I’ve been trying out a poll, and the results are insightful, even if the response hasn’t been great. Mine’s in the sidebar — I think I will try it as a post next time.

You are right. Poll can effectively made our blog more interactive. Reader sometimes are too shy to post their comment. Poll really help this type of reader.

I do a weekly poll on my frugal living and money blog each Monday. Anything money related from Do you buy bottled water to How much you are saving for retirement. I share my own thoughts as well as readers can share opinions.

I also share results usually late Sunday or Monday before a new poll is released.

The first point on my list about would be to realise the limitations and flaws with polls, and internet polls in general. They’re not scientific polls and should not be treated as such.

Great tips as usual Darren!

I’ve changed a few poll settings after reading the post. I’m curious to see what the results will be. I think that points #6,7 and 8 and really pertinent and will make sure to do so for my next poll.

I would add to point #3 that if you’re going to place it anywhere, it should be above the fold (no scrolling required to see the poll).

Yea. I agree with your point #3. Put poll in position where readers can see it. I put my site poll below navigation links.
