Lots of nice new features, but the core, the Write screen, is now broken in my opinion. It’s painful to use and actually worse than the previous version. I believe it was a mistake to move so much stuff from the sidebar; what was previously a streamlined workflow is now disjointed.

The new widgets screen is a usability nightmare too. No drag and drop to and from the sidebars anymore. What took a couple of actions previously now takes up to 11 clicks.

Apparently, the very respected agency Happy Cog did the IA work on this, and they are experts on user interface design and usability, so I’m a bit bemused about these newly introduced usability problems.

I’ve been trying to get some feedback on the changes, but so far no luck.

I’m staying away from 2.5 and will wait to see what happens with the incremental updates.

Upgraded and all my tags were gone since I was using Ultimate Tag Warrior. Thankfully, 2.5 has an import feature which enabled me to recover all my tag pages! Phew!

Well done to the Wordpress team for another great upgrade!

I love the cleaner / simpler interface!

Is it just me or have they missed a default image uploader?

Hey Darren, There is a plugin which automatically upgrades your blog. It's a great time saver and it works great. Check out the shortcut for upgrading to WordPress 2.5 Use it and you are on the latest version in no time. :)

I love the pretty new dashboard. Also the “edit timestamp” nonsense was improved upon. Definitely less ugly, IMO.

I upgraded from the legacy version to 2.5 last night on my testing server and with very minimal effort had everything working perfectly. I love the new admin but it looks like some of my plugins will need some updating / switching.

Overall though, really happy with the long awaited 2.5.

Sounds like a sweet upgrade, but like most things I’m naturally slow to move on new releases until all the bugs are worked out. I’ll monitor the comments here to see what everyone reports – looks good so far.

I guess I’m the only one who hates 2.5. The dashboard change is very minor and the Write screen is actually uglier and harder to navigate. Changing timestamp now requires extra work and the page goes on endlessly with categories requiring a scroll. Not a revolutionary upgrade at all. It’s LESS intuitive and uglier.

I went back to 2.3.

I’ve just switched from 2.3 to 2.5 and I must say I like it. The jump to 2.5 was fast and troubleless – thanks to all wordpress developers for making the transfer so easy… :)

I upgraded mine a few hours ago with Wordpress Auto Upgrade, and the upgrade went well and all my plugins still work. It’ll take some time though to get used to the new admin interface.

Upgraded without fail this morning, total time was 10 minutes and after copying the files up to the server i needed to only run the upgrade.php and we’re back in business.

Looking forward to using the new features of 2.5.

All I can say is the admin section is now slow, slow, slow. Every page takes three to four times longer to load.

I upgraded mine too just a couple of hours ago. It took me about 10 minutes to see where everything is at. What I don’t like is that the incoming links are from Google and not from technorati. I installed a plugin to switch to technorati but didn’t work. I will stick to google for now till I figure it out. Other than that, I like the new clean look. It was long over due!
