This is the best policy- something which I can hardly follow. However, after reading your this post, I feel that I will try to do this too. Actually, when we try to do many things together then nothing can be done very well. Nice post.

Great idea Darren. Sometimes it’s hard to stay focused when you’re always wired. Escaping to a cafe with some nice coffee and a charged iPod is a good idea. Just wondering… when you’ve finished an ‘offline’ article, how long does it usually take to dump your article into wordpress, add some pics, links, tags and categories? Or do you replicate your wordpress database offline so you only need to add pics and links?

I’ve been wondering about the best approach, and for me replication would be ideal (even though the wordpress editor can be annoying when writing lots of content).

I agree with Maria, most of the time, when I am connected to the internet, my intention was to find information.
So, it’s good not to be connected to the net when we decide to come up with a good content :)

I started out the same way…spacing out my posts, but now with my new laptop I could go to coffee shops and just write as well. The internet can be very distracting at times and I end up reading more than I write!

But at times I do need some inspiration and that’s when other people’s writings and blog posts come in….

So that is how Darren does it, pack the laptop and go to his favorite cafe. Maybe I should try that approach as well. I’m new to blogging so I don’t know how other bloggers do it.

Best of luck with your plans Darren – I find that after three articles on the same general topic I’m pretty much burned out for the rest of the day.

If I’m in the position where I can spread my writing across more completely different topics then I’m generally good for a full day’s work.

I also find that being away from the Net can sometimes be more of a hinderance than a help because I like to be able to refer to different sources to make sure I have my fact right as I write.

But your experience might be different.

That is a great idea. I find that there are just too many distractions while connected to the internet to write anything really meaningful.
