Group Writing Project Update

ProBlogger Site News 8 comments

Just a quick update to let everyone know that the ‘Habits’ Group Writing Project is definitely over.

We had 80 submissions (see them all here) and I won’t be accepting any more – you can still write on the topic but I won’t be adding them to the list.

Thanks to all who participated. Please visit the submissions and link up to your favorites.

Stay tuned for a new group writing project next week. If you’ve got any ideas for a topic (I’d like to keep it ‘ProBlogger’ related) feel free to make suggestions in comments below or via email.

  • How about personal versus business blogging? I don’t mean this as an afront to either genre, of course. But I think it would be interesting to typify the genres and talk about the social norms of bloggers in each group. For example, I run a consultant blog and this means I have to present myself in the same manner that I might at a networking event, business meeting or other professional situation. However, I still have to come across as a real person and not as some stiff who writes whitepapers. In comparison, the writer of a personal blog can do things like talk about their weekend hitting the clubs, their toddler’s recent tantrums, their acne woes and their favourite music. This is equally valid (and perhaps more human) writing, but it is of a different genre. And some personal bloggers may see business bloggers as simply ripping off a good content management tool. Anyway, I thought this might be an interesting project. (Could always be a subproject elsewhere in the community, I imagine.)

  • Do we get to add our own ads in that writing project?

  • Were you talking to me, Inquiry, or was that for Darren?

  • How about covering the technical aspects of blogging. Web hosting, blogging platforms, themes, plugins, 3rd party software, etc…

  • Honestly, I’m afraid to contact them at all for fear it will raise a red flag and they will scrutinize my sites much more than if I wouldn’t have contacted them. I try to minimize contact and stay within the rules. Paranoid? perhaps. :)

  • Inquiry – sorry but I\’m not sure how we\’d do that.

  • How about ‘top 10 favorite blogs’ or ‘top 10 reasons you blog’? I’d love to get an insight of people whom i read on a regular basis.
