What do you think of Technorati’s Upgrade?
What do you think of Technorati’s upgrade?
My first impressions were not that great but it’s growing on me. Their challenge is that they are now tracking a lot of information and a lot of blogs and to present it all in a useful and uncluttered way is always going to be difficult - particularly because I suspect that different Technorati users use it differently to each other (ie some use it to find stories, some to track blogs, some to observe trends etc).
Their signed out and signed in versions of the home page are useful if you use Technorati to track blogs but will take us a little while to get used to.

I appreciate all the new features and changes by Technorati but I still prefer the older design.

I like it, nice color scheme. But I miss the tabs towards the top of the search box. There’s a pull down menu instead. It also seems much faster.

I like the new design quite a bit. It seems faster. I’m guessing that some of the speed is that people are clicking on fewer pages because they can get to things easily from that main page without needing to click to a new page first. It might be a little cartoony, but all in all, I think it is much better.
Plus, Technorati seems to be doing a better job of indexing and updating links recently. Double bonus.

It’s a lot better than the last update, they finally got rid of the hello kitty design, it’s still a little cluttered, but behind the scenes it’s really quite amazing…a big dose of Web 2.0 I guess, but it’s super quick…and we’ve got blog rankings back again for all minor blogs!!!! Yae!

The “Discover” page puts a lot more info in front of you in a compact form. I like the tab format for the subcategories especially.
Meanwhile, the new icons and “primary colors” scheme make me feel like I’m playing The Sims: Blog City. Not necessarily a bad thing.

I’m not very picky about the L&F on most sites so long as I can easily find the information I’m looking for. Since they didn’t really move much around on the pages I frequent, I think it’s just fine.
On a side note, this post mainly caught my eye because I’ve been checking technorati quite a bit lately. I’ve gone from a rank of roughly ~80K to ~25k in the last week because of one post getting picked up by lifehacker, then by dozens of others. I’m amazed at how fast the site got launched up the Technorati rank ladder, but I have to give Darren some credit for the success since this is my main source of blogging tips…and he’s probably a good 4-5 of the links. :) Thanks Darrren!

I like the upgrade. It makes the site look more polished and user friendly. Still, nothing has really changed.

Tech looks very scrambled now, ’cause of the different coloured bars, it’s strange they give up their “Green”…

I’m not so fussed on the design, it’s a bit hard on the old eyes. Guess we’ll have to get used to it or start looking for an alternative…!

can you do more blogs on technorati? My football blog is squibkick.com and the technorati tags are at the end of my blog, but is that helping drive traffic to the blog?

I’m new to Technorati (two weeks), I think they’re great, but I can’t figure out the rankings. I found many other blogs that had the exact same ranking as me. But happily, I’m now in the top 900,000! Wahoo!
