New Mac Ads Say it All
I think that the latest Mac/PC ads from Apple (counselor, better results and self pity) say it all don’t you? :-)

All I can respond with is: wow.
Simply amazing. Yet I still continue to use a PC even though I know macs are better.

I laughed out loud at the better results one. It’s a cheap dig but we have just been doing video interviews at uni and you can certainly tell the difference, the same applies to powerpoint vs keynote.

Sex and beauty will always drive advertising - - and the blog space.

Sex will only sell if it’s relevant to the message, IMHO.
Love the new ad, and at least Justin Long isn’t as smug as the previous ones.

Just like I would choose PC’s bank account over Mac’s bank account, I will take my brand new shiny red Dell XPS over a MacBook any day.
I am not going to say that the PCs are better than Macs. I am just going to say that they are better for me, along with 87% of the rest of earth. :)

This AD says everything! But, I will continue using PC :). MAC is not for me (programmer), but it would be wonderful for my father (works with video).
Well, the girl is Gisele Bündchen here from my land (Brazil) :D

I made the full transition this year and now own a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro. I’m an ASP.NET developer in my day job (the Windows-based Web platform), so I use Parallels to run Visual Studio and such. But everything else in my daily life is all about the Mac now. I also do some HD work on the side, for which Final Cut Pro is awesome.

I think Apple might be shooting themselves in the collective foot with these ads. I could be wrong…
In any case, gimme a PC over a Mac any day =)

“I think Apple might be shooting themselves in the collective foot with these ads. I could be wrong…”
I tend to agree…the farther they push it, the more it the more they will lose the appeal of these ads.
Since the Mac vs. PC market share battle is largely price driven, these ads are likely positioned to target Mac users as a ego stroke rather than an attempt to convert PC users.

These ads are funny to watch, but I will still use a PC

I’d hit that home movie on the right ;)
The other…with a shovel, in the face.
I don’t really get 1/2 of these commercials, because they say they do things then the PC stutters and says it can do something else while it, too, can do them.
Generally they’re not bad, and they’re way better than the old Mac ads they were running. “I’m a mac user. Duhrta-duhr.”

As funny as the commercial is, I must agree it’s a LOT easier to put together a great-looking movie using Mac’s native applications (like iMovie) than it is with Movie Maker in a Windows environment.
As an example, here’s my first iMovie video, which took me 1.5 hours to put together. You can argue it’s not a high-end production, but if you consider that I know close to nothing about video production/editing, you’ll realize how easy it is to use…

Simple, sharp to the point.
apple scores another home run on the marketing department.
I think for the things it has a niche in: publishing, video editing, music, design, it definitely has a high barrier of entry.
i just need to keep my PC around for warcraft and counter strike…

Apple’s commercials are always entertaining, but our Mac (complete with iMovie and all that) sits in the corner doing nothing while I create websites and music on my two PCs and my wife edits videos and blogs using her PCs.
To each his own, I suppose…

[…] Vía problogger, se trata de otra nueva vuelta de tuerca a esta serie de videos PC vs. Mac con los que Apple nos está obsequiando últimamente (qué majos), esta vez sobre la edición de video en ambas plataformas. […]

As much as I’d like to try using a Mac it just doesn’t make economic sense for me right now. I can pick up a similarly equiped PC or notebook for around half the price (roughly) of a Mac equivalent.
Plus you’ll notice the ads make no mention of Linux. My main OS on my PC is Kubuntu Linux. I ownly use Windows for games now.
