I think this is a great example of not needing to get permission to be successful.

So often people will tell me that they're not qualified to do what they really want to do so they end up doing something they hate instead. Sometimes, it can be as simple as starting a blog...

Anyway, thanks for sharing this story - it's pretty cool.

That's so weird. Just one week ago, I was telling my boyfriend, who is a television editor and rabid sports fan, that if he wants to work at ESPN some day (his big dream) that he should start a sports blog, because it would be a great outlet for all the things he wants to say about sports, and it might give him a foot in the door at ESPN.

Guess I was right. Now if only I can get him past his own neuroses (his response to my suggestion was "no one wants to hear what I have to say"), and at least try something... *sigh*

Do they often discolse how much they paid for the blog? If one was really interested it would be in the annual prospectus share information which the corporation has to realease to the public.

I'd love to see a list of blogs that have been bought and how much they fetched.

I would be interested to know how much the site was sold for! Could be a very wise investment if handled properly! Thanks for the link Darren.

I think this deal is very similar to what happened to Bill Simmons several years ago. ESPN basically took over his Sports Guy site in a similar fashion.
