How Many Blogs do You Blog On?

Posted By Darren Rowse 17th of March 2007 Miscellaneous Blog Tips 0 Comments

A quick reader question:

how many blogs do you actively blog on?

I’m not asking about how many inactive blogs you own – but how many do you contribute to with a post of your own at least once a week?

PS: I’ve previously asked a similar question – how many blogs do you ‘own’? which found most owned one, but 13% owned more than 10. Of course, these days writing on a blog doesn’t mean you ‘own’ it as such with many group blogs and blog networks.

  1. I post to three weekly.

  2. Just one here. I honestly do not think I could make quality contributions to more than that.

  3. I post on 2 blogs about once a week – I then post less frequently on 2 other blogs. I also have a few other “inactive” blogs…

Not all of these blogs are “professional” blogs that I make money off.

  4. I have a personal blog for keepig in touch with friends that I’ve kept updated for more than four years. I have a second blog called “Something Good” that focuses on better living, and I generally update it about four times a week. Neither of these would qualify as a “problog,” though, as they’re not monetized. I’m also in the process of helping my husband develop his search and rescue blog and have a fourth one in the “incubation” period of getting started up. It will probably follow the trend of my Something Good blog with about four updates a week.

  5. Just one. Don’t have enough energy to do much more while working full time as well.

  6. I used to have 6 blogs, 4 of them were active, eg a few posts a week, but i couldn’t keep it all up.

So now, i focus on my blog Food For Your Mind, which is a blog that focuses on everything to do with culture, creativity and/or interesting/exciting things, and i also have a blog called Claim Your Story Or Spot The Fake One, which is a collection of funny dialogues i have heard on the streets of London, or i have made up (hence the title). I post on each of them about 5 times a week – that’s plenty enough for me!

  7. I run and write on two blogs. I couldn’t handle any more than that if I wanted to without doing it full time.

  8. I post to three at least weekly. I post to a couple more once or twice a month. A few more are most likely abandoned at this point.

  9. I own 5 blogs, but actively maintain 3. I post every day, perhaps with a one day gap sometimes.

  10. I blog on seven blogs – four are mine and three are owned by others.

  11. One, considering another for my “general” writing, anecdotal, and not monetized. I’m not sure where I’m at on the blog learning curve, been active for a month.

Quit my job as a 16 year claims adjuster to try my hand at “writing” as it was now or never otherwise it (the writing) thing, would keep eating away at my soul.

  12. Just the one personally!

It’s connected with my custom tailored shirt business. Although I found myself posting about general business topics extremely quickly…

  13. I blog ~daily on the five that I own. I contribute to two forums on a regular basis, and I’m stretching myself ever thinner, added with a 50+ hour/week job that has nothing to do with computers or the internet. I’m thinking of either giving it the big ‘go’ and employing someone to see out my ideas, or focusing tighter and decreasing my workload by giving up/combining one or two blogs.

  14. i blog daily on two personal blogs. the main one hosted by typepad, the other on Zaadz. then i feed my main blog into other social networks like Facebook and Multiply.

  15. I post to two blogs.

One gets a post every second day, I’m the only poster.

The other I post to irregularly, there are two other contributors.

  16. I write for two blogs, one is a corporate flash one and one is my personal business one!

  17. I update four weekly in addition to sporadically post on two “junk” blogs.

  18. I run and write on 7 blogs. daily on one private blog and every 3 to 6 days on six corporate or association blogs.

  19. I have 3 blogs on completely different topics, plus one meta-blog that’s a central place for news/recaps about my site and what I’m learning. Since most of my posts are videos and screencasts, posting just once a week on all 3 main blogs is enough to keep me plenty busy!

  20. I own 2 blogs in which I write daily, one about web design and related issues, and the other just ranting a little about different things, but mostly about life in Surname, South America

  21. Just two for me:

    Clickworthy Links (http://clickworthy.1gr8.com)
    and
Clear Eye for A.I. – American Idol (http://blog.abetterai.com)

However, American Idol is only 6 months out of the year…so I’ll need to re-evaluate in June. ;-)

  22. I post to five.

Mine, two SportsBlogs Nation sites, my family’s blog, and The Apple Blog.

  23. My personal blog and one new blog doing craft reviews http://www.craftcritique.com though we call ourselves reporters instead of bloggers.

  24. One. Most of what I do I can post onto one. I knit..and draw so , it all kinda goes together.

  25. I just started a month ago, so I have one. But I am working on ideas to make 3-4 more on different topics. I am really excited to get those started as well! :)

  26. I now blog on just one blog, although I have several more sites (I do not blog on them though – they are more community-oriented in a local market).

I am also working on starting a second blog, related to my off-line ventures (in the translations market) – it will complement the company’s website.

  27. Just two. I am more of a reader but less of a writer.

  28. I post several times per week on my main blog. I write one post weekly for another blog, owned by someone else.

I have 5 other small blogs, which I post to every 10 days or so.

  29. I have four blogs. Two of them, my design business and my personal blog, involve actual writing of longer posts every 3 or 4 days, and two of them are monetized niche blogs that offer new content about every other day now that they are up and running. It’s a struggle to maintain all of them at a good level, but I am managing to keep my head above water.

  30. Probably just three. I am trying to do better about getting posts on those three daily and my other blogs at least weekly, but I am still falling behind. Some weeks I just don’t feel motivated in some areas or else I am just too busy. So yes, I am one of those people who has six to ten blogs but lets more than half of them languish in neglect most of the time.

  31. I update my movie blog pretty much every day and then about 3 other blogs I post to about once a week.

  32. 2 serious ones a couple of small experimental ones. I cringe every time a WordPress update is released.

  33. I have well in excess of 10 domains and most run on a blogging platform ;)

I currently only deliberately maintain an active growing community on less than 10

I get offers to join communal blogs fairly frequently, but don’t accept them for various reasons, mainly because on my blog there can be no potential conflict of interests, or disclosure problems.

  34. Right now, I post on a total of 4. 2 get updated on Monday’s, 1 gets updated Tuesday and Thursday, and the last one I post to everyday. I also have about 6 inactive blogs Currently working to restructure all of my blogs so that I can post more.

  35. I write for two now and getting ready to open up another one.

  36. Up until last week I had just been doing the one blog on personal finance and eliminating debt. However, I just joined the ranks of the narcissistic bloggers and started a site with my own name as the domain. So now I am trying to do two blogs but it is difficult to try and keep up with at least one post per day on both blogs while also working full time.

  37. I’m about to start blogging for 3 different blogs, all about travel. I’m somewhat concerned about “production,” but I think if I really get organized I can swing it. Don’t know how people can handle more than 3-4….

  38. I have 1 blog, I’m not thinking about another one at this time…

  39. Just one regularly for me (http://www.germworks.net)

on my business website (http://www.jp2designs.com) I posted once or twice a month which is usually news and that from my germworks blog anyway. and im also starting a youth website for my church which I will be involved in BUT apart from that not much else…

  40. I have 4 that I post at regularly. One main one that gets most of my attention and then 3 others that get a few posts a week. I have a 5th that I am just starting to look into adding into the schedule.

  41. hmm?? about 5 or 6?

  42. I own two blogs and i actively write on both of them

  43. I post to 4 blogs a couple times a week (not counting Facebook and Twitter). I have another 2 blogs (including my personal Vox blog) which I update when I have something to post. I also have two podcasts I publish every two weeks or so and I am probably starting another one soon.

  44. Four blogs, (average once a week). Could not cope with any more unless I did it full time, and am really struggling with four. Thinking of cutting back to two.

  45. I update 4 blogs on regular basis. I own several blogs, the rest are dying slowly..

  46. 7 blogs which are regularly updated – at least once a week, often everyday. Another 5 blogs where I lost enthusiasm.

  47. I write at two blogs. One daily and the other every now and then when it´s needed since other people write for it. I used to have a third one but abandoned it to focus on the other two.

  48. I post on one daily and two others at least twice a week.
