Call for Prizes – Do You Want some Publicity from ProBlogger?

PrizesDo you want a little publicity from ProBlogger to the wider ProBlogger reading community?

Later this month I’ll be celebrating the 3rd birthday of ProBlogger.net.

Rather than letting the date creep up on me and then wondering what to do to celebrate I thought I’d plan ahead this year and make it a fun day (or two… or three) by doing some giveaways for readers.

I’ll be coming up with a few prizes of my own to give to readers but would love to supplement them with some other prizes and gifts from sponsors interested in being a part of the festivities and getting themselves a little attention.

If you’d like to be a part of this by offering a prize (in return for a little publicity here at ProBlogger) please email me with the following information in the following way:

  1. email darren AT problogger DOT net (substitute AT and DOT with the appropriate @ and .)
  2. make the subject line ‘BIRTHDAY GIVEAWAY’
  3. describe the prize you would like to offer (what is it and what’s it’s value)
  4. include a link to the prize if you have one
  5. include your name and the link to the site you’d like me to link to in return for your prize

Please note: While I would like to include as many prizes as possible – if past experience is anything to go by I won’t be able to accept every offer of a prize.

Please also note that I have an international audience and prizes need to be able to be received by readers around the world so please factor in that you’ll need to pay for any shipping if it’s won by an international reader.

Prize submissions will be accepted until the end of the week (Friday).

Prize Suggestions: When I’ve run competitions previously at ProBlogger the prizes that have gotten the most positive feedback from readers have been cash (no surprises there), gadgets, vouchers and ‘fun stuff’. We’ve previously had holidays, computers, iPods, Nintendo Wii’s and even an eye massager.

While things like ‘hosting packages’, services and ‘ebooks’ might be relevant to bloggers – they don’t seem to get quite the attention. You’re more than welcome to submit these ideas as prizes – but I do get a lot of these offers and will only be able to use a few of them. The more fun and creative the better (plus it doesn’t hurt if it’s got some value).

What do you get in return?
I don’t want to give away what I’m doing completely yet – but you’ll be getting promotion in return for your prize on a number of pages/posts on ProBlogger. If past experience is an indicator – you’ll quite probably get linked to from other blogs also as these competitions cause quite a buzz. The better the prize the more attention you’ll get of course!

Looking forward to hear what you come up with.

  3. Lori says:

What a nifty way for an “unknown” blogger to get noticed! I’m sure your contest will be a great success. And good luck with getting prizes…not that you need it:)

  4. Looks like an excellent idea. I have sent in my prize offerings.

    Happy Anniversary, in advance!

  5. Deborah says:

I don’t have a prize yet, but I am going to get one.

  6. WarriorBlog says:

I will be looking forward to it. I have never participated in others blog contest before because fear of scam but I will definitely join your.

When you’re talking about a prizes, does it have to be tangible? Not like some info product or digital product.

    Darren !

    Great Idea Darren,

livvit.com is going to have to think of something worth contributing to the contest.

Or perhaps we’ll just try to win a couple. Bwahaha.

Great site by the way and thanks for all the tips.

  10. If I was an advertiser I’d jump at this chance. Great exposure for good value.

  11. doug m says:

congrats on the upcoming birthday of the site, without this site i wouldn’t have gotten into blogging

  12. Richard says:

wow, at least three links from ProBlogger that never disappear from the blog would be worth hundreds alone. Add to that the ‘buzz factor’ that a big giveaway can generate with incoming links to the pages that the links are on as well as others who link to the prizes too and this would be worth hundreds, if not thousands to participate in!

  13. Linsey Knerl says:

I have tons of baby gear to give away! Just submitted my prize and hope to get in! Sounds so fun…

  14. Dunia Fana says:

  21. Lulu says:

I thought of a prize and I would like to submit one on behalf of someone else’s blog as a gift. This is a great idea once again.

  22. Happy Anniversary!

What a great way to build (and strengthen) the relationship you have with your readers!

  23. I guarantee wallstreetfighter will have the most unusual prize

  24. I love this idea, and I’m writing about it in tomorrow’s ezine, “The Publicity Hound’s Tips of the Week.” I have 35,000+ readers, so I’m guessing you’ll be inundated with prizes from Publicity Hounds.

This sounds like a win-win for everybody.

  25. This sounds great! I’ve sent in my contribution. :)

  26. James Seay says:

What a great idea! I love the idea and positive “link love” it will generate. Thank you for being a leader in the blogosphere!

  27. Ken Y-N says:

Is there a minimum value for offerings? I could perhaps offer something that might be relatively rare outside Japan of high novelty value but of little actual monetary value…

  28. Griffin says:

I could perhaps offer something that might be relatively rare outside Japan of high novelty value but of little actual monetary value…

Ooh! That would be awesome! I think that depending on the item it could be worth a lot more Internationally than in Japan. I know here in America, people go absolutely nutty over Japanese toy imports. Including me, haha!

I’ll send you an email, Darren. :D

  29. Roy Osherove says:

Just make sure there’s an iPhone in the prize list somewhere…

    Roy.

I’ve heard about your blog before but this is my first time visiting…thanks to a link from eMoms at Home and 45n5. I just subscribed as well.

  34. Kamal says:

great idea…lemme google first for a prizyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
    :D

  35. darren, how do you do it again and again?!!!

you got us hooked, not even knowing…

whether we will get accepted with our prize,
if so, where we will get link love from problogger
and last but not least, how you will dsitribute our prizes!

with about 32, 000 problogger readers, i guess chances are really slim to get ‘approved’, especially when a blog is not supported by a big corporation with financial means to back the huge prize/gift.

i will try my luck in the hope that you will give the ‘little’ blogs a chance for the ‘gold nugget’ too. ok i am ready to submit my prize. sorry guys no free hawaii vacation. aloha, pua

  40. Hi Darren,
I am new to your blog and found it just in time. I was referred by the publicity hound’s site. I am excited to submit a prize to your site. Are you still receiving prizes? If so please let me know how to submit the prize for consideration. I think you might just like this prize.

  41. Congrats!! The last time I gave away a prize–it was me for the day! Organizing a frantic woman’s family for the day and it was a huge hit on a local TV show. I’ll have to come up with something else since it’s an international contest.

  42. Kabitzin says:

Happy Birthday to ProBlogger.net, and I can’t wait to see what you come up with for the contest!

  43. Aruni says:

Hello Darren – I submitted my gift idea a couple of days ago. I just wanted to make sure you got it and it didn’t go into spam or some other unknown place. :-)

    Thanks for the opportunity.
