Opening Paragraphs that Hook Your Readers

Writing Content 2 comments

Great post (as usual) by Brian over at Copyblogger titled 5 Simple Ways to Open Your Blog Post With a Bang.

While we all agree that the title is the most important element of a blog post in terms of getting it attention – it’s the opening paragraph that hooks people right in. Brian shares 5 techniques for doing this.

  • Those are all great points and sometimes they seem so simple that they are overlooked. The opening I usually try to use the most is asking a question or sometimes the concept of invoking the mind’s eye.

Lately I have been trying to close my posts with some questions or action items to try and encourage more interaction and feedback. So I like how Brian closed that post.

  • Not to downplay headlines, but on my favorite blogs (this one and “Brian The Copyblogger” included), I tend to at least look at every post regardless of headline.

It’s the first paragraph that makes me read the whole post.
Of course a brilliant post by Brian
