Poll of the Week - How much did You Earn from AdSense in November 2006?
Every few days someone asks me when I’m going to do another ‘poll of the week’. The reason I’ve not done any is that the plugin I was using to run them had some security problems and I was waiting for an update. This has recently come through so I’ve added a poll for this week asking readers about their AdSense earnings.
It’s been exactly a year since I asked about AdSense so it will be interesting to compare earnings for November in 2005 with November 2006. Here’s the results from last year.
Next week I’ll do the poll on Chitika earnings (as I did last year) so we can compare those results also and then the following poll will be on total earnings.
Head over to the sidebar and vote now.
PS: am aware that the results version of the plugin is screwing up my sidebar. We’re working on it.

November was my best month yet, doubling Octobers Adsense revenue to approximately two dollars. :-)
If I can keep doubling each month, I’ll be doing well in twelve months time.

November wasn’t bad for me, but I’m just happy it is increasing with every month. Looking forward to the Total Earnings poll just to see if the numbers are significantly higher than the Adsense or Chitika Earnings.

Something’s terribly wrong with the poll results display. All of the bars are mis-rendered and the dollar amounts are pushed off to the right and overlaid on the comments here.

Darron - would you mind sharing which plugin you are using to accomplish this?

Darren, can you redo the poll and tie it to levels of traffic? That’s what makes sense to me.
How many visitors or page views you have, and how much you make a day/week/month with Adsense.
When you can tie those things together, a lot can be learned.
Also, off topic, can you get a subscribe to comments plugin installed here :)

I have $70+ for November. May I know which poll plugin do you use? I’m using wp-poll and it works very great on my blog. Good luck..

I, too, had my biggest earnings in Adsense. I don’t go up every month though, but generally the curve is rising!
I’m almost out of my bracket, we’ll see in a few months. Definitely in a year’s time. I think this time this time I’m in the average, but I can’t read the poll (I know you know), so that’s great for readers!
Hey, I’m now overall in 4 figures a month, and into 5 a year! I just read an article that mentioned another one blog made 5 figures. (A “competitor.”) Ah well. I think when Pursed Lips gets fully out of the sandbox, I’ll kick tushie.

Your poll wouldn’t work for me. Kept waiting and waiting.
I’m using Safari.

The total earnings going up seemed to be a direct result of much improved traffic from google keyword searching.
The question shouldn’t be about total earnings because that is relative to traffic increases, but if the eCPM increased in November. For that question, the answer is that it went up slightly, and even more this month so far.

November was by far my best month, hence I only started in October, so its increasing. Really nice inference of the people that use adsense and their earnings.

After a decrease in October, my AdSense increased. It seems that google keyword searches are helping me out to. My problem with AdSense is directly related to the amount of traffic I get.
Definitely looking for ways to increase traffic.

Hi Darren!
Great topic :)
November 2006 is my 1st month using AdSense! My goal was to make .01 USD (honestly, I didn’t know if I would make any revenue within the first 4 weeks of this new venture) and I’m happy to say that I made that mark!
Sorry if I seem a bit excited over that but it’s all new to me as of now and I’m looking forward to the future and my next goal *
I made my first $1.00 after 3 days and my first $5.00 after 7 full days. (( November for me has only consisted of 2 weeks since I’ve just started )) I hope to be here for your poll next year with a bit of an increase in my earnings :) But I am happy so far with the little progress I’ve made.
Thanks in part to the great articles I’ve found here at ProBlogger.net my first 2 weeks have been exciting!
Take Care : )

Jim - “Darren, can you redo the poll and tie it to levels of traffic? That’s what makes sense to me.”
I’m afraid that’s a bit beyond the capability of this poll, it’d be more of a 3 dimensional thing. I’m toying with a more comprehensive survey early next year which might help us collect this information.
“Also, off topic, can you get a subscribe to comments plugin installed here :)”
It’s something I’ve previously had but as I get so much comment spam it was a bit embarrassing to have my readers being emailed every time there was a penis extension comment left. I’m a bit more on top of comment spam these days so maybe it’s time to turn it on again.

Off topic - Michael Hampton is right, Democracy 2.0.1 plugin is fine with Firefox, but totally messy with IE6.
Darren, vote 10K or more - or $10 -$19 ;) - and check the result with IE6: I bet we won’t see another poll here before a while…

For November 2006, I earned exactly $57.75 from AdSense.
We’ll see how this month goes as I just released http://www.blogflare.com
Perhaps that number will go back up to where it used to be ($350+/mo).

November was up from October by about $6, but was triple September’s earnings (my lowest ever). My best month so far was July, but I’ve yet to earn the $100 minimum for payment in any one month. However, this is all only coming from one site, so I suppose it’s not too bad. Though I definitely need to work on getting a regular readership going better. I don’t do AdSense on my business site, so it’s just on one of my personal sites. I can’t complain, as the niche is sooooo overloaded with advertisers - most clicks only earn me a few pennies each anyway.

November was my best month to date! My earnings from Nov. 2005 to Nov. 2006 have quadrupled. My goals for 2007 will be to increase traffic and do more SEO on my sites.

November was my first month, I started working with AdSence. So for three day, ads on my blog take about 100 demonstrations and give me a single click. :-) Now I’m reading more about SEO and planning traffic (and profit) increase this month.
Little tip: Poll is working, but looks crazy in Firefox.

Interesting to read everyone’s posts. I am in the under $10.00 a month group. I started blogging in August, and am still working on getting people to read my blog. (I appreciate all the tips I’ve read hear about doing that.) My readers have gone up each month, and that’s fun to see. Mainly, I am having a lot of fun.
My adsense ads are at the bottom, and I know if I want them to be seen, I have to move them up, but I don’t like them interferring with how my blog looks, so I know I don’t follow conventional wisdom.
Thanks for the poll info from last year. It’s amazing to think that people make that much money off their blogs.

Oops…posted this earlier in wrong post. Comments kinda confusing here…
I’m VERY happy to say that there are only 3 levels above me before I can vote that I made over $10,000/month. I started completely from scratch in late April of 2006 and last month made over $1600 and may possibly hit the $2000/month mark for December. I definitely owe a lot to you, Darren and…well, I have to give a big pat on the back to Wordpress and Google.
Blogging rocks! Let’s just hope it continues and stock markets don’t crash… :O

My advice to anyone wanting to make more money with adsense/blogging is to make a TON of different blogs with different domain names. I currently have 14 blogs, each with their own domain. It is a LOT of work…sometimes I find myself working all day without stopping…but I usually take the weekends off.
I think it is a must to use wordpress..it is so great with the search engines. Other than that, choose niche topics that will attract good adsense ads and optimize your ads so they get more clicks.
And read this blog thoroughly, of course…

For my personal blog (lots of software developer talk, but otherwise not targetted) in November, I tallied an average of 738 Google ad impressions per day for $6.62 per day and total for the month of $198.71.
I’ve got another site that has literally 10 times the traffic and made $3 less in revenue.

It’s against Google’s rules for people to give out exact figures on how much they make via Adsense.

All these big numbers are encouraging. I’ve only just started getting into double digits in November, but my traffic is growing very quickly now. I’m still wondering if adsense is the best thing for a personal blog that touches on a variety of topics, though. I’d love to hear suggestions of what else to try…

A few years I was hoping to break that $100 so I could get a check. A typical month in Q3 of 2004 got me $70 or so. A year later I was doing over $200/month. This quarter I’m averaging $700+. Most of it comes from one site (which has a blog, but stats show most of the income off the site, not the blog, fyi). I’ve played with ad colors and layouts, redesigned the site, gotten increased traffic every month. FYI, this site is focused on very low paying keywords because I started it out of “passion” and not focused on making money. I’d like to see if I could reproduce this but I just haven’t had time to focus well on another site.

I might be the lowest of all. I made about $2. It’s been nearly 3 month since I started using adsense. But ads I got is very cheap one most of the time per click. So it is very hard to expect a big increase.

November was my best month of all time.
November 2005 : $10
November 2006 : $300
Adsense is not bad.. but the New Feedburner ad Network is fantastic.. no CPC.. just some good old CPM ads.. some of the ads I’m displaying go up to 10$CPM.

Jim - “Darren, can you redo the poll and tie it to levels of traffic? That’s what makes sense to me.”
Except it really doesn’t. A Camera Review site with 10M visitors a day will have markedly different income than a Political Blog with the same readership.
A site that gets a lot of search directed visitors will generally earn more than the same site that gets mostly repeat readers.
You need to compare apples to apples, or at least to other fruit.

I broke several personal records on Adsense during the month of November. My history in Adsense for the month of November is:
November 2004 - $210
November 2005 - $792
November 2006 - $1265
There were several other affiliates I use that had a record breaking with too.
I’ve just completed my second ever $4,000 month.
It’s been a good year!

$103.33 in November for me. Thats my 3rd month on AdSense. Made $130 across both September and October. I expect December will result in a little over $100 because I haven’t really been working on the site for about a month now. Once Christmas rolls around, I’ll be doing some more heavy work on it.
Keep up the good work Darren.
