WordPress 2.0.6 Upgrade Available

Posted By Darren Rowse 6th of January 2007 Blogging Tools and Services 0 Comments

If you’re a WordPress blogger you’ll want to take a look at this post over at WP’s Development blog announcing an upgrade to WordPress 2.0.6. It’s a security upgrade and therefore something to pay attention to.

They also note that this is the last update before the release of WP 2.1 which is now in it’s beta phase.

I’ve had a glimpse of 2.1 and it has some nice features – looking forward to getting it here at PB.

  1. Hey Darren,

    first off: great site, got some really useful tips of it. Still having a tough time geting my blog running though, but I will get there, with time and endurance.

    I’m excited about WordPress 2.1 too, it should clean up and tighten a few things which are a bit of legacy from WP 1.5 … I wonder what’s in store…

  2. Any word on what to expect from WP 2.1?

  3. AFR : Blogger takes free laptop in his stride…

    Josh’s (or should I say Joshua) article is in the AFR today. Moira went out to buy me the paper, put…

    * Script loader.

  5. At the risk of getting mobbed by wordpress junkies, have you tried Drupal at all? I’m just curious. I guess it’s a bit more CMS orientated, and WordPress does seem like a nicely polished blogging system.

    Whatever you use, it always pays to stay up to date when using open source!

  6. Thanks for the list Ian, I’m really looking forward to 2.1 now.

  7. Have any of you upgraded to 2.0.6? If so, any issues thus far?

  8. I’m a relatively new WordPress user, so this was my first upgrade. Didn’t quite go as smoothly as I would have liked. But it was only an hour of downtime this morning and everything is fine now.

  9. StrangeProgress, I have tried drupal, quite recently. Blog Bullet was started on drupal as I wanted to give it a serious go. After 2 weeks I couldn’t take it anymore, for a blog like mine, Darren’s and most people, drupal is just too much work. WordPress however is simple to use and simple to write for.

  10. I am in turning point in my blogging ‘career’ but I am unsure whether to take it or not. I am using the new version of eblogger. My blog is still quite young (a couple of weeks) but it is surprisingly full, and the main promlem is that the posts need catagorising, which the new version of eblogger cannot do. I have started a testblog on word press and it does look like the system I have been waiting for. I know I should really start a better, higher qualtiy blog on there, one that I will spend more time thinking about, and less time posting ‘just above average’ posts on. I am just struggeling to make this leap onto a new blogging system, it is alot to learn, is it worth it?
