and do things. Duplicating what others have already done is never going to lead to that.

I have to disagree that tech blogs are all about the two-paragraph ten minute post. Some technology blogs have a mixture of posts, and include some articles that do require a lot of research.

I’m sure you didn’t mean it to be a blanket statement, but as I currently work on three tech-related blogs, I thought I’d raise the point. :)

I really enjoyed this interview Darren. Listening to a voice really ads to a blog Darren. I’ve been running those podcasts that I won from your site, by First Blog Media, in my sidebar, and I think the readers are enjoying it.

Actually, I think I’ll do a poll or something to find out just how much enjoyment is coming out of it.

Perhaps you can get a resource post for us, where you list all the interviews you’ve done? Or an easy way to find them. =)
