Unfortunately the problem of people misusing other people’s content is one that is increasingly common. I find that some seem to do it without realizing that they are breaking copyright and not knowing what is and isn’t acceptable - however there is also an increasing number of people who do it quite maliciously.
PS: in more recent times Lorelle has written a comprehensive and up to date post on what to do when someone steals your content also which will also be useful to those facing the problem.

well Daren i am not such a good writer, if someone steal my content it will be a great mistake for them:P
If i find out i will just drop a e-mail to remove that content, or at least note that he/she borrowed that from me. It definitely hurts but very little could be done, creative commons is effective but not everywhere.

I have noticed lately that some people have been “stealing” my content and I have to say that I am bigly hugely flattered that they value my mumbled jottings enough to copy them.

I just found an individual who rippep up 4-5 different posts from my blog. I was wondering how to approach the issue until I saw your post.
Your post gives me the confidence to face the problem. I will let you know how it goes and if you want, I will post a copy of the email I am sending to the web master right now!

There are several sites that do ‘mashups’: One has taken the first 50 -100 words verbatim of my articles, plus my links and publish them ‘as is.’ with a link to me, where noone will bother with. since my entire post is there for others to use.
Such websites receive link flow back to THEM, not my web site. I feel shortchanged.
It looks like it’s possible to leverage other websites with 100% other’s work.
I’m not sure what to do: is this legal? I’m not happy about it. thanks.

I’m dealing with this right now. I like the idea of approaching advertisers. the company that the domain name is registered to doesn’t seem like it’s going to be of much help, so chasing the income source is a good idea.

problem solved, as the scraping stopped today & all of my content was removed from their archives.
what did i do?
phone call and e-mail to domain name registrar
e-mail to web host service
e-mail to the adsense people, who e-mailed me back and said it’s not their business.
