I've seen so many people totally ruin their site and its design by making horrible looking ads that stand out. It makes the site look totally cheap and horrible, bringing down the entire site. The ads need to look like they're a part of the resourcefulness and information supply of your site. If not, they look like adverts, and that immediately turns people off.
