Mesh Meetup

Posted By Darren Rowse 17th of November 2006 Pro Blogging News 0 Comments

I had a great time at the Mesh meetup last night in Toronto.

It was great to meet a few old friends and a few new ones – putting a lot of names to faces including Tony from Deep Jive Interests, Sacha Chua, Stuart MacDonald, Mark Evans (whose office I’m writing this from at the moment), Rob Schaumer (who hugged me – because I in my previous post about the event I asked for hugs due to the coldness), Leesa Barnes, Vince Chan, Rob Hyndman, Yaro Starak and more.

Canadians are a friendly bunch!

  1. Hey, we’re trying very hard to “toughen up” our friendly image! We went so far as you change our national mascot from the beaver to a beaver with razor sharp fangs and pointy claws.

I think you sent our “Canada — We’re tough too” campaign back six months.

    :(

  2. It was great to finally meet in person! Hope your stay includes more than just meetings — try and see the Leafs or something ;)

    Cheers

  3. Ditto – and looking forward to that mesh-b5media dinner!

  4. I’m sad that I had to miss it.

  5. actually we just booked tickets for Saturday night. My first hockey experience.

  6. Canadians are friendly I don’t know why some Americans dis them.

  7. it was great to meet up with everyone, and of course Darren & Jeremy. It was also a great surprise to find Yaro there.

    Enjoy the Leafs game.

  8. Thanks for the shout out. I’m sorry we didn’t get a chance to chat more, but at least I got to shake your hand :) And had I known you needed a hug, I would’ve hugged ya. Lord knows I need one too.

  9. […] At the mesh meetup on Wednesday night I hung around Darren Rowse trying to keep the Australians in the room in one place so we didn’t get lost, which turned out to be an interesting place to stay as different people came up asking Darren – “Are you Darren Rowse?” – obviously recognising the Problogger. When I introduced myself to most of the people they had trouble pronouncing my name (as usual) but most were not quite as well aware of my blogging legacy as Darren’s. There were a few who knew “Yaro” though and it always blows me away to meet people in person who know my blogs and work online. A big hello to Leesa Barnes, Vince Chan (the (in)famous amblogger), Tony Hung (the first real life doctor blogger I have ever met, strangely enough blogging about Web 2.0 and nothing medical), Gary Grant (another blog network owner) and of course the rest of the b5 media crew in attendance, Jeremy Wright (who I had dinner with when I first arrived in Toronto) and Mark Evans.
