AdSense have now got an option with their Search feature to allow publishers to have search results shown on a page from their own site instead of them being taken offsite.

I got it working at http://CrabApple.cc by taking out some of the javascript in the header. For some reason, it doesn’t play nice with other stuff up there.
However, it does work, after you hunt and peck at what to take out, and what to show. I’m sure they’re working on a fix now for people with WordPress or other CMS that have all that stuff in the code that interferes with AdSense.

Does anyone know if we can alter the code to change the width of the frame for the search results? I know we are not suppose to make changes to the code, but the 650 width Google uses for the Adsense search breaks my design.

I wish I had a way of testing it to see if I inserted the code correctly. Is there a way (obviously without violating adsense TOS)?

This is a very nice feature and we’ve implemented it on our site. If we could change the font type and size it would then look completely integrated with our site. You may need to fiddle with the height/width to get it right. The default height of 1300 was chopping off/ truncating the next button so we had to change this to a higher value. I don’t think this is against TOS if it’s fixing an issue with the display of search results. You need to check this for yourself of course.

@ MacStansbury – What exactly did you do to get it to work on your wordpress? I’m curious if the cutting of the code was effective and you still get clicks.

Mild workaround for WordPress found here: http://tinyurl.com/mk8sl (my site, just a ridiculously long url)
And AdSense for Search works as it always does, only if somebody clicks the links on the search results page. Though, since it has the look and feel of my site, visitors will feel better about clicking the link, as it appears to be a more trusted link.
