I'll be taking the train down and back that night, and possibly bringing my dad, who I'm trying to get into blogging for profit as well. Personally - just knowing what NYC bars/venues are like, and what "meetups" are like, I wouldn't recommend bringing a laptop with you - not for any other reason than you likely won't have space or time. This is just a meetup, not a conference or anything like that... Ultimately casual... so don't stress over getting everything down, bring business or contact cards and network with everyone, drink up, and enjoy!
