MyBlogLog Sold to Yahoo! for a reported $10m
TechCrunch is reporting that MyBlogLog (a social media site for bloggers) has sold to Yahoo! for $10m.
This is a pretty impressive sale as MyBlogLog has transitioned from being a blog metrics package to a social media one in a relatively short time. Congrats to the MyBlogLog team.
Update – TechCrunch have posted that they may have been premature in their claims and that MyBlogLog and Yahoo! are in the early stages of negotiation rather than the end ones.

i really dont get this, what so special on the site that it’s worth 10 M for yahoo. yeah, social websites are really popular and they have a big potential, but still…

Blogging and social networking seem to be bringing in big bucks. in fact, just about anything that draws tons of people.

I just read an update at TechCrunch that suggests this may not be the case. According to the update, “Yahoo and MyBlogLog are in very early acquisistion discussions, and nothing more.”

That is simply amazing. I joined MyBlogLog last week and this really caught my eye on my Netvibes. The way one can build something so intellectually valuable still amazes me and keeps my wheels turning as I await my idea to break to the world at large.
Jawed Karim is a person that I like to tell people about when I tell them about my excitement about blogging and wanting to develop or publish something that people REALLY want.
For those of you unfamiliar with him, he is an intellectual contributor to YouTube.com, which sold to Google for over a Billion dollars in October.
There is plenty of room left on the Internet for more Jaweds.

This kind of site is obviously popular with pagerank of 6 and an alexa ranking of ~2500. The internet is becoming a very interactive experience; people like this stuff.
