Partners Network CPA Ads Go Live

Posted By Darren Rowse 16th of December 2006 Advertising 0 Comments

Performancing have officially started running their CPA Network Ads on publishers blogs. Nick writes:

“Right now they are very broad in topic, as this is simply a test (but a test with the aim of making you money..), but presuming all goes to plan, we’ll roll out more creatives and more specific targeting in coming days.

The ads are geo targeted, so if you’re outside of the US, you may not see too much, but visitors in the US will see ads targeted to them. Again this is something we hope to work on if the beta test goes good. ”

While I understand the geo targeting I have to say it is a bit unnerving for a publisher who isn’t in the US to have ads running on your blog that you cannot see – particularly if the ads are ‘broad’. I think I’ll opt out of it here at ProBlogger until they bring in more targeted ads. For the time being though I’ll leave them on my less targeted blogs.

  1. I have them running on my blog for now. You are correct in saying that they are not very targeted ads, but I will leave them up for a few weeks and see how they do. This could be an excellent service if we had a little more control over the ads.
    Thanks

  2. Those are absolutely the ugliest most outdated and antiquated ads I have ever seen. I would never put something that grotesque on any of my sites! Animated GIF-style ads? How 2001! If I go to a website and see it “blinking” you better believe I am closing the window — not clickng out on an ad.

    Gross.

  3. I think I’m opting out of mine. When I woke up yesterday morning there were five blinking ads on my site, not one of them having to do with the subject matter. While I do wish to monetize my blog, I don’t care for a bunch of cheesy, random, flashing ads running down the side. Performancing needs to figure out how to tailor the ads to fit the subject matter.

  4. Speaking of Ads.. any news form Yahoo on changes to YPN?
I would sure like to see some better formats.

Maybe even a Christmas present for all of us Publishers that have stuck with them.

    :)
