What Topic Is Your Blog On [POLL]
What topic do you blog on?
This is the topic of this week’s poll. I’ve chosen a handful of categories that I think most will fit into but if there’s another one that I didn’t include click ‘other’ and add your topic to comments below. Here’s the poll:
What is the Topic of Your Blog?
Looking forward to seeing the results of this one.

Darren, what about those who run more than one blog?
Like in my case I blog on net business on the one I mention in the comment box here, as well as humour and insurance on two other blogs.. and all of’em are sort of flagship blogs.. rather than just some niche stuff..
so that would mean entertainment, internet and finance/investment for me.. I think perhaps adding “multiple topics” as an option would be good..

got more than one blog? just pick your favorite, or biggest…. whatever you like is cool - but I can’t tweak the poll to let you answer more than one.

I don’t run an adult blog, but I’m surprised you don’t have that niche listed, considering how many of them flood the internet.

You. Tell. Me.
I run a blog about making a webcomic (which most folk would likely consider a hobby) which inadvertantly includes promoting said webcomic, (so it becomes a metablog on business / marketing) … and I talk about my own comic (so it’s kinda personal in that regard, though still related to at least my own business).
And of course nobody ever has just plain ol’ “Comics” as a blog category, it seems. Oy.

March 14th, 2008 11:17 pm
I finally chose “hobbies” rather than “other” but even “hobbies” doesn’t fit all that well.
That’s what comes of not researching my niche and picking one with straightforward keywords! Then again, the site was around before the advice was (I think).
The Wildlife Porch is about, to some degree, bird watching, wildlife viewing, and container gardening - all of which could be considered hobbies. But, it’s also about chickadees and solitary bees and conservation.
Interesting idea for a poll, but the “other” category might be big…

Good question, but very hard to answer. Most topics cross a lot of lines. For instance, I talk about hybrid cars. So, I put it in technology, but it could just as easily been in news, political, other, health, etc… since I cover all those aspects of my ‘niche.’

LIFT Magazine (my site) is not your typical health site … LIFT is a web magazine for the adventurer in all of us (not necessarily the gym goer) — urban men and women who work hard and play harder.
My mission: To give a fresh perspective and strong voice to any product or person that brings exciting innovations to our lives and encourages us to get off our lazy asses and enjoy the luxuries that life has to offer.

Another demonstration of the nightmare that is taxonomy.

Yeah, very surprised that food isn’t on here. Food blogs are HUGE. There’s a whole subculture of them, along with Flickr.
My blog is a mixture of personal with entertainment and celebrity. I’m a pop culture junkie, but I also write about dating & sex. Not a porn blog, though… I can see why adult would be excluded, as such a huge portion of those are just affiliate marketing blogs.
I also keep a separate “tech-y” blog which is about blogging & social media, but not updated as frequently. Thinking of combining the two..

My blog is about both science and religion. The science is mostly biology and medicine, and the religion is Catholic. Science and my faith are my two passions, and I see them as united. My blog is a space where that voice can be heard in a world that often sees the two as opposed to each other.
I am also starting a much less serious blog, My Puzzle Fix (http://mypuzzlefix.blogspot.com/), which will feature a free daily puzzle or word game. Players can compete with each other for a spot in the rankings!

Hmmm. Hard to categorize. My personal blog has morphed into a “personal motivational” blog. My loyal readers come to get motivated to do one small thing each day that makes their personal/home life better. Organization, relationships, faith and fun stuff. I entertain with a “song of the day” that goes with my topic of the day.
I rarely just yak about my “day in the life” so I don’t consider it a personal blog.
I will choose “other” for the sake of your poll…am looking forward to the results. BTW, thanks for the great site. I look forward to Problogger in my inbox each day.

Don’t know if it has already been mentioned (I am feeling lazy and skimmed the other responses) but mine has been classified as a humour blog. Humour with a U cause I am an Aussie chick :)
I started off as a personal blog, and sometimes still delve into the serious, but the majority is just silliness and me ranting. Just went with what I was most comfortable doing and the posts that got the best reaction.

I describe my blog as “food porn for chocolate lovers”.
My blog is a photo blog of luscious chocolate concoctions, with a link to the recipes. A lot of fun, it’s amazing how many of us love drooling over the photos. :-)

Drishtikone - means perspective in Sanskrit. I write about my perspective on different stuff.. mostly spirituality, politics, current events and history - specifically with a South Asian twist.
So, do check it out…

I choose other though business may be a good choice. The reason I went with other though is that I tend to talk about the music business mainly Independants. Though I also talk about bringing fans into a more interactive relationship and thus see my blog more as a musician resource then business or marketing or anything else. Sometimes I think this is too broad and other times I think this is not broad enough but the niche is really small comparatively and most definately could use more bloggers with varied opinions.
