ProBlogger Meetup – New York – The Details

Posted By Darren Rowse 21st of March 2007 ProBlogger Site News 0 Comments

Ok – I’ve got the details of the ProBlogger Meetup in New York. Sorry for the delay in this but we wanted to get a great location. We’ve also had to change the date to one day later than previously mentioned.

The details are:

THURSDAY, March 29, 6:30pm to 9:30pm at:
Connolly’s Pub and Restaurant
121 West 45th St (between 6th and Broadway)
(212) 597-5126 phone

http://www.connollyspubandrestaurant.com

*please note this bar has three locations in the area so use the address above.

The night is being sponsored by Text Link Ads who are generously providing an open top shelf bar and food for three hours.

So if you’re in the New York area (and for those of you who have said you’re flying in for it) please come along, say g’day and have a drink with me. I’d love to meet you and would appreciate it if you could pass this information along to any other New York Bloggers who you think might be interested in a fun night.

  1. Would anyone be opposed to my being there to promote the recently (as of tonight) out-of-beta HitTail blog headline suggestion tool? ProBlogger has been by far the biggest referrer recently, thanks to that article about the top things to do to promote your blog in 2007. So, it seems like a crowd I would like to meet. Also, this actually is THE VERY FIRST announcement we’ve made of being out of beta. The press release hasn’t even gone out yet.

  2. Mike – you’d be welcome to come along and network with everyone. No big promotion of stuff – but bring your business cards and get around to those who are attending and it should be fun.

  3. As i am in India i can just dream about it , I hope one day you will visit my country also Mr darren .

  4. Connolly’s won’t know what’s hit them, guys!

  5. I think they’re expecting us – Patrick from TLA has booked it :-)

I’m not sure if TLA’s bank account will know what’s hit em (I know some of you don’t mind a drink :-) ).

  6. Heh…. I’m flying that day and have a connection in JFK. Maybe I’ll just miss my connection, drop by, and take the train back home after….

  7. will be nice to meet you Tim!

  8. For Sale ! For Sale. !

Ad space on the bag, the clothes and the whole person, definitly 100+ hits every hour. I am ready to sell adspace on my accessories in exchange for a free ticket, food and accommodation and a sightseeing tour to the meet up…..any takers?

:-)) Darren, I will be there once this deal is through! No other way for a 19yr old/young to reach there from India!!!!

  9. Ha ha!

Cant wait for a meet up like this in Oz!

  10. I’m excited about this. I’m going to blog about it right now on my blog and http://www.2kbloggers.com but I have one question: I’ve never been to a blogger meetup. Should I bring my laptop? :)

  11. […] I live in Manhattan. I think Tino lives in New York, too. Who else among us lives in the Big Apple? For those who do, or for those who can visit, Darren Rowse of Problogger is having a blogger meetup on March 29th. The meetup is for readers of his blog, so if you aren’t already a reader, you should become one. […]

  12. […] I’m going to a Problogger reader meetup on March 29th. Details are at Problogger and at 2kbloggers. Since when did I say no to free beer? […]

  13. Hmm, I think I might have to drive up for this. You had me at open bar – I mean… I would absolutely love to meet you Darren! Could you give us a little more info about this. Like Elaine, I haven’t been to a blogger meet up either. When I was younger, I had meet ups with my car club, but I think this may be a bit different ;)

  14. I hope to hear all the stories and your experience on this. Its really great .I hope it happens in india soon

  15. Hey Darren, I’d like you and your crew to come to the southern half of the US. When are you planning a visit to Atlanta, Birmingham or Nashville so we south-east bloggers can shake hands, rub elbows and swap ideas directly?

  16. I so can’t wait!!!! I’ll be taking the train down and back that night, and possibly bringing my dad, who I’m trying to get into blogging for profit as well.

Personally – just knowing what NYC bars/venues are like, and what “meetups” are like, I wouldn’t recommend bringing a laptop with you – not for any other reason than you likely won’t have space or time. This is just a meetup, not a conference or anything like that… Ultimately casual… so don’t stress over getting everything down, bring business or contact cards and network with everyone, drink up, and enjoy!

Although it’s highly advised to bring some sort of palm pilot or small paper notebook just for the sake of remembering names and such…

And OH YES – there WILL be a camera in my bag!!!

Huge thanks to Darren for the idea and to TLA for making it happen – I knew I loved those guys for a reason!! :)

  17. Wooo, a chance to meet the famous Darren, and in my hometown. Yeah I’ll show up, and I’ll leave my ego at home for a change. By the way, really good location, they have VERY good food, assuming all of their locations are the same as the 2 I’ve been to.

How many people are you expecting?

    Jon

  18. […] Problogger’s Meetup. I love this kind of interactivity. It really is amazing to get to know people behind their masks (blogs). […]

  19. I’m going to see if I can rearrange my schedule to be there.

We fly into the area, so it’s a pretty easy trip!

  20. Thanks for the invite. I definitely will stop by.

  21. Hello All –

Dave (of OGaugeWatch.com) and I were going to head into the city early (from S. Jersey).

Thought we could find some place with free wi-fi and comfortable seating somewhere close to the bar and do some blogging and talk shop.

I’m going to search for some locations….

    — Mark

  22. This sounds great! There are a few of us from Zoom In Online looking forward to stopping by. Thanks for setting this up – great idea!

  23. […] Just a reminder that tonight is Darren Rowse’s blogger meetup for the readers of his blog, Problogger: […]
