What’s the Weirdest Thing You’ve Sold on Amazon?
Some days when I check what was bought via my Amazon Associate’s affiliate program the previous day I just have to laugh. Here’s a random sample of 10 items from yesterday’s sales which I think has to be the oddest collection of sales I’ve every had in a day.
- Waring MG800 Professional Electric Meat Grinder
- 30 HP NorTrac Bulldozer and Backhoe
- Vote for Pedro Ringer T-shirt for men
- Intermediate Algebra, Ninth Edition
- Jerky Treats, Sizzlin’ Bac’n, 11.25 Ounce Unit
- Walnut Gavel with Engravable Brass Band
- Pulse B-2 Tunable 2-Tone Bongos
- Tampax Super Absorbency Tampons, 100-Count Boxes (Pack of 2)
- Coomb’s Maple Syrup, Premium Grade B, 32-Ounce Jug
- Gold Toe Men’s Metropolitan Dress Sock, 3-Pack
You’ve got to love Amazon - considering all I ever link to are camera gear and books!
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve sold via Amazon’s Affiliate Program?

Never really got into affiliate marketing. Thought about mass CPA advertising before but didn’t really keep up with it:

Ummm. DVD’s! Ahem, I have a Movie Review site that uses Amazon’s database. :)
For those that want to know. It’s http://www.mymoviereview.info
It’s fairly new but rising in popularity.

It’s interesting that you post this because my Amazon store is quite ecclectic. I figured that, in addition to the books and DVDs that people expect I would also try to sell other things that people might be interested in buying, as well (like household cleaning supplies and the such).
It makes me smile just thinking about it.
I’m experimenting with it so we’ll see how successful it is.

I have a sports-centric site and I was amused to see a book entitled “Diagnosis and Treatment of the Narcissistic Family”.

Who buys Meat Grinders anyway?
The weirdest thing I’ve ever sold is a book about astronomy… I guess I need to make more sales.

I guess the 30 HP NorTrac Bulldozer and Backhoe was not Pay per Sale, right?
Would not be too bad, like 5% of the $21,799.99, that would be $1090. Not too bad.

I’ve only had one sale since I started blogging a coupel months back… a garage door opener. My blog is about food and I usually put up links to cookbooks and gourmet grocery stuff, heh.

What’s really weird is that, due to the mighty ProBlogger PR power, you’re now going to rank in Google for all those items. :)

The story behind how you came to have such an ecletic mix to sell could be a post unto itself.

In the same day, I “sold” a Praise Baby Collection: Born to Worship and “Spunk’d” … apparently a gay porn DVD called Live! Crude! Guys!
Both having nothing to do with food or cooking.

I was just kibbitzing around and put a link to the most expensive priced item I could find last year for Xmas .. and ..it sold.
Briggs & Stratton Power Products Model 9801 10,000 Watt Portable Generator - Price $1,998.94 - 4% Commission $79.96
Sweeeeeeeeet. It’s still about 80% of my amazon lifetime earnings. All my others are like $0.56 each etc.

I sell more books than anything else on Amazon, and one of the weirdest books I’ve sold on Amazon was something I actually promoted:
The Dog Dialed 911
A few odd titles (that I have never heard of!):
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
Scrooge Meets Dick and Jane
My Tank Is Fight!

Ha!! I do get the oddest things too, I’m wondering how someone coming to read a parenting blog would end up buying Lilly Industries 2407 12-Ounce Paint Remover, for example ;). I wonder if people do it just to mess with our minds? ;)

You know, I have an Amazon Associate account set up, and even though I get about 1000 visitors a day to my tech blog, I get virtually 0 conversion on Amazon stuff. I even set up an integrated aStore on my site:
http://technabob.com/blog/shop/
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I do quite well with my CTR on Google and Chitika ads, but I never have had much success with Amazon (I tried their Omakase links, and got a decent number of clicks but no conversion).

I have a music-focused site that primarily generates music-related sales, specific to Frank Sinatra. Recently, however, I noticed that due to the Christmas season people are buying a much wider variety of items. The one item of note was an X-rated female product that required batteries…. It wasn’t until that moment that I realized Amazon even sold those items. Now I realize: they sell EVERYTHING.

My astore doesn’t get a lot of traffic, and therefore does not get many sales. Though the other day I commented in an amazon sellers forum about a weird thing I spotted on the amazon uk site, by providing a link to it I generated over a dozen sales that day!
It was certainly the strangest thing I’d ever seen on amazon and with a hefty price tag too! check it out yourselves - metalgnu How it got in the kitchen and homewares category i’m not really sure though!
