Picture 6-6WordCamp Melbourne (17 November) is shaping up to be a pretty cool event. James just announced that there’s already a sponsor and that there’s a program shaping up with Alex Shiels from Automatic, Christine Davis, James Farmer, Alister Cameron and myself already confirmed.

It’s going to be a great afternoon – and there’s even door prizes! RSVP here.

  1. Am looking forward to it very much :)

  2. Thats great!

  3. I’m wondering though at what level of WP expertise (and blog monetization experience for that matter) the day is pitched for?

I wouldn’t want to go if I’d be the dunce in the class!

  4. It is for people who have an interest in WP – say who have been using / following / hacking it for some time or intend to do so in the near future.

But, having said that, there’ll be opportunities for people to talk about things that don’t involve php, plugins and so on… such as Darren’s presentation, so it’s your call really.

  5. Karen – all I can say is that I’m completely hopeless at anything on the back end of my blogs – and I’m running a session :-)

My session will be very nontechnical – I’m looking much more at principles that will be applicable to bloggers using all blog platforms.

Also – I think the real benefit of the day will be networking.

  6. Darren –

For those of us who can’t make it to Melbourne, do you know if the presentations will be broadcast online, or available for download at a later date?

    Best,
    Mark

  7. Mark – not sure if there’s any plan for that – it won’t be a massive gathering (probably 30-40 people) so am not sure there’s a budget for that type of thing unfortunately.

  8. Looks really Great, but it’s a far away from my country.. I’m looking forward the review :)

  9. I can always bring in my camera and do it manually, the sound and picture quality might not be great but at least it’s something.

  10. Darren –

Do you often have such meetings locally?

  11. Go for it “Funny exam answers”, I think that would be great.

  12. Cyan and I are going to be there! I’m going to book our flights today :-)

  13. I’m not a pro-blogger of any sorts, just interested to find out more about blogging professionally. Do you think this will be suitable for me?

I’m not completely clueless with wordpress, blogging and all, but I don’t want to be the only one in there with like… $0 income on my blog. Wordcamp.org doesn’t say much about the event so hopefully someone can shed me some light.

    Thanks!

  14. Collis – that’s great news – was going to email you to see if you could make it. You guys should run a session!

Alt-J – I think this will be fine for you. The sessions are not all on making money from blogging by any means – it’s going to cover quite a few areas and I’m sure there will be people of all levels there (I certainly hope so anyway).

  15. It’s really about what you can do with WordPress, the future of WordPress and WP related topics – Darren’s providing a great overall perspective – also as a long time WP user – to the problogging side of things. but I wouldn’t go if you’re not very experienced with WP and not really interested in working pretty extensively with it… it’s not a ‘blogging’ get together, it’s a ‘wordpress’ one :)

  16. Darren, tommorow Oct, 27, Indonesian blogger will celebrate the “Pesta Blogger Indonesia 2007” (Indonesia Blogger Party 2007). Its the first and biggest indonesia blogger gathering. More than 500 blogger will attend on this event.

I wonder you are the one of the keynote speaker :D

  17. Thats great. I’ve alredy signed up for the Buenos Aires WordCamp, Which is going to be october 31st, here in Argentina
