FeedBurner Launch Email Subscription Service

Also from Feedburner today – the announcement of a new service called FeedBurner Email which allows you to provide a way for your readers to subscribe to your blog via email. It’s not a particularly new service (others have offered a variety of options to do it previously) but if the plug TechCrunch gave it is anything to go by it’s a good service. They list it’s features as:

  • Free
  • Daily emails
  • Blog Branding – Feedburner plugs are all at the bottom and minimized
  • Very good HTML/CSS rendering – posts look just right in the email (see screen shot below)
  • Blogger owns the email list and can export it at any time

You can subscribe to ProBlogger via email by filling in the following field with your email address.

Enter your email address:

Delivered by FeedBurner

It will mean you get one email a day with my latest posts. It’s not like my free weekly newsletter service which gives extra information.

If you subscribe to this new one let me know how you find it.

  1. This is interesting — they were previously partnering with FeedBlitz, and we already have that in place on our site. I’ll have to take a look at this more closely and see if it’s worth moving people to the new system.

  2. Darren Rowse says:

yes – they still offer the feedblitz option as well as one with Squeet.

I think it’s a good concept as on many blog topics I suspect most people would have little idea about RSS.

  3. Steve says:

This is cool! I am familiar with feedblitz as well. I use feedburner for other services like placing feeds on other sites. I am curious to see the results of this.

  4. Ken says:

Since the service requires a double opt-in, why bother subscribers with entering a code embedded in a graphics during sign-up? You don’t normally have to enter a code to sign-up for a newsletter — especially when you still have to click on the activation link in the confirmation email to subscribe. Feedburner should just skip the code.

  5. marcel says:

not even Google groups does all this… especially not user email exporting

  6. Steve says:

I just got my first email newsletter from problogger and I would have to say I really like it. Looks professional and the layout is great. It doesn’t have “feedburner” plastered all over the page.

    I like it :o)

  7. Sergio says:

Well, the double check to subscribe is really a shame, cause the the email looks really great. Like it’s out of our blog not using Feedburner.

  8. Steve says:

I used this for my own site and I don’t have the ability to view my subscribers. I also have no ability to know how many subscribers I have. I hope they are working on this aspect.

  9. Michael says:

I’m testing this service on my blog for about 22 hours and I like it so far :-)
    @9. Stefe:
To see the number of subscribers: Feedburner administration -> Analyze -> Subscribers -> scroll down to “Email Subscription Services”.

  10. Sounds cool! I subscribed to it just to see how it looks like. The captcha is really a bad idea. Another vote from me to take that out!
