Great tip, darren. Touchgraph has been around in one form or another for some time now, but often was too slow to be useful. The current version plus the interface with Google is gangbusters.

regarding the usefulness of the links … as has been pointed out this is not a direct map of your links, it is a map of what google thinks are related to your site. For SEO this can be way more important because the related sites determine who your “neighbors” are, Not necessarily who is giving you Page Rank. Like every tool, it’s just a tool and can’t provide all the answers … but what it provides is great.

Oh and type in your name and see who Google thinks is related … very useful for online reputation management as well.

Wow, this tool is awesome, and is similar to the previous picture that came into my head whenever I thought about linkbacks, how many my site is getting, which sites to get links from, etc.

Not entirely accurate there sorry Darren. It actually uses the Related Sites thing on the Google SERPs to generate it. It’s brilliant for link building, and for finding the big players in whatever circle it is that you’re in though, regardless. I’ve been using this for ages, as well as using the Websites as Graphs tool for analyzing how clean a sites code is – the cleaner it is, the smaller the graph will be.

hmm, this really brought to mind that i need to get working on getting some links to my site. Currently this tool did not pick up, which is probably pretty accurate since my site is new. This is a nice tool though, and should be useful in tracking my progress.

I REALLLLLY appreciated you previous recommendation on Crazy Egg, I have learned SO much with it.

I posted about my observations at the Food Blog S’cool, not my blog but the food blog special interest blog.

I think many people have found Crazy Egg interesting.

Now I am going to see what I can tease from the Google TouchGraph.
