Niklas Kunkel (above) has a very good point.
When you take on any new procedure, you need to do it like it's natural. Doing something out of the box is a dangerous strategy that will land in the 'nobber' bin if you don't do it with style.

Showing your honest interest in other people is probably the safest and #1 rule.

Nice video though. I'm off the TheNextWeb in Amsterdam later this week and i'll definitely be thinking about my elevator pitch while i'm there.

I love the idea of the magnetic business card. My wedding photographer passed out about a dozen of those during our wedding, with our engagement photo on the front and his name, phone #, and Web site on the bottom right hand corner. We still have it to this day on our fridge, 5 years later.

He handed them out to close friends and family (they're not cheap, so I guess that's why he only had 10-12), and as far as I can tell, ALL of them still had them on their fridges to this day. Great way for people to remember you. Oh, and he was an awesome photog anyway; he gets tons of biz, but it was definitely a clever marketing tool that keeps him uppermost in our minds whenever any of us is asked for a wedding photog reference.

Salut,

I have a site http://www.chatadsense.com It's currently setup as a forum / message board. Should I change the site to a nice blog site like problogger.net or what should i do? It seems easier to have a blog site than a message board. If I do change it to a blog what are some sites I can go about doing this or a place I can download a blog script so I can install it. I'm trying to build a community for ppl to talk about adsense but the forum just isn't working. I think a blog like this might give me better results...e-mail me if you can help me..Thanks a bunch

Thanks for the kind words Darren. I knew my business card worked, but I never realized it made such an impression on you. Last minute brainstorms, FTW!

See you next year, I hope.

Great Tips Darren.

I personally agree strongly with:

1) Special Namecards - thou i have none of such yet
2) Good Elevator Speech - that has solution to problems

Will work on my Namecard asap. Thanks

Many people contain their advertising to online but the fact is advertising can be done anywhere. On tv, billboards, speaking about it. Offline advertising generally won't give you a huge increase in traffic but it will have an affect.

Darren, great stuff, I could not make this conference as I am in the middle of chemo for my Ovarian Cancer. This is my first good week since January 16th and I think I'm on a strong road to recovery. This grandma still has rock and roll in her blood. so thanks for the window into the conference. I hope when chemo finishes in July of this year...I'll be able to plan a conference and meet you. Meanwhile, I live vicariously through your experiences..

Thanks for the tips.

Hi Darren,

Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful information. I have to say that whenever I get an email that you've posted, I have to wait until I really have time to review it, rather than just skim it. You always have such a wealth of useful information and new bloggers like myself really benefit from it.

Thanks for what you do!
