ProBlogger Returns to ‘Normal’

Posted By Darren Rowse 18th of April 2006 ProBlogger Site News 0 Comments

The two week break is over and I’m back home after what was a wonderful couple of weeks in tropical far north Queensland (north eastern tip of Australia). We spent a week in Port Douglas and just under a week in Palm Cove.

While we did catch the end of the rainy season and saw some rain each day the overall vibe of the time was very relaxed. It was around 30 degrees Celsius most days and the humidity was 97% because of the rain.

A lot of the break was spent beside the pool reading and swimming but we also got out for a day of touring the Daintree rain forest and took a tour of the Great Barrier Reef where we got to do some suba diving (stunning stuff).

Now it’s back to reality though in my home city of Melbourne where the weather has turned and we’re on the way to what looks to be a pretty cold winter. Luckily we’ve got lots to keep us distracted this year with the arrival of Mini-Rowse expected in just 10 weeks. I spent the last 24 hours assembling cots, changing tables, strollers etc. I get the feeling life is about to change in a pretty significant way!

Thanks to my guest bloggers and case study writers who kept ProBlogger ticking over while I was away. I hope readers found the two weeks helpful. I’d love to hear your feedback on the case study experiment. Were they worthwhile? Would you like to see more of them scattered throughout my future posting (perhaps one per week with a little of my own analysis thrown in)?

Please excuse me if I’m a little distracted over the next few days but I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. The inbox is full (5000 unread emails), the News Aggregator is overflowing (close to 10,000 unread), there’s heaps to catch up on with b5media (which has had some great developments behind the scenes while I was away) and I’m halfway through writing a new resource which I’d like to be able to release in the coming weeks. I’ll definitely be busily keeping ProBlogger going but may be a little distracted for a day or two until I get on top of things. Also – if you sent me an email in the last two weeks please don’t be offended if I havn’t gotten back to you. It might be worth resending it in a few days time in order for it to ge my full attention as I’m scanning a lot of emails right now.

Lastly – here’s a little picture of me taken out on the reef – hopefully it will help me extend the feeling of the holiday for a few days longer.

  1. Darren, do you have any advice for the post-holiday return to the internet? It can be a bit overwhelming for people returning to any number of emails and RSS items – how can you best keep the holiday alive, without spending the whole holiday online?

  2. welcome back darren ! hope you had a great holiday ! :D

  3. hehe…I spent the last two weeks in Hawaii, so I guess we had the same thing in mind :) Welcome back!

  4. Welcome back!

  6. Welcome back Darren, hope you had a nice break.

  7. cafedave: Delete All :D

  8. I just have one thing to say, thank god you are back.

  9. Hope you had fun Darren.

I’d love to see more of the case studies – the more the better. I really enjoyed them! :)

  10. I like the pic.

Don’t tell anyone I said this, but the best move you could possible make to get through all the crap that’s built up is to open your mail client, go the inbox, hit cntrl+a, then hit delete and go take a nap

  11. Glad you’re back Darren ;-)

  12. Hey Darren,

Sounds like you had a great time in QLD. The arrival of your bub in two and a half (short – and believe me they will be!) months should stave off any post holiday blues and keep you on your toes!

  13. Glad you had a great vaca! Welcome back. I think I was one who sent you an email but hey I didn’t realize you were gone. Sorry about that… :o)

I enjoyed the case studies. I would definitely mix them in though as I like all the other stuff too…

  14. Welcome back- by all means bring on the rest of the Case Studies! ; )

  15. The Case Studies were great. They let us know what real people go through when they are just starting up like so many of us. I would definitely like to see more of these case studies.

    Welcome back!

    -Ryan

  16. hey where are rest of the pictures?? share some more Darren. I would really like the know “how a problogger has good time” ;-) .

My opinion about case studies is mixed, while most posts were really helpful and I learned a lot, some posts were not something I would have expected from problogger.net – even if it was guest posts. But I am in favor of case studies and I really think it was a great idea.

Anyway don’t forget to upload some pictures.

  17. Return to “normal”?

Darren, we don’t read you because you’re normal — your much better than that :)

  18. Good to see you back. The blogging series was excellent. It was great reading about the successes of other people. Very inspiring.

  19. Welcome back, Darren!

Glad to hear you had a great time. The case studies posts were *fantastic*, I learnt loads while reading them and looked forward to them alot, the success stories were especially inspiring and help to keep the problogging spirit up.

    More would be great :)

    Congrats on lil baby problogger!

  20. It’s so strangly hear about “north” as place to rest… :)

  21. Would you like to see more of them scattered throughout my future posting (perhaps one per week with a little of my own analysis thrown in)?

    Sounds great!

  22. Really enjoyed the case studies. Hopefully we’ll see some more in future. But I’m glad to have you back. Great, fun photo!
