AdSense add ‘Add New Channel’ Popup

One of the more annoying little things that I’ve always found with AdSense is that in the setting up of a new ad unit you do all the design aspects of it and then get to the point of adding a channel. IF you want to make a new channel for the ad you’re currently making you need to leave the process to do so and in doing so loose all your design settings.

This seems to have been changed in the last 24 hours because now when you get to the point of choosing a channel there is an option to ‘Add new channel’.

Adsense-Channel-Add

When you click this link it opens a popup box to allow you to do so without loosing all your previous information.

Adsense-Channel

I’m not sure when this was added but I don’t remember it there yesterday when I was making a new ad.

Thanks to Duncan for the email tip off.

    YAY!!

  2. Aaress says:

Yes. . . that’s great news. That drove me crazy too.

  3. Shaun Carter says:

Finally they fixed it! Now the ad setup process is even easier.

  4. DaEMoN says:

    A much needed addition

  5. Martin says:

Yup, been annoying me too lately getting through setting a new ad up only to have to start again when I realize I haven’t created a new channel.

So this simple tweak was much needed.

  6. Rob Lewis says:

Great, about time!! The sort of thing that can’t have taken them much time to implement but will save publishers hours of wasted time.

  7. Finally! That had to be one of the most frustrating things about laying out an AdSense ad.

Thanks for the heads up, Darren.

  8. Leon says:

Seriously, it’s about time. But as they say, better late than never! Thumbs up. :)

It’s these seemingly little things that make setting up various systems online so much better. I hadn’t realised it was so new, I just discovered it yesterday – I was already groaning when I realised I hadn’t got a channel set up for my new ad position, when I saw this addition. Excellent. OK so it only saved a minute or so, but it’s good.

It’s like the new addition to WordPress to add a category on the fly. These sorts of tools are non-flashy and do their job well. More of them, please!

  10. Finally, this is a feature that I have wanted ever since I first signed up with AdSense. It’ll make adding and tracking ad units much easier and faster (which is important when I still only have dial-up).
