Tips For Social Media Toddlers
I don’t do many guest posts on other people’s blogs these days but this week I was asked to do one that I couldn’t resist. Kristen from Social Media Mom asked me to write something on Social Media and being a Dad.
My first thought was that it was all too hard - but I decided to take the challenge and the post that emerged was one of the favorite things I’ve written of late. It’s called:
4 Tips for Social Media Toddlers
The post takes a look at 4 lessons that I’ve learned from my son (that’s he and I pictured left) and what they teach me about social media (Twitter particularly). I hope you enjoy it!

That was a really great read, Darren. It was heartwarming to learn how you are able to equate our learning process as social media users with the experiences of your adorable son! And so true too :)
Thanks for offering an insight about your experiences as a dad. It’s good to be reminded that we may be parents as well as bloggers!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about being a mom of 4, it’s that you can apply just about anything you teach them (or what them discover) to your own work passion. I especially resonated with:
>> So many of us as Social Media Toddlers seem to get bogged down by the way things should be done or by being concerned of how others will receive us - but perhaps we need to approach it with a little more with childlike abandonment. <<
How very very true. Giving myself permission to be me (which includes a huge heap of zaniness) is what really helped me bring my blogging up to an entirely new level.
Enjoy,
Barbara

Great post, as a mother of 5 I can relate so well, with all the obsession when you learn something new and doing it over and over again.

Darren~ Thank you for being so candid and honest in your post. It is so great to see a dad that is not all about the business but also all about his family and you have for sure managed to balance the two beautifully.

I loved this article - it’s fun to see the dad side of you. I bet you have a lot of parent readers who appreciated this piece, too.
