ProBlogger NY Meetup – A Recap

Posted By Darren Rowse 11th of June 2007 ProBlogger Site News 0 Comments

539031065 Cfcd51A616This time last night the ProBlogger meetup was in full swing in an Upper West Side Bar here in New York.

The night was a great time of catching up with old friends, putting faces to names and meeting a few brand new people. The picture to the left is me with Shai Coggins (one of my partners at b5media – who I only met this week for the first time after being in business with her for over a year!) and Aaron Brazell (b5’s Tech Director).

Thanks to everyone who came along and made the night such a fun one. Thanks also to Chitika who were generous enough to buy everyone a drink or two and to Lara who helped in putting the night together for us.

I can’t link to everyone who attended but here are a few links to some pictures, posts and even a video of the night for those of you who couldn’t make it but wanted to be a part of the night by watching on:

I’m sure there’s more floating around – if you have photos or a post feel free to link up below.

  1. Thanks for putting it on! Ed and I had fun :)

  2. Thanks Darren, I had fun and it was great to meet you and other bloggers in person.

  3. So, is it a requirement for all the guys at b5 to shave their head?

  4. Jason – yes, and we’re working on making it a requirement for women too….

  5. Thanks Darren! It was very good.

  6. That would be something… bald women… the new supermodels.

  7. Thanks again Darren – I had a blast. There were so many great people there! My Recap

  8. It was great meeting you Darren! Thanks for a great event.

  9. I hope you feel better, Darren. It was really nice to meet Shai, and see Aaron and Lara again.

  10. I had a great time at the event, everyone was great. The free drinks were awesome. I’m glad everyone else enjoyed it and I can’t wait until there’s another one.

  11. Darren here’s a link to some more pictures Sharon sent me: http://entertainment.webshots.com/slideshow/559408888iwZXQQ

  12. Darren,

Was on the way when my friend’s car battery died :( Oh, well… It was great hearing you speak at FOOA (through a flu, no less!).

So, my friend with the newly-replaced battery–Amanda, whom I took to your last NYC event, only days after launching her blog about the random/hilarious things New Yorkers say when you’re wearing an over-sized Barack Obama button–has been blogging strong ever since. (We were bummed about missing the party, but she’s happy to have my notes from your speech. “Dating tips for bloggers and advertisers.” Love it!)

Funny, because while you were speaking, I was IMing her: “Hurry up and open an email account, so you can link it on the About page. Nobody can contact you!” The next day, she ended up in the NYTimes, so it’s amazing how even this basic advice is huge. What if someone who read the piece couldn’t get in touch? Another tragic situation avoided…

  13. It was definitely great meeting some of the Problogger readers (and of course, my fellow b5ers) in NYC. I’m in Toronto right now, and slowly trying to get in touch with some folks who said hello that night. It was good fun. Thanks!

Oh, and, if you managed to snag some b5 schwag that night, please feel free to either send me a photo (or a link to your blog post with your photo in b5 gear). I’d love to link up to you and share the love.

  14. P.S. –
@Darren: You are NOT getting my head shaved! :-p See if you can work on Darcie & CJ. ;-)

@Valeria: Had a great time meeting you too. Hopefully, I can get to chat with you more again soon. Thanks!

  15. Hey Darren, thanks again – I had so much fun with you in NYC! Meeting Chad and Shai was a bonus too – and of course, doing shots with Aaron as my “getting outta town” hurrah was just quite cool. LOL

I’ve finally finished resizing photos and writing up a brief recap: http://www.anubismarketing.com/company-news/fooa-2007-problogger-meetup-nyc/

It’s nice to see that everyone had such a great time – If blogging ever fails me I might just become a party planner! HAHA

  16. Thanks for inviting me Darren! I had a great time and glad you used the video footage I took….the Shuffle, T-shirt and Starbucks card plus the free drinks and food were the least of it.
