It does sound a bit like its being gamed, however i think they have fixed part of the issue with authority now, however i think faves still effect rank to some degree.. :)

Well, thanks for explaining what the Favorites are for. I did see the feature on the Technorati site, and also on some blogs. Visiting Technorati, I just realised I even faved my own blog – completely forgot about that, which probably says much about how little I understood the feature :-).
