Has anyone seen a comprehensive list of verticals and inventory for the placement of these ads? I think I’ve seen a total of two sites ever that had them installed ever since the pilot program started.

This actually looks like it might be a step in the right direction. Personally I’m more inclined to watch a video ad than a regular ad, which hardly make you any money on low traffic.

“literally” means “actually; without exaggeration or inaccuracy”.

If you were “literally running out the door” then you’d have to be blogging mid-stride, preferably as you pass through the doorway. I doubt this is the case.

I’ve tried AdSense for video a while back, I guess I was one of the first to get it. Anyways, IMO it doesn’t look too great. Hopefully it changed since I checked it out last, I’ll have to have a look.

Quite true John. I think that people watching videos are in “entertainment” mode, not “click relevant links” mode, and so it would be very tough to get them to click the ads after they become familiar to them. This is similar to internet users’ blindness to ads.

However, because Youtube videos generate such a large amount of views, the revenue potential (in theory) is high.

As a Search Marketing Manager, I have serious reservations about how well the traffic these ads generate will convert. In other words, the ROI for the advertiser will probably be about the same or worse as it is from contextual text ads. And that’s not great.

Finally their doing something to make a serious use of YouTube. It would be very interesting to see how this thing goes.

I don’t think it will be a phenom like AdSense, but the revenue share must be bigger..
