Lists Group Writing Project – Categorized

During the Last Group Writing Project (on the topic of Lists) I was quite overwhelmed by the number of entries. The list that we ended up with had a total of 301 lists.

The main problem with the final list of entries was that despite containing a lot of great posts – it was difficult to find posts that would interest you as they were in no way classified.

As a result I decided that I’d commission a fellow blogger, Christina Jones from eBeauty Daily, to see if she’d come up with a way of making some sense of it.

Here’s how she’s done it (thanks Christina!)

  1. Liz Strauss says:

    Hi Darren!
Speaking as one who has been rather . . . ahem . . . intimate [blush] with your list, I know what truly fabulous idea this is! So many great lists came out of this project, I keep thinking of ways that I might bring them forward and feature them for weeks to come.

There is just so much great information. You’ve proven the value of lists beyond a doubt. Just look at the value of this one or even the value of the first list on this one.

    Thanks again for this project!

  2. Ray Dotson says:

I agree with Liz. I wish I could write a post on each one. If only I had the time…

  3. Rick says:

Thank you for doing this, Darren. It makes it easier to get a handle on the submissions.

  4. Darren Rowse says:

    thanks friends.

I should say – I only just noticed which one Christina put at the top of the list.

  5. Yvonne says:

It’s a good idea putting the list up again – there are a few in there I didn’t have time to read the first time around :D

  6. Scott Howard says:

Greatly appreciated Darren, so when is the next list contest going to take place?

  7. Darren Rowse says:

not sure when the next one will be – i was thinking I’d do one every 3-4 weeks.

But I’d like to get another topic. As much as lists is fun I don’t want to only do them.

Any ideas for the next group project topic people?

someone suggested ‘series’ (as in you write a series of posts on a topic)

    someone else suggested ‘rants’

someone else suggested ‘how to…’ (I think this or a ‘tips’ one would be good)

    any ideas?

  8. Scott Howard says:

I think the ‘tips’ or the ‘how to…’ would both be good ones. I put up a post with some of the links from the list that fell into a certain category for my blog if you want to check it out. http://www.dipnoi.org/archives/category/children/

  9. Holy List! You’re a gem for doing this, by the way. And I’ve signed up for your newsletter because I don’t want to miss stuff.

My idea is youth. Everyone has connection with youth in some way. Or how about something altruistic? Favorite charity, fundraisers, etc.

    Have an awesome weekend, Darren.

  10. I like the rants idea for the next project. Ranting is what I do best!

The other possibilty is to make the theme of the project “posting about other posts” and we can show how to citate and link back and encourage cross-blog commenting and such.

But that kinda happens naturally during the writing projects anyway…

  11. Nice to see the list classified.

I think I would list my own contribution under Hobbies, not Sports.

    Yehuda

  12. Some other possible project topics:

–Timeline (in the form of a narrative, list, image, etc.)

–Debate (bring up an issue and encourage visitors to take sides in the comments)

  13. Chris says:

Hmmm, whats odd about this list is my submission isn’t on it :).
I wonder how that is because there 301 entries, and my entry was on the master list, so I’m wondering what happened?

  14. I agree with Liz
